Re: PS Store Spring Sale Goes Live with 500 PS5, PS4 Deals

Snorky

Is it just me or is the webstore hot garbage? No screenshots or trailer videos when you click on a game title? Why wouldn't they check out a game before you buy it?

I get that these days people will do their own research and use youtube / other reviews etc to learn more about a game, but still...

Re: Knowledge Is Power: Decades Turns Your Living Room into a Game Show in November

Playing the first game on PS+, I couldn’t help but feel that it lacked some of the polish and replayabiliy as That’s You. Taking hilarious photos and seeing your friends reaction was half the fun. In Knowledge is Power you take an initial photo and don’t see it again until the quiz is over. If you want to play other round it seems like you have to go through the same drole and uninspiring voicing as the first play through.

I think the next game would have to improve on these for me to consider purchasing. Would happily grab another That’s You game though.

Urgh I can’t say I am enjoying this shifting trend of micro transactions in single player games. I suppose balance is the real issue. If it’s entirely possible to play and enjoy the game without he need for additional purchase, I’m sure most people wouldn’t have too much to fuss over. If however the balancing is off and players feel hamstrung without further real money investment, there will likely be a lot of angry players. Of course until the game can be played it’s rather hard to judge.

I do think it’s a small step away from Middle-Earth as the micro-transactions for gear and orcs is very likely to effect the multiplayer element, which suggests that the micro transaction purchases providing a distinct advantage against other players.

Re: Review: Yakuza: Kiwami (PS4)

@ShogunRok

I have finally got around to buying and finishing Kiwami. I was new to the series, but always wanted to get into it. So I was absolutely delighted to dip into the delight that was Yakuza 0! After finishing that I got around to checking out your review of Kiwami, needless to say I was a little bit sad that they didn’t manage to follow up and make Kiwami as great as Zero.

Thank you for the honest review. I have to agree with your score, as much as it pains me to do so, as I really wanted it to be great. Even so I’m glad I played it, and look forward to further entries in the series! Fingers crossed that they keep remastering all the games for PS4 until we’re caught up over here in the west.

Re: Gamescom 2017: Here's Your First Look at Shenmue III on PS4

I'm going to get killed for saying it but I just don't think kickstarter is the right means for funding/creating games. All that hype, often leading to a lacklustre product.

I honestly hope I'm proven wrong. I don't like smack-talking games, it's just worrying the direction we seem to be going in with singleplayer micro transactions, half finished games released to be finished in further payed dlc. I love gaming, I love the experiences that can only be had through that medium, I can't say I love the industry.

Re: Which December PlayStation Plus Games Do You Desire?

Snorky

I might be alone in this view but I really dislike it when the PS+ game offering is a sequel. At this stage I'm not going to buy Walking Dead 1, just so I can enjoy the ps+ offering without feeling like I missed something.

I understand it from a business perspective, but I can't say I like it as a gamer. Don't punish me for not trying your earlier games... Give me a reason to buy your latest games.

Re: Shenmue III Targets $10 Million as Funding Is Clarified

Snorky

I see no reason why Sony would throw any more money at the project. From a business perspective, the project is fairly risky.
How many people have actually played the first two games? Fans of the series are clearly very passionate about it, which is great. However, how are people who are new to the series supposed to approach it? Buy a dead console to play it on? Emulate the series?

Looking at the Kickstarter, yes they have raised $3.6 million which is a huge amount, however this amount has been raised by ~45k people. Assuming that the majority of those people will receive a copy of the game, how many more copies will be sold post production?

People are also asking for a physical ps4 version of the game, being an enthusiast of physical media myself I understand this to a certain degree, however from a business perspective, is it really worth the printing cost?

I'm a gamer, and a lover of niche, but taking a pragmatic look at the title I find it hard to understand why Sony would offer any more than they have. It's great that games get made, unfortunately it is also a business. I really hope the project succeeds, but it wouldn't surprise me if it flops.

Re: E3 2015: Sony's Done Making Big Games for PS Vita

Snorky

I'm pretty happy with the stream of JRPGs and visual novels, with the occasional indie or cross play stuck in there. The Vita has been my go to console for quite some time now and I can't see that ending. I imagine that is one of the more positive things about limited number of releases, the ones that do get released are almost definitely going to sell.
