No, $700 is NOT expensive for the newest console technology. I’ve had a PS5 since launch. I paid $535 with tax included. Right now I can sell it to GameStop for $350. That means it’s only cost me $185 for the last 4 years to have the latest gen console. That is 89 cents a week. Let’s explore this further. I’m buying a pro. The pro plus disc drive will cost me $835 and I plan that it will be relevant for 4 years. That is $1370 - $350= $1020. In the end it will have cost me $2.45 a week to have the newest console technology for 8 years. That is less than a cup of coffee a week. It’s less than going to the movies once a month. If you think $2.45 a week for multiple hours of entertainment is “expensive” then I can’t help you. But I can recommend a financial advisor.
@FinneasGH Ask and you shall receive! 😅 Go download the 2 hour free trial. You can carry your save over to the main game. Square Enix has been doing this for a while and I believe it should be industry standard.
@Nepp67 That might work as a workaround if the game had a pause feature. But even then it would just be a workaround. AAA games of this nature shouldn’t need workarounds for features that have been industry standard for 25 years. This game will easily take me 200 hours to fully complete. I tend to play games this big in 60 hour chunks. I’m 60 hours in and just picked it up for the first time in 6 months and I have no idea what is going on or what my objective is. In games like the Witcher 3 I was able to look at my quest log and get a good recap. In Elden ring I feel like I’m role playing as a tarnished with amnesia. 😅
They still haven’t fixed one of the games biggest glaring problems. It doesn’t have a codex/notebook that keeps track of the enemies fought, NPCs meet, locations visited, and overall lore. Many times now I’ve meet a NPC and they say something cryptic then disappear only to run into them 40 hours later and that’s supposed to be a side quest. It’s extremely lame that we need to spend $50-$100 on separate books to keep track of information that should have been included in the game. Which is a feature that has been industry standard for these types of games for a quarter of a century.
I’ll attest to this. FF7 Rebirth is now running flawlessly although it seems like a crime playing this game without HDR. I read an article a few months back about the internal download/upload speed being capped. Meaning it didn’t matter how good the internet connection was. I’m not sure how true it was 🤷♂️ but this seems to add credence to it.
I’ve been hearing about “stick drift” for a while and I just looked it up. The consensus seems to be that most of the time it’s caused by dirt and grim finding its way into the joystick. I’ve never experienced it. But I also wash my hands with dish soap to clean the oil and grim off every time before I play or let anyone else play. I cringe when I see people eating pizza and chips while playing. Keep your hands and joystick clean and your chances of stick drift become almost nonexistent. At the end of the day don’t take my word for it and do whatever you want. AND YES I DO LOG IN A LOT OF HOURS ON MY SYSTEMS.

120hz is not 120fps. Also this is another reason never to buy Day 1 games.

@CP2 Unfortunately we live in a time where people let their political bias cloud their judgement on almost everything.
