Re: PS5 Firmware Update: All the Features You May Not Know About

Weebleman

@Olmaz it does seem really random. As i said above, after setting the console to keep the USB's powered in rest mode ive had zero rebuilds unless someone powers the console fully down without disconnecting the drive. My headset connects without issue every time (so far) as well. I keep mine in the front USB port. If thats any different than yourself it may be worth a shot.

Not to take away from your issues in any way. I might just be lucky

@Matroska on the rest mode side of things, make sure your usb's are powered when its resting. Ive been using an external hdd and rest mode/suspend game for an age without issue. The only time i have to rebuild the drive is when my kids turn the console completely off (shakes fist) as the drive disconnects incorrectly.

Not taking away from your experience but worth checking as it fixed it for me 👍

Just remake here comes the pain. None of this slowed down, simulation tat. Just a straight up arcade slapfest. I want to be climbing the scenery on the stage and dropping legdrops from the top. Hardcore 30 minute falls count anywere matches were you lost because you thought you could land an elbow from a helicopter even though you knew it would ruin you. A game that physically demands you have a multitap so you can all quietly agree to shoe that one mate in the second that bells goes.

Thats all i ask.

Re: Poll: Is PlayStation Losing Ground to Xbox?

Without the 360 doing what it did you probably wouldnt have the focused drive that brought so many late gen ps3 classics.

Without ps plus giving away games there wouldnt have been games with gold.

Without the ps4 doing so well there probably wouldnt have been the shift from microsoft to really push gamepass into what it now is.

My point being that no matter how we perceive a company's actions, or lack of in this case, it all works in our favour as gamers in the end. There will be a reaction from Sony to Microsofts push (eventually, at least) and it will end up in more value on the table for us folks. Console wars are dumb but competition is neccesary.

Re: Reaction: What Next for PlayStation?

Weebleman

@get2sammyb they definitely need to do more to keep the momentum going. In the build up to the console release the scrabble for information reached fever pitch and, in turn, benefitted them as it basically advertised itself due to that. Dripping a picture of the controller literally made sites go wild with articles and comments.

Its starting to feel like Sony assumes that will carry forward to everything but, for me at least, its starting to turn into frustration at the lack of, well, anything. Like you say, there's a major title due out very soon and yet theres nothing but silence. Its (arguably) the first major next gen only release since demon souls. You kinda think theyd make a bigger deal of it really.

Suppose all we can do is wait and see. Which, in turn, takes me back to that word again. Frustration.

Re: Reaction: What Next for PlayStation?

As much as people will grumble about Bethesda going to Microsoft, the points raised in this article are exactly why its good for everybody. Moves like this from competitors prevent Sony from resting on its laurels and forces their hand into new investments, strategies, offers, etc... that simply wouldn't have come along if they are allowed to sit atop the pile unchallenged.

If you own both consoles then theres some great things on the horizon. Even if you dont, competition only leads to better things in the long run from both sides.

@Exlee300p well arent we a stroppy little man. If youd bother to read all my other posts youd see that i said Housmarque are a great developer, that ive bought all the other games theyve released and that it may just be the fact that its a procedurally generated roguelike thats creating the wrong impression. I also said its not the game thats the issue, its just always going to carry the weight of being the first £70 release so will be reviewed and measured against that rather then the quality of the game alone.

Also, im lucky enough to not be bothered by paying 70 quid for a game if i choose. Others are not, especially at a point when theres massive joblosses and familys are struggling. You should probably consider these things when trying to paint everyone with the 'people are cheap' brush.

Re: Worry No Longer, Kena: Bridge of Spirits Is a $40 Game

@Culjoseth I do have my fingers crossed for them. I get a hunch that the quality of the game will be compared to the cost in a lot of reviews as its pretty much the first to launch at the 70 mark.

You have me beat there, atari 2600 with the wooden trim was mine. Simpler times eh. 😂

Re: Sony to Unlock PS5 Storage Extension This Summer

Weebleman

@NEStalgia yeah for ps4 games the ssd doesnt really offer much over the mechanical speed wise, or that ive noticed anyway. Much more noticable on the xbox but i think its fair to say that microsoft offers better back compat features full stop.

You still get all the extras offered by patches (60fps, resolution boosts, etc...) so i couldnt see much point in using up my internals space with them. Just change your power settings and set it so it'll download any ps4 games straight to the external to save faffing with transfers and you are off.

Re: Worry No Longer, Kena: Bridge of Spirits Is a $40 Game

@Culjoseth im old enough to remember when games came on cassette tapes unfortunately haha.

I dont have much issue with games going up, like say, it was inevitable. Just feels like if say GTA 6 or something of similair AAA stature was being shipped at £70 it would make more sense than something that has more of a AA look (in my opinion). 59.99 would be a steady price for returnal based on what ive seen. If im wrong and its worth every penny i will happily hold my hands up, just cant shake the feeling though.

Re: Sony to Unlock PS5 Storage Extension This Summer

@NEStalgia im using the same 2tb WD mechanical drive i used on my pro (just to save downloading everything on a new one, easier to just plug it over). I always had the pro stay on for a few hours to charge pads and then knock off. It just acts like youve pulled the connection on PS5 though. So far its been all good since i just left them on.
