Re: Guide: All Confirmed Characters for Tekken 7

Here is my response (nothing new here, it is pretty much the response each month, so sorry for the lack of originality.)

1. This months games are ****!
2. This month games are cool!

(you choose).

The truth is this - for a year's subs Sony give an aggregate of decent enough games to justify the price of the ticket.

The problem is that - just by law of averages - it may well be that most of these games do not suit your tastes. This can open you up to new gaming experiences if you are positive and make you want to punch Sony and regret spending the money if your mindset is negative.

The solution is simple - if you think it is a good deal, pay up. If you don't, then don't.

  • but yeah - online gaming should be free with the costs for the service taken out of Sony's not insubstantial profits. This would not only give parity with PC gaming (and Sony knows it is losing gamers to PC), but would pretty much solidify their dominance of the console market.

Re: StarBlood Arena Explodes onto PlayStation VR on 11th April

Not exactly my sort of game - but I will be getting it as we are being totally starved of good content since launch on PSVR (with the obvious exception of Res7). Derivative as it looks, it still looks like a competent game - made by a team who obviously have a higher skill set than the lot that made Ping Pong!

But I really do not get Sony - not at all. Rigs was a great game, but it did not sell and Sony executed what was a very talented studio.

So what do we have here? Something that looks basically the same premise as Rigs - with just an 'overwatch' skin.

“The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results” (Albert Einstein).

Add to that the problem of basing a game around multiplayer on such a small install base, and it is the kiss of death.

Talking of the 'Kiss of Death' - on Sony's track record, if I were one of the Devs on this, I would be already arranging an interview down the Job Centre.

Looking forward to this though

Re: Video: Sony Needs to Solve PS4 Pro, PlayStation VR Stock Shortages

Here is a thought....

What if these 'shortages' are entirely deliberate on Sony's behalf?
I find it difficult to believe that a company as big as Sony can mess up on it's stock to such an extent.

The reasons for them doing so would be different for both Pro and PSVR, but both come under the general title of 'consumer test'.
For the Pro, the test would be 'will the consumer take to the idea of a mid-generation upgrade?' and 'Can we do this without annoying the existing consumer base?'
With PSVR, I think Sony have already pretty much abandoned it and have plans for a future that we do not know (i.e. PSVR2 to combat what they know is going to happen with Microsoft, or even VR is not economically viable).
The consumer test with PSVR is obvious. Will people take to playing games with a headset on? How significant an issue is motion sickness? What would the projected sales be from a limited release? Will 3rd party developers support the platform? Is it easy enough for the general consumer to set up and use? and etc.
Imagine the amount of problems that Sony would have faced if stock had have been available. Thousands of units returned due to motion sickness, technical issues and general consumer confusion. Then think of the industry response to all of this (not to mention consumer response).

Wouldn't this explain the really low key launch and presentation, the lack of advertising, lack of software support and media blackout from Sony? Not to mention the fact that the Pro and PSVR are not fully compatible.

I think Sony are not looking at the current generation, but all of this is aimed at the PS5.
