Re: Uniqlo Is Killing It with Its Gaming Collections Right Now

TheIdleCritic

@BansheeNorn Uniqlo is an international business and has western models, and as I stated before I religiously buy their regular colour tees and the fit is great. It's got nothing to do with demographic. The UT tees are just cut to be baggy and ill fitting and I don't know why.
If anything, if the sizes were for Japanese people they'd be smaller/tighter, not larger.

Re: Uniqlo Is Killing It with Its Gaming Collections Right Now

TheIdleCritic

It's just a shame the fit on their UT line is awful. I have a couple of their SF and Final Fantasy ones but I only wear them as indoor tees. They're so baggy. I'm not one for fitted tees, but I do like mine to have a bit of structure and shape. Their cheapest line of plain tees are much better. I don't know why these are cut the way they are.

Re: Ed Proves He's a Real 'Edcase in Street Fighter 6 on PS5, PS4

TheIdleCritic

@Jay767 Sure. I agree. But he doesn't seem different enough to warrant not just bringing Balrog into the current gen. Like how Kimberly is just a rehashed Guy (although I recognise that they allude to her learning her style from him, and indeed a lot of the fresh characters have connections to the older characters they're similar to), A.K.I is just a rehashed Vega, etc. But having said that, there are some fantastic additions, like Jamie. And Luke is actually very fun to play. I just wish they'd dive into their back catalogue of characters like they did with IV. They have all the Alpha roster to pick from, not to mention they can bring in EX characters too - Kairi and Garuda from EX would be great to see.

Re: Brand New The Last of Us HBO Trailer Revealed

Genuinely excited for this. A strange sort of excitement one might feel as a boy who's mum is still holding the toy he wants , she gets to the checkout.

A little sick of general comments though. Gamers really do live in a bubble where they're the ruler, eh? You need to start realising this is for a whole different audience who haven't played the game or don't own a Playstation. I'm excited to introduce the series to a friend who otherwise knows nothing about the game.

Re: Harry Potter Game Hogwarts Legacy's PS5, PS4 Special Editions May Have Leaked

TheIdleCritic

@sjbsixpack That's very true. But I just think that the name Harry Potter is bigger than the boy who lived. It's a name that resonates with an extremely large portion of the population. Myself included. I'll admit I really don't like the films, but through osmosis and just living in the UK, Harry Potter really was a massive part of my childhood.

Obviously WB want names like 'Wizarding World' to be the new norm for the universe, but it'll never replace 'Harry Potter' as the name that just encompasses everything in that universe.

Re: Lost Judgment Behind the Scenes Video Shows a Surprising Amount of New Gameplay

TheIdleCritic

@mrtennis1990 Absolutely. The balance of silliness and self awareness is perfect. There are so many "small" moments within the game that made me smile - when Tak takes a kid's skateboard to chase down someone is so ridiculous but great.

Wait until the end credits. There's a little scene that plays during the credit roll; it won't mean anything to most people but it encapsulated the vibe of the whole game so well. So great.

(Unfortunately Sony don't seem to be making the right choices right now in terms of marketing).

Re: No Pit Stop for GT Sport, As Polyphony Digital Adds Toyota GR 86

TheIdleCritic

@Reeneman My honest answer: Yes. But you might not. The caveat is that I've always been a fan of GT's aesthetics; I love the menus and the jazz and the minimalist UX.

In terms of a campaign - there isn't much there. Perhaps GRID would be better for you. I think it's quite cheap now. Single player for both games are shallow, but with GRID you'll get a more arcady experience.

Re: Final Fantasy IX Animated TV Show Announced

TheIdleCritic

@bimboliquido I went into it, when I first played it, without the burden of trying to figure out what makes a good FF game; because I simply didn't care (plus I was 11!).

I really did relate to the characters, again perhaps because I was young, but what was presented to us was simple and I genuinely enjoyed their backstories - which teased something deeper(except Zidane, he was boring). I also love how aesthetically unique they all are.

I didn't think the script was bad. Very natural dialogue - kind of like X.

The music is spectacular. Not bombastic and orchestral like nowadays, but for the time midi did what midi could.

The battle system is very simple, but stops short of becoming tedious, I think. And if you were smart about collecting weapons and armour then grinding never took up too much time.

The endgame is a load of lazy nonsense and the card game is trash.

... But I love it!

Re: Final Fantasy IX Animated TV Show Announced

TheIdleCritic

@bimboliquido If I like the game why do I have rose tinted glasses on? It's subjective. Why does it bother you so? This is not a case of a game being roundly trounced, and the consensus being "yeah, it's bad". Lots of people love it.

Re: Hitman 3 DLC Coming, But IO Interactive Hasn't Defined What It Is Yet

TheIdleCritic

@2cents I think that's a very pessimistic way of looking at it. It's true that's the case with some games, but with others I think it brings added value. Take God Of War - I loved that game. I thoroughly enjoyed playing through it and obtaining the platinum. Did I ever load it up or even think about it after I completed it? No.

Hitman has never missed any "important" content. Even with the added levels in 2. The story and narrative is so loose and thin that no one is missing out on anything. The added DLC just meant that once I'd done everything I possibly could and I get the urge to play it, months after getting the game, I'd have a reason to. If not for the DLC I'd never touch it again, and it's possibly my favorite franchise.

Re: Next Tomb Raider Game to Blend Originals with Reboot Trilogy

TheIdleCritic

Reboot trilogy was okay. The first game was brilliant and a breath of much needed fresh air for the franchise. The second was more of the same... not bad, but by the third the whole thing had gotten stale.

At this point the best thing they can do is mix it up and draw from the the nostalgia of the old games. Which is what it sounds like they're doing. Cautiously optimistic.
