Re: Much of Horizon Forbidden West Development, Playtesting Done on PS4

@NEStalgia i think games that are simply just tech demoes are par for the course for any new gen release. The bonus this time is they have been good games as well.

Look, i agree with most points you raise. A couple i feel are your opinion which, while differing from mine, is perfectly fine. Should have been clearer but we are getting what they said.

Lets be honest, its a business at the end of the day and they all do what they can to get away with being crystal on anything.

Re: Much of Horizon Forbidden West Development, Playtesting Done on PS4

@NEStalgia opinions man, we all have them. Like i said, it was clearly mis leading but never an out and out lie.

Disagree with the likes of demon souls and returnal being possible on last gen as, while technically any game could be dialled back to work on the previous gen, these were sold on features like ray tracing, loading speeds and dual sense integration that arent possible on PS4. Hence the only possible on line.

A sizzle reel just shows upcoming games for the machine. Again, the structure of the way everything was delivered coukd be seen as mis leading, but not a lie. As you said, they didnt say they were coming to PS5 only but i completely agree that they didnt go out of their way to stop it either.

I read a take on this whole generation thing last night that i thought made me look at it differently.

Jim Ryan said he believes in generations and experiences only the new machines can offer. We are getting them experiences in games such as dark souls (albeit a remake), deathloop, R&C and such.

What he didnt say is that they would never make any new games for the PS4. People just assumed that everything was PS5 only which is just that, an assumption. At no point did Sony or Jim say they would take their biggest franchises away from their biggest install base.

I get the whole misleading side. It could have been clearer. Hell, i agreed with the belief they out and out lied until i read that perspective.

Sony are producing next gen only games. They just arent the ones everybody else assumed the would be.

Re: Aloy Trends As Fans Discuss Horizon Forbidden West Hero

Lot of blokes arguing about the made up lady's looks in this thread. The character looks exactly how the developer intended the character to look and, as with real life people, they shouldn't change anything because people on the internet dont think they look perfect.

Re: Uncharted 4 Heading to PC, Investor Presentation Claims

Weebleman

Its an old game that hardly sells anymore. As are the other two games. Folks acting like they are releasing day and date on other platforms and the truth is that they are old games that have even been given away free at one point. Why not let other folks enjoy them.

Re: PlayStation Studios' Creator Page Is Live on Steam, And Teasing More PC Ports

Weebleman

@Grumblevolcano completely disagree as most cross gen games get a free upgrade and new releases are charting pretty well which shows folks are buying them. Even Returnal, a PS5 exclusive, debuted highly in the weekly chart despite limited availability of consoles.

Sonys gaming division recently reported their highest period earnings. That occurred over the pandemic period.

Older exclusives hitting PC are just that, old titles console owners already bought. New titles will make their money from console owners and likely shift more consoles. There is zero need to launch on another platform and possibly impact a console sale. Once the money is made, itll move to PC and the process repeats.

Re: Returnal's Save System Still Being Investigated, New Content in the Works

Weebleman

Just stick a save in with the option of using it or not.

Pop up menu at the start 'would you like to use this, yes or no because you cant change your mind without starting from scratch'.

That way all these people who think it 'diminishes the vision' can play it without saves as they prefer. Folks who dont care can play it with the save option. I mean, how other people play has no bearing on the other persons experience at all. So why would it matter to just have the option.

Re: PlayStation Studios' Creator Page Is Live on Steam, And Teasing More PC Ports

Weebleman

@Grumblevolcano those games were coming to PS4 long before the pandemic happened. Just nonsense statements by Jim Ryan making folks think they wasnt. If anything, the pandemic led to more sales as people stayed in and gamed more and more. Covid affected many things but Sonys profits from gaming were not one of them.

They will all eventually end up there but not a chance they will be day one.

Re: Mass Effect Legendary Edition Download Size Is Massive on PS5, PS4

Weebleman

@JJ2 different strokes for different folks eh.

My PS4 titles are on am external but I have around 8 or nine games installed internally. Some stuff for my kids like fortnite, avengers (despite my protests, my youngest kid loves hulk. What can you do), the games i mentioned in another comment and then some other bits like maneater and astrobot. Plus 38 gig of 'other'.

Its not like im running on one game at a time and some of those titles are pretty hefty. I still have 245 gig free.

Re: Mass Effect Legendary Edition Download Size Is Massive on PS5, PS4

Weebleman

@Robinsad that sounds bizarrely the same as my life at present. My boys playing the same as yours and im currently 3/4's through control and tickling wreckfest for a quick fix. I have a few others installed as well but still have almost 300 gig free.

Hope my comment didnt come across as a dig at you, wasnt intended if it did. I just honestly dont get the grumbles with the ssd size as i have always had in excess of 200 gig free.

Re: What Would the Super League Mean for FIFA 22?

Glad thats gone. Now, lets see if uefa, fifa, the premier league, boris johnson, the entire uk government and opposition act the same way when a player is racially abused. I mean, we now know they can ban players from tournaments with very little notice, so....

Re: What Would the Super League Mean for FIFA 22?

@thefourfoldroot

1) there was changes coming to the champions league. They were actually due to be announced yesterday but this has taken over all other news.

2)the money from the new league can only be used for infrastructure improvements, covid deficit, etc... at participating clubs, not transfers.

Look, Fifa and Uefa are all about money lets not kid ourselves. The difference is any club out there can earn the right to that cash boost. Leicester were fighting relegation one season then the very next they won the league, got into the champions league and were awarded financially. This eliminates that because without these teams the champions league loses value. It just takes the sport out of sport.

It all boils down to money. The lesser of two evils if you will as the devil we know lets anyone have a shot at the cash and takes its cut. This new one already picked its winners and is going to let them win year in year out without challenge while it rakes it in.

Re: What Would the Super League Mean for FIFA 22?

Weebleman

@thefourfoldroot The problem is simple. It removes competition and offers no chance to others.

Other folks have highlighted in these comments how money from clubs at the top of the pyramid feed those at the bottom so, while that is all very valid information, i will look at it a different way.

The idea of the champions league is that entry is a reward for teams who play well, regardless of how much money they have. This new league set up by a small group of billionaires (lets be clear there, it isnt the clubs, players, managers, etc... its a decision taken by the owners and directors) removes the need for competition and the teams in it are their pureley on 'merit', i.e. monetary value.

The idea is that these teams can never be removed from that league and will play each other over and over making that small group of billionaires more money. Team plays badly, no problem. Five additional teams each year will be rotated on 'merit'. Your club earns money, then youre in. All of this lines the pockets of a small few individuals and because its a closed league (5 spaces rotated on merit for all of the participating leagues from different countries), they cant compete. The money fed down dries up, hard working clubs go under through the greed of that small group of people who already own more than most will ever see.

Up until the weekend liverpool were fighting tooth and nail to finish top four and get a champions league spot. Last night they drew with leeds and missed a chance close the gap. Im a Man U fan but the tension in a game when you need those points is undescribable. As a rival fan I would normally be jumping around when leeds scored because it made liverpools job harder. Now though, theres no point to the match because they are guaranteed to play in europe and get paid anyway. Now youd think liverpool fans would be made up about that but they arent. Because they want their team to fight and earn that right.

Man u fans do not want that guarantee for our club. Liverpool fans do not want that guarantee and its safe to say neither do the other fans. We want to play against the best of the best and that means playing against those clubs that earned it, regardless of whether a small bunch of money grabbing peckers think they bring enough money to the table to play.
