Re: Newly Minted PS Studio Nixxes Helped Guerrilla on Killzone: Shadow Fall

TheFrenchiestFry

Even if it's just for PC ports it could take a lot of the load off in house first party studios to dedicate their resources to that stuff in tandem with new games like what we saw with Horizon. Sony clearly has taken note of how Microsoft is banking off of both the console and PC market and probably don't want to waste that opportunity for more $$$

They could also assist with helping said studios leverage the tech for other games specifically made for the console hardware

Re: Reaction: Messy Ghost of Tsushima Upgrade Makes PS5 for the Payers

TheFrenchiestFry

@AdamNovice This game is literally launching same day on these platforms as well. This argument shouldn't even be used

And no I'm not talking about Remastered, I'm talking about Miles Morales. Upgrading from PS4 to PS5 was free of charge both there and Sackboy, but apparently Ghost of Tsushima is too cool for that. They can't even do as much as put the DLC seperately on PS Store for those who might not want to pay extra for the upgrade and are content with just playing the game as is

Re: Reaction: Messy Ghost of Tsushima Upgrade Makes PS5 for the Payers

TheFrenchiestFry

@AdamNovice Yeah how dare they literally put the SAME exact director's cut game on PS4 and then charge again to play it on PS5 when they didn't even do that for Spider-Man or Sackboy

How dare they

Plus because of regional pricing, it'll be more like 20 bucks here in Canada just so people can upgrade from PS4 to the new console. I really don't get how you don't see the problem here

Re: Atlus Stresses Importance of Overseas Sales as Persona 5 Royal Tops 1.8 Million Copies

TheFrenchiestFry

@rpg2000 SMT V is definitely off the table now. It looks like Nintendo is actually handling publishing duties in specific regions like Europe, and according to the game's producer Kazuyuki Yamai (SMT IV director) they specifically targeted Switch from the beginning because of both its capability for HD graphics and nature as a hybrid console. At least other platforms got Nocturne HD

Also you can't really ridicule the outcry for Persona being larger. Persona is by far the much larger franchise, although I am seeing some portbegging starting to pop up on social media over SMT V being released on Sony platforms now so there is that

Re: Atlus Stresses Importance of Overseas Sales as Persona 5 Royal Tops 1.8 Million Copies

TheFrenchiestFry

@PhhhCough A lot of people, particularly on Switch and PC could potentially be alienated by the fact Strikers marketed itself as a direct sequel to P5, being that that is a game not available on said platforms, which is probably why it's not doing as well. The PC version from what I've seen is actually doing fine but the numbers for Switch specifically seem to be pretty average. Not helping things is that it's also a spinoff, and those by default just don't bring in the numbers of main entries. I don't recall P4 Arena blowing up either, nor the Q games on 3DS

Re: Atlus Stresses Importance of Overseas Sales as Persona 5 Royal Tops 1.8 Million Copies

TheFrenchiestFry

@RawnDawn I think it's just the outcry for Persona in general to go to other platforms. Atlus for as much as I love their games, they've always done some really wack decisions when it comes to stuff like their DLC practices and especially their stance on games being multiplatform. Especially for a game like P4G it honestly made no sense to keep that thing on Vita. Considering JRPGs actually do pretty well for themselves when brought to PC it only made sense, and now Atlus definitely knows that people will play the games they want if they're more readily available. I think the only reason Nocturne HD isn't doing as well has to do more with the quality of the remaster itself rather than the fact people don't care that Nocturne's on PC

Re: Atlus Stresses Importance of Overseas Sales as Persona 5 Royal Tops 1.8 Million Copies

TheFrenchiestFry

@RawnDawn I haven't seen P4G really get discounted a ton outside one or two publisher sales and the Steam Awards sale. In fact the ongoing Summer sale is like the first time I've seen that game discounted since that other sale

This is a thing with all SEGA games really but it's still notable considering how old at this point Golden is, and especially because it's not even the current latest main entry or anything, which is way more popular

Re: Atlus Stresses Importance of Overseas Sales as Persona 5 Royal Tops 1.8 Million Copies

TheFrenchiestFry

I'm honestly still baffled Atlus have been sitting on multiplatform ports of the other games. P5R being as huge as it is on PS4 alone would make bank on PC, Switch or even Xbox. I'd buy a P3 remaster with Portable's content and FES' presentation in a heartbeat if it wasn't half-assed like Nocturne HD. Persona 1 and 2 are pretty much mostly inaccessible without emulation and it's a shame since I think the latter is the best mainline game in terms of story

I'm not expecting Persona 6 stuff until SMT V is out the door or about to come out but they should really get their back catalogue more out there, especially in the cases of the Japan exclusive stuff like the first two SMTs

Re: Sony: We're Not Going Around Making Random Acquisitions

TheFrenchiestFry

@JJ2 A lot of people not following gaming news will continue to not follow gaming news. This clearly isn't targeted towards the person buying a PS5 for something like a few CODs or a FIFA game every now and then. These announcements are SPECIFICALLY for the people who actually keep up to date with the industry or gaming news to an extent. Average Joe down the street doesn't give a rat's bossom that PlayStation got the Returnal developers, especially if it's a game on a console they can't realistically get yet

Re: Sony: We're Not Going Around Making Random Acquisitions

TheFrenchiestFry

@JJ2 Well yeah that's why they do it. It gives them the image of a super competitive company that wants to generate publicity and clicks over what they say Ken Kutaragi and Kaz Hirai did the same thing during the PS3 days

It's clearly also meant to rub off elitists for those reasons too since they know they exist

Re: Sony: We're Not Going Around Making Random Acquisitions

TheFrenchiestFry

@Total_Weirdo I'd say at least the big ones are definitely of AAA caliber imo. Elder Scrolls, Fallout, DOOM and Wolfenstein being their property is nothing to really scoff at

Even the higher tier AA franchises like Dishonored or Evil Within are solid gets. If I wasn't already a PC gamer I'd probably get an Xbox for a few of those so they have that going for them

Re: Sony: We're Not Going Around Making Random Acquisitions

TheFrenchiestFry

@Rob_230 Kojima I don't see being acquired by anyone. He's already lived through the experience of working under a higher corporation and he's clearly had enough of it. Kojima and Masahiro Sakurai are basically like the freelance contract developers of the Japanese gaming world at this point

Re: Sony: We're Not Going Around Making Random Acquisitions

TheFrenchiestFry

To be fair pretty much any acquisition is going to be one you either slightly entertain the possibility of, never seriously thought about or never saw coming

Even the people ragging on Microsoft for THAT buyout often forget in order for stuff like this to happen, the third party has to approach them first. Same with Rare being bought by them when Nintendo had a massive ownership stake in them. Same with Insomniac after Spidey PS4 came out. Hell Guerilla Games used to make Game Boy Color games before Killzone lol

Really no acquisition is like this random thing that happens on a Tuesday morning that you see overtake your Twitter notifs. This stuff usually builds up after an immense amount of trust between both parties

Re: Poll: When Do You Expect the Next Major PS5 Livestream?

TheFrenchiestFry

Firstly I'd probably expect it in July but basically while I don't anticipate that it will blow minds or anything it'll probably be on the scale of something like the recent Xbox showcase or the E3 2021 Direct, so basically akin to the Future of Gaming event from last year

In terms of games though, I'm definitely expecting that full trailer for Death Stranding Director's Cut to show up here, as well as reminders for upcoming games like Deathloop and Kena. In terms of new announcements that rumor about a standalone Ghost of Tsushima expansion sounds pretty plausible so I wouldn't be surprised if that was something they lead in with like Miles Morales last year as the big holiday game, while Horizon is either September or October

As for the other rumors like Bloodborne on PC/PS5 or some of the other stuff like Silent Hill or MGS Remake, complete 50/50 shot in the dark but I do expect at least one majorly signficant announcement. These kinds of presentations always have that sort of thing.

Re: Marvel's Avengers Dev Urges PS5 Players Not to Stream Due to IP Being Displayed on Screen

TheFrenchiestFry

@pip_muzz Well it's not really just meant for streamers or people who do that kind of stuff for a living. Ever since social media became more commonplace game developers and console makers have always sought out ways to make their products more socially connected not just amongst people locally but to tie it closer with how much more active of a community the internet has become

That's even why you see stuff like "Photo Mode" being a big feature in major games like Zelda, Mario Odyssey, Death Stranding or Spider-Man. It brings engagement amongst people on social media and attracts attention towards the game
