God of War is certainly not the linear experience it started out as. It might not be fully open world but a lot of the ingredients are there now. Never been a fan of the series but I did actually enjoy the last one to my surprise.
As for sticking with one console manufacturer... if only. They all ultimately offer something I'll want to play. And Nintendo can't satisfy my driving game needs.
Each to their own but a 10 - 15 hour campaign sounds ideal to me, the game finishes before the repetition really kicks in.
In my opinion, Miles Morales is a better game than Spider-Man due to its shorter length. But I've been gaming for a long time and becoming jaded with modern gaming and over-familiarity. I can't fault the quality of Sony's AAA games but they do somewhat lack variety - open world battling in Spidey, open world battling in God of War, open world battling in Horizon. And this is why I think Astro is still the best game on PS5, it gives me that fun factor and creativity that I often get from Nintendo.
As I say, each to their own and I am a bit jaded these days having been gaming from way before PlayStation was even a thing.
Completely agree. And could be a wise move with all the fuss regarding the price. I'd need a PS5 to go along with that demo but that's a separate issue.
@Dekutheevilclown Not all new IP but you cannot get those editions on any other platform. Even ignoring ports, Ring Fit and Bowser's Fury are 100% exclusive which is still more than any other individual platform. Which takes me back to my point about not seeing the bragging rights at the moment.
Would you have an issue with me calling Demon's Souls exclusive? I imagine not.
@Dekutheevilclown That version of Super Mario 3D World is exclusive to Switch. That version of Animal Crossing is exclusive to Switch. That version of MK8 is exclusive to Switch. Minecraft is multi-platform but it is the Switch version in charts. Ring Fit is exclusive to Switch. 5 games, 50% of a top 10. Take out Minecraft out on a technicality and the Switch still has 4 more exclusives than any other individual platform.
My comments are based on the top 10 in this article. I wasn't seeing the bragging rights over Series X based on the current charts and that is all my comment was based on.
@Dekutheevilclown Where did I praise the output from Nintendo? Where? Their sales figures and the dominance of the top 10 yes, output no. I said they should be smug. That is not praise. 50% of the top 10 are Nintendo exclusives without a great deal of effort.
I'm not stupid or a troll so kindly refrain from those suggestions and read what I am saying and in the context it is said. I responded to someone having a dig at the Series X output so I pointed out that there are also no PS5 exclusives in the top 10. Simply a fact.
The Nintendo output might very well be "pathetic" but it is clearly selling and ultimately that is what Nintendo, Sony, MS and any games publisher cares about.
@Hyperluminal There isn't an exclusive Series X game in the top 10. But that was my point, there are no PS5 exclusives in the top 10 either - Miles Morales is available on PS4.
@Hyperluminal Are you aware that the PS5 has as many exclusive games in the top 10 as Series X does? Nintendo are the only ones who can look at that top 10 and be smug.
Agreed and I never said any different. What I am will to pay is personal to me and I'm not suggesting the entire pricing structure should be based on my standards, as nice as that would be. But I do think his justification for the price increase isnt rock solid and if that is the basis being used then there needs to be a wider range of pricing as not all games offer the same hours of entertainment.
I'm curious to see how it pans out. You said yourself that the price hike could help devs whose games don't sell as many which is true but the flip side to that is some people will buy less games than they used to so income could be less.
So if the 30 hour Demon's Souls is worth £70 then why is the 10 - 15 hours (figures from Push Square review) not half the price? What formula are we using to justify the pricing in this way? I'd fear that we end up with a lot of pointless filler in our games if this is how we are going to justify higher costs. Back in my day I must have spent those sorts of hours on Spectrum games that cost me £1.99 but that didn't make them worth a higher price.
£70 is too much for me, particularly without a demo to try before I buy or a digital refund policy like on Steam.
I've been playing this over the last few days and I do think it coming out so soon to Yakuza 0 doesn't do it any favours - location and content is too familiar.
I am enjoying it a bit more than the reviewer but I do really miss not being able to pop into the arcade and play OutRun.
A lot of people very quick to defend Sony and put the fault at MS. And let me guess on an Xbox website it would be the complete opposite. Never quite understood this devotion to a business myself. Personally I like games and I don't care what platform they are on. But I digress...
Minecraft is a big money spinner for MS so what does it gain by blocking Sony? Minecraft isn't a system seller since it is available on every device imaginable (almost). The support they gave to Minecraft on other platforms is commendable. They could have easily have made it Xbox/PC exclusive and kept Sony and Nintendo out of the picture. But like Sony and Nintendo, they are a business so they get more money this way. And at the end of the day, that is the priority.
For those that saying the PS4 doesn't need this as there are plenty of players. Some people have Minecraft playing friends using other platforms.
Don't forget the fuss with getting mods into Fallout 4 and Skyrim. Sony seemed less flexible there than MS did.
Don't kid yourselves. If Sony owned Minecraft then I expect there would still be a similar situation.
Cross platform play is a great idea and it is something I would like to see more of for multi-platform games - not everyone owns a PS4.
Uncharted 4 isn't really doing it for me. It is spectacular and has some terrific attention to detail touches but it just isn't thrilling me much. I can't really put my finger on why but I suspect the gameplay has just become overly familiar for me.Saying that, I've just finished chapter 15 and that was a good one.
@Dodoo The 2nd screen is just used for the map. As always it is handy to be able to quickly glance at the other screen to plan your moves but regardless what version you go for, it is a great game.

Re: Talking Point: Did PlayStation Showcase 2021 Deliver on the Hype?
Some visually impressive games but lacking in variety for me - pretty much all shooting or whacking. Would have like to have seen more GT 7 too.
Re: UK Sales Charts: Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart the Next Insomniac Game to Take Top Spot
They are not irrelevant at all. People buy physical games and this is the chart for physical sales.
It isn't the complete picture of sales but it is not irrelevant by any means.
Re: Reaction: Xbox Game Pass Is the Thorn in PS5's Side
For all the praise the Sony exclusives get, they still lack a Forza Horizon and that is a massive absence for my tastes.
Re: UK Sales Charts: Miles Morales Comes Back Swinging While Mass Effect Launches to the Top
Interesting to see that Returnal doesn't seem to have benefited at all from a fresh batch of console stock.
Re: UK Sales Charts: Resident Evil Village Sells Best on PS5, PS4 with 80% Share
@Col_McCafferty
Or perhaps point 1 from the comment above yours is simply more applicable.
Re: UK Sales Charts: PS5 Roguelike Returnal Off to Slower Start Than Other Sony Exclusives
@Darten
The price increase has nothing to do with inflation. I think you will find no link between inflation and console generations.
Re: UK Sales Charts: PS5 Roguelike Returnal Off to Slower Start Than Other Sony Exclusives
@MightyDemon82
If you were buying PS4 games at £60 then perhaps you should have been shopping around.

Completely agree. And could be a wise move with all the fuss regarding the price. I'd need a PS5 to go along with that demo but that's a separate issue.
Re: Rumour: PS Plus Expanding with 'PlayStation Plus Video Pass'
Interesting idea. Don't think it would entice me back to PS Plus in the same way as combining with PS Now would.
Re: No, Sony Didn't Pay for Performance Parity in Resident Evil Village on PS5, PS4
I do find the part about a deal to have the demo on PlayStation first quite strange. Not seeing the benefit Sony get from that.

@Culjoseth Is anyone praising Nintendo for the output? Hard to ignore the fact that 50% of the top 10 are exclusive to the Switch.
Not so sure I'd agree that 2020 was Sony's best year but that is just a personal perspective - I've had better on the Sony front.
