I actually think Microsoft won't be a problem given that they have let some of their properties end up on Nintendo's platforms...Microsoft loves money enough to not put the WB Games IP exclusively on their platform... at least in the beginning. If it were EA or Activision, then I'd be worried though given how they are abhorrent companies. Take 2 seems to be the fairest one of them all though.
Threatening an actor for what happened in a fictitious story with murder. Classy. Seriously, why does an imaginary character’s death inspire idiots to actually threaten to kill someone who was merely portraying another fictitious character? No brains for some people. I wish they’d direct this anger towards fighting actual causes worth addressing like global poverty, the environment, and saving abused animals.
I actually like Abby...in addition to having a compelling story herself, it is also because Ellie doesn't feel like Ellie to me in the sequel. Being stupidly angry and hateful does that to someone.
While I like shorter games as long as epics, I'm a "middlecore" gamer in that I love hardcore games and softcore games (no innuendo intended).
I can play Downwell or Binding of Isaac for hours or even just a few minutes; and I can spend weeks on Soulsborne games or even short bursts at 15 minutes at a time to grind.
Still, games like Minnit have their appeal just as much as Witcher 3, but yeah, for some gamers, it might be a barrier since not all of us have equal time to game a lot or interest that is held--I've played 200 hours of Breath of the Wild and still haven't finished the last part, so epic fatigue is real.
I see the other titles that followed are no longer canon according to the comment at the end of the trailer about not beating Cortex more than three times--or perhaps because Crash 4 is set in 1998 those stories haven't happened yet like Twin Sanity?
@Matroska Ha, yeah. Now imagine that same costume as being the same Crash who appeared in the infamous commercial where he went to Nintendo HQ in the 90s. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mTi5EaocGaY
@AhmadSumadi I asked the same thing and so far nobody has answered me. From what I'm reading in the comments, it's not Nintendo, Xbox, or PC fanboys, it appears to be people who don't like the direction of the story and what happens to the characters, meaning it's a lot of people who loved the first game and hate that this is not what their idea of the sequel should be.
Okay, now why the hell would they review bomb this game? I can understand when people review bomb something because it's a platform exclusive that they feel could go on other platforms, but aside from that, I fail to see why people feel the need to review bomb something like this. Is it the spoilers about the plot to those who are attached to the first game's protagonists? Is it the queer protagonist offensive to the homophobes?
Makes me wonder why the hell I bought the original on sale the other month with DLC if it was just going to come back enhanced and improved with this extra content with Miles Morales...More Mileage with Miles Morales?
I swear that sometimes I almost want to stop reading both NL and PS because it seems these pissing contests between fanbases gets in the way of actually enjoying games...Sammy Barker in particular fuels those Nintendo bash festivals in his articles.
The NL version of the PS4 smashing article interestingly enough emphasized it was Chinese fans, not necessarily Nintendo fans...which kind of can be worse in some ways.
I JUST got into the Yakuza series this year with Yakuza Zero and am now playing Kiwami 1. Initially, I thought I would just finish Zero, then I got through most of 1, and I have no burnout because it's so enjoyable--so waiting for a sale to get Kiwami 2, the Remastered collection, 6, and will decide if I really want Judgment or not before getting Like A Dragon for sure.
I loved the World of Darkness setting in the 90s, and still disappointed their plans for an MMORPG with all their settings never came through. I was a big fan especially of Mage: The Ascension and Kindred of the East, and found Changeling: The Dreaming to be underrated.
@BalsBigBrother yes, and even workarounds never actually worked when spotify stopped working on my ps4 months ago too. So no YouTube, no spotify, and now only some discs can be read after the update...
I have mixed feelings about backwards compatibility: one reason is that my old consoles either don't work or are gone; the other reason is that the old discs may be barely functional already. I end up buying old classics when they're re-released because I can't play them on my old consoles anymore if I have them--my old SNES games can't hold a save anymore for the RPGs I have for example, and I don't even have the original SNES because the system completely died.
BC is only a small part of what is more important to me: retro gaming, which was significant when the Wii came out with its virtual console, and the BC with GCN made it even more appealing. Likewise, my first year PS3 was fantastic because of it's BC, as I no longer had the PS1 or PS2. Sadly, both the PS3 and Wii and game collection for those consoles got stolen by some jerk "friend" while I was working overseas, and I only got back into gaming after I was gifted both a Switch and PS4 the same Christmas by other friends who realized what a jerk that former "friend" was.
@Roku22 Do your digital games crash too or is it just the disc-based games? And if so, less often than the physical?
I am seriously ready to just buy a digital version of a game I already own physically if it keeps happening (Return to Arkham: Arkham City). Hoping it doesn’t happen to my Witcher 3, Horizon, and Nier Automata GOTY editions...
Oh boy, be careful...I am equally addicted to my Switch as I am my PS4 (some games even more so). Once you get used to portability, bathroom breaks mean nothing anymore...
Though I already developed the habit of holding it in for hours playing Soulsborne games! 🤣
@Roku22 yeah man, I was waiting for lockdown to end to go over to my game store to get a bunch of games I wasn’t able to get at the last minute before everything closed (Yakuza 1-6 and Nioh). Now I’m just going to see if the other physical games I have work and decide to go all digital while waiting for discounts...but I’ll cross my fingers in hopes that Persona 5R physical will work...
But I’ll still hold on and keep buying Switch physical games because obviously Paper Mario in July will be available after lockdown!😁
@Roku22 Ha, well, if this is some bizarre business plan to work with ISPs for more digital purchases to profit off of bandwidth usage or getting people to upgrade to PS5 or buy a new PS4--sadly, it works. I think I am coming closer to buying most stuff digitally since I never knew there was a mandatory install for PS4, and stick to cartridges on my Switch (even if there are huge updates that are a few GB too lol).
You are a lucky man with a good wife! My gf leaves me the TV to play AC on her Switch Lite and even watches NetFlix on her phone or laptop if she sees I'm gaming on the PS4.
@Roku22 lol Thanks. I managed to reinstall a game after a couple attempts and it still crashes from time to time in the middle of playing because it claims the disc can’t be read, but I hear the in game audio in the background of the blue screen...so I exit after a moment and put the system in sleep mode and go back to it after, then the game suddenly works again. Kind of hard though when doing something like a Souls game. I may have a few disc games, but now seriously thinking about making my PS4 all digital if this crap continues seeing how it is not uncommon for others too...and it all started when spotify didn’t work for me suddenly last year too.
Just updated it—and a couple discs that were working just fine the day before are suddenly unreadable. Seems like this was a problem a few years ago with an older update.
@Miles_Edgeworth couldn’t agree more. Though I also believe that in the case of Bloodborne or Astral Chain, those were examples of Sony and Nintendo investing into the IP, which to me makes more sense for exclusivity as opposed to Google just trying to hoard something to be the first mover. I actually am less inclined to support Google seeing this kind of hoarding they’re doing as they don’t appear to have any interest in SS4 aside from wanting timed exclusives to artificially give value to Stadia.
@captainsandman I can see that happening too. Most Switch owners I talk with seem to be walking advertisements because they play it everywhere. People I never knew to be gamers surprised me when I saw them playing Switch in public, and then of course we traded both Switch friend codes and added each other on PSN, because of course, they have good taste.
Actually, aside from one person who has an Xbox, most Switch players I know all have a PS4 or PS4 Pro.
@JohnnyShoulder Oh, I'm perfectly aware of it, the point I was making was that the PS2 still has long-lasting appeal and some people still want one up to now, though I suspect a lot of those are people who need replacement consoles.
I still see people trying to buy a PS2 so that they can play classics from PS1 and PS2 era, so this doesn’t surprise me in the least that PS2 remains best selling console of all time. An “arcade” I saw in an East African town once consisted of a few TVs, PS2s, some sports games and fighting games.
I have been a gamer based on the franchises and games I enjoy the most, so the strength of the sequels makes sense to me. I even live through the argument "Yeah, but let's see something original, bro!" from naysayers and then find that what was "original" ended up being either a disappointment or heavily influenced by an existing franchise.
It'll be an anime dating sim, and be called "Silent Hill" because a shirt a character is wearing or a cafe you can bring a date to is called "Silent Hill". That way, they can trademark Silent Hill and call anything they want Silent Hill without actually giving us Silent Hill. And sadly, some people will buy it.
Good for you! But how does that PS+ subscription comment you tagged me in relate to what I said about people ditching the toxic fanboy behavior for Sony and not being above it just because they aren't Nintendo fans?
Every time I come here, I see Nintendo-bashing as though Sony fans have not already demonstrated that they are not above this fanboy entitlement themselves, whether it is being childishly angry about a HZD port to the PC or review bombing Astral Chain on Metacritic for being a Switch exclusive.
I own both systems and enjoy them for the exclusives, and while people said I could have easily bought some titles for Switch due to portability, some I still bought for PS4--The Witcher being one of them since I don't want to play on the road or do the cross-saves with the PC. I am happy when one console gets an exclusive and happy for the publisher when they can expand their audience for certain games (but not necessarily all).
Grow up and quit acting like you're above the toxic fanboy behavior as though it were just a Nintendo fan thing.
Still on the fence about the remake--didn't like the original when it came out, but enjoyed Crisis Core though surprisingly and felt that with all the retcons and refining, the remake could and should be what the original convoluted game might have been.
Alas, I think I'll wait for the final part to be announced and may play however many chapters exist the last months leading up to its release, or I'll wait until they are all out at once.
I actually knew girls in college who liked the game for the sexiness, especially for Xtreme Beach Volleyball. They saw it as inspirations for cosplay or because they just had no problem with sexuality as a natural and human thing. This was in a very liberal city in the early 2000s, too, and the metoo analogues (both guys and girls) then just thought it was stupid, but didn't try to get it banned.
While I've been a Nintendo and Sony gamer since NES in the 80s and PS1 in 1995, I did have a very low opinion of Sony with their trash talk towards Nintendo with the Crash Bandicoot commercials and FF7 magazine ads. However, in spite of this, I still enjoy the outcome of Nintendo and Sony having their own consoles and niches, and have just been lucky that my PS3 and Wii were both gifts (which were unfortunately stolen with the games a few years ago), and my PS4 and Switch were also gifts.
I can't imagine a lot of the Sony exclusives would have ended up being made on Nintendo's PlayStation and if we had a world of Nintendo PlayStation, and frankly, I see the competition from Sony as strengthening Nintendo's drive to being unique and Nintendo's legacy inspiring Sony to continue a script of what works.
That said, this prototype is history and really does belong in a museum, and we can only imagine how gaming would have been different had the bitter separation between Sony and Nintendo didn't happen.
Hmm physical release does greatly appeal to me. If it's all those games on a disc or two, awesome, but if it's partially digital...I'll still get it, but it won't be a day one purchase.
A great idea considering that a lot of games were on different platforms--PS2, Game Boy Advance, PSP, 3DS, PS4...Concentrating it all here is very helpful as I only ever owned the first two games.
The problem with this PushSquare article is that it highlights the issue as "Nintendo Fans" only, but over at Nintendo Life, it was highlighted as Nintendo fans in China.
Interesting given both sites share office space and they're the ones having a laugh at the non-conversation they expect to erupt here.

Re: PlayStation Boss Didn't Know About Final Fantasy VII Remake When Square Enix Trolled the World
@Reishin8amara @ArmyofOne I hope not. I hate not finishing a story (even though many of us beat the original back in the day).
But then as the universe expands, the story gets more convoluted with the compilation of FF7 and now more so with Remake.
Re: PlayStation Boss Didn't Know About Final Fantasy VII Remake When Square Enix Trolled the World
I was never a fan of FF7 back in the day because my all-time favorite was FF6, but that trolling in 2014, even I thought that was pretty mean.
Glad that the remake ended up being worth the wait, but it sucks that some hardcore fans I know died before this first remake episode was released.
