Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Delay Is Due to Current-Gen Consoles After All

Ryall

@Medic_Alert @get2sammyb The enhanced backwards compatibility is really quite impressive. All the testing is been done on Xbox. But we know from a number of Sony 1st party games that have 60 frames per second patches. That both consoles work for patch games in essentially the same way. https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2020-xbox-series-x-back-compat-is-transformative
If cyberpunk is currently in a similar situation to dead or alive 6 say around the 15-20 frames per second mark on base hardware. Don’t you think it’s possible that it will be fixed by moving to next gen consoles?

Re: Will PS5 Support 1440p Screens? Fans Are Eager for Answers

Ryall

Unless Sony confirmed otherwise I would assume that PS5 would output 1080p to any 1440p monitors. I certainly wouldn’t go out and buy a monitor at anything other than one of the TV resolutions in order to play a games console. You’re likely to get a worst experience and waste money

Re: PS5's Destruction AllStars Free with PS Plus, Delayed to February 2021

Ryall

An online game like this lives or dies by its community. Now we know that if it’s good it will succeed. Where as before the was always a concern not enough other people would be willing to pay full price and it would therefore be dead on arrival. Even if it was theoretically a good game. I’ll certainly try it out when it arrives on PlayStation plus.

Re: Another Indie Dev Suggests Sony's Denying PS Store Sale Requests

Ryall

I appreciate the way the PlayStation store does themes sales. The developer should be able to book a slot the next time there type of content goes on sale. The alternative is the switch or steam situation where you have about 1000 games on sale all of which are coming in and going out different times and which are not sorted by category.

Re: Don't Be Surprised if GameStop Push Xbox Series S|X Harder Than PS5

Ryall

Or the analyst in question might just be trying to drive up game stops stock price in order to make a quick profit on his own shares.

Game stop might well get a recurring cut from subscriptions they sell. But there’s no way they will get money when someone makes a direct purchase on Xbox with a credit card.

Sony are in a different position as they’re not trying to push consoles on credit and they’re less focused on subscriptions.

Re: Looks Like Genshin Impact Has Been a Gigantic Hit

Ryall

Large complex multi character action RPG with the same freedom to move and explore as breath of the wild. Nothing else quite like it and it’s very good. Just don’t trigger the Gacha mechanism with real money. You really don’t need to.

Re: PS Plus October 2020 PS4 Games Announced

Ryall

I play need for speed rivals in the hope that it will be something like burnout. It wasn’t and I didn’t like it and judging by review need for speed payback isn’t going to be better. I have PlayStation now and haven’t played the vampire game so I doubt I’ll play it through PlayStation plus so I’ll probably add it to my library anyway in case I feel the need after my PlayStation now has expired.

Re: Demon's Souls PS5 Demo Running 1440p, 60 Frames-Per-Second

Ryall

If you need digital foundry analysis to tell you it’s in performance mode then that’s definitely the way to go for normal gameplay.
I suspect the 4K mode will only be used by people who want to capture still images with the photo mode (assuming the is a photo mode).

Re: Second Wave of PS5 UK Pre-Orders Are Quick to Sell Out

Ryall

@AdamNovice If you look at the game showcases PS5 certainly seems like the one to get. If you read the small print Xbox seems like a better deal. If you read the business press it sounds like Sony has bought lots of excellent games as timed exclusive for 2021 and the new content from Xbox games studios will start kicking in 2022.

At this stage both seem to be selling out so I guess you could call both strategies a success so far.

Re: Guide: New PS4 Games This Week (21st September to 27th September)

Ryall

@KisekiFan7 The PS2 version of of God of War 2 was released in March 2007 When the PS3 came out in November 2006. It was more than two years until it got a PS3 port.

We don’t know precisely when horizon forbidden west is coming out but it certainly isn’t unheard of for Sony to continue releasing big first party games on their old system.

Re: Reaction: Spider-Man PS5 Debacle Shows Sony Is Out of Touch

Ryall

The chances of anyone buying the game twice a minimal and not providing an upgrade path leads to the impression that when you read the small print Sony is the worst deal than Microsoft. As the platform holder you would think it will be in Sony‘s best interest to make people want to upgrade from the PS4 to PS5 and having their content improve with the transition would be a good way to persuade people.

It certainly seems like a case of counting the pennies without looking at the bigger picture.

Re: The PS5 Digital Edition Might Be in Super Short Supply

Ryall

I think they probably got the balance right in terms of overall demand. When I went into my local game to try and pre-order a PS5 they had 1 digital edition left and no physical editions. They failed to sell that digital editions to both the person in front of me in the queue and me.

Re: Horizon Forbidden West Built from the 'Ground Up' for PS5

Ryall

I think when executives use the words “built from the ground up” they simply mean that the developers are aware but it will be released on the platform during development. For example you could say that death stranding was built from the ground up for PC because the developer was aware that it will be released on PC during development. Where is Horizon zero dawn was not as they had no intention of releasing it on PC during development.

Give him the heads of both PlayStation and Xbox have used it in the same way to describe cross gen games. I suspect their usage is correct. But since the layman seems to misinterpretation think they’re lying they should probably stop using that form of words.

Re: PS5 Game Install Sizes Revealed, And They're Enormous

Ryall

@TheGamerKing The switch only has 32 GB 25 of which are usable for games. There are games like the BioShock Collection that won’t even fit on the internal storage. I doubt the will ever be a PS5 game that you won’t be able to install without a gen 4 nvme in the way that you require an Micro SD card for some switch games.

Re: PS4 Boxes Will Have PS5 Upgrade Banner for Compatible Games

Ryall

@rjejr The advantage of Microsoft approach in having different names for the disk and diskless consoles. Is that they can write Xbox series X on the disk and it will play on every Xbox series X. Nowhere will it say Xbox series S so you don’t have to worry about confusion.
