Re: Ghost of Tsushima Supports 60 Frames-Per-Second on PS5, Better Load Times

TheIdleCritic

@SwitchVogel Platinumed it on my Pro. I'll probably NG+ it on the PS5. It runs great on the Pro. No noticeable pop ins or frame drops. Loading is also already quick on the PS4 (didn't Sucker Punch say that they had to increase the times of the loading screens so that people could read the tips?).

I suppose the 60fps would make a difference. Just excited to be able to jump back in regardless.

Re: World Record Trophy Hunter Hakoom Has Hit Level 999 Already

TheIdleCritic

@GREGORIAN I resent that. I never expressed hate or jealously, just bemusement that he could have achieved this.
Your comment has a fair point though.
But I don't think it's unreasonable to forgive an adult (me) who, when starting careers and work, grew up in a world where handing out CVs and filling out applications didn't include ones for playing/streaming games on the internet for donations and sponsorship.
Your point is valid, and if that's true in regards to Hakoom, then fair enough. More power to him.
Sometimes I just forget that's a whole thing now.

Re: You Can Transfer Your PS4 Games and Save Data to PS5

TheIdleCritic

@thefourfoldroot @theheadofabroom Ahhhhhhhh sorry. My brain got a little muddled. I was thinking about transferring your Yakuza PS4 save to work on the upgraded PS5 version, which I guess is a little different to just being able to use your PS4 saves on a PS4 game on your PS5. Sorry.

@naruball I'm not one to scoff at how someone chooses to live their life (now to a lesser extent, after finding out that there are multiple people on his account). You do you and all that jazz, but I play games, have a job, have a wife who I need to pay attention to (lol), exercise, and have to take care of everyday chores. I don't even have an active social life. Plus I need to remember to sleep well. If I were to neglect one of those things, life would be a lot less healthier. I have no time for anything else. I find this particular lifestyle choice odd and hard to fathom, but he's achieved something, so whatever. Good on him. It's just... priorities...

Re: PS5 Stand Solution Is Seriously Nifty

TheIdleCritic

@rjejr Doesn't really matter about the orientation of discs when spinning, unlike vinyls. A disc would just have a laser that reads the back of it. As long as the console or player is designed to be able to play discs sideways (i.e disc stays secure and doesn't move about when the player knocked) then it's fine. Now I know how big the console is, which is BIG I know I can't have it horizontal in my current set up. Vertical is fine.

Re: London's Burning in Watch Dogs Legion Story Trailer

TheIdleCritic

@JapaneseSonic I can't guarantee that it won't It's a pretty good representation of London as far as games go. Except for the tiny post boxes! Check out the gameplay trailer. I couldn't stop laughing lol. They're about chest height. I don't know why no one else has brought it up.

Re: PS5's Controller Features LED Lights to Denote Which Player You Are

TheIdleCritic

@zimbogamer I think a certain level of whining (not to the relentless extremes we've all seen) is justified when you're parting ways with £500 in a year when people have had pay cuts, job losses, deaths etc. And if you say that if it's not sensible to pay that much then don't... if the PS5 is the only thing that can make me happy this year then you better believe I'm getting it.

I haven't been whining though lol, just waiting patiently!

Re: PS5's Controller Features LED Lights to Denote Which Player You Are

TheIdleCritic

@Medic_Alert of course. I think everyone is feeling it. I'm still excited for the console and I can't wait for November 19th but Sony have handled the run up to this launch abysmally. I'm sure it's turned a lot of people off. I really don't know what's happening over there. I'm sure the sales will still come flooding in and later down the line the games will become generation defining. But right now it's a rough road lol.

Re: PS5's Controller Features LED Lights to Denote Which Player You Are

TheIdleCritic

@Medic_Alert I know you probably don't understand Japanese, but they kind of did that with the reveals today. Hopefully someone can translate it all as I cant be bothered. I did a little in the comments of another article. Better yet give it to some English speaking.... YouTubers "shudder". (Obviously we still don't know what the two centre buttons do though).

Re: Watch Lots of Brand New PS5 Gameplay with Japanese YouTube Videos

TheIdleCritic

@thefourfoldroot Yes. Same here. I know the calibre of games that they produce so I'm confident about that. But imagine having the upper hand (at least in terms of the PS4 generation) and botching the marketing and communication up this badly for the next console? I don't understand it at all.

The other features are not as important no, but they will be important to someone. I, for instance, will actually be using my PS5 as a media player and streaming. And considering that one of the launch accessories is a remote with a dedicated Netflix button, you'd think they would at least show a little snippet of how that would work/look in the UI.

Re: Watch Lots of Brand New PS5 Gameplay with Japanese YouTube Videos

TheIdleCritic

@thefourfoldroot also, I'm not sure how to describe but the... resistance (?) can also change within the same press/action. So it can feel different from when you first start pressing to when you've fully pressed down.

I agree with you. I'm still excited for my PS5. But at this point I've kind of lost hope when checking the internet. I don't believe that Sony are "scared" or are hiding something like I've seen other people say. I just think they've approached this whole thing completely wrong. I'd be interested to see how many people they've lost who were on the fence.

Re: Spider-Man Creative Director Calls for Respect as PS5 Remaster Criticism Crosses the Line

TheIdleCritic

@naruball I understand where you're coming from, but the examples you give for being a ****, I believe, are exactly that - a person just a **** and not a more deeper seated issue. Before I met my wife, I only had one non serious girlfriend, I used to be chubby but then I joined a gym, my mother left when I was young and I've never known my father, etc, but I've always tried to be a good person. (True examples but I won't give any more as this is a random site on the internet, not a support group lol). None of that equates to a mental illness.

I used to work in luxury retail. Trust me, there are some horrible/happy people out there lol.

@Old-Red Now I understand what you mean. It's a shame there's no real term for it. I think to say "mental illness" further stigmatises disorders people have.
It's more serious than being socially inept... It's more like... being an ****hole but on a clinical level... like kleptomania but for being a ****.

EDIT: I suppose mentally ill really is the best term to describe it, for now. As you say, there's something not quite right going on in their heads.

Re: Spider-Man Creative Director Calls for Respect as PS5 Remaster Criticism Crosses the Line

TheIdleCritic

@Arnna I agree that it's not a blanket rule and there will be exceptions no matter the situation. It's undeniably a minority in that "crowd" with genuine disorders, and that in turn must be dealt with separately. The majority.... tits. I also echo your sentiment entirely. Coming out the other side of a debate with them does make you feel worse. However I've found that once that's happened to you it's much easier to avoid them. I don't spend nearly as much time on the internet (except for work) than I used to. I'm much healthier mentally because of that. I just feel for devs who seemingly need to have an online presence and see this crap daily.
