Re: Interview: How Fortnite Inspired Building a Better Virtual Concert in Sky: Children of the Light

gbanas92

@Loamy Oh man, love that dedication to flower haha. THat was THE game that got me back into the PlayStation, had a PS1, but weirdly no PS2, until flower came out and made me really really really want a ps3 haha

@Bamila Yeah, the presentation of that concert is immaculate!!! I love it!

Yeah, the candles are definitely a product of it being a f2p game Even with that, at least that experience around that stuff is so great!

Re: Synth Riders Closes Out the Year with Merry Synthmas Update

gbanas92

@Sarxion The massively expanded tracklist/ greater catalog is definitely appealing. That's probably the biggest detractor for the PSVR stuff, no secondary market for folks to chart their own songs when they feel like it. That's probably the biggest detractor, having to rely solely on DLC packs for new songs.

Audio Trip I think I have heard of but never played. It sounds familiar at least. Cardio Mode sounds worth it though. VR, especially rhythm games, is probably the most enjoyable exercise I've ever experienced, so any ways to add to that list of choices is worth it!

Hahah, my mom actually didn't care much for Dance Central, I had it on the Kinect back in the day haha and she couldn't stand it!

Re: Synth Riders Closes Out the Year with Merry Synthmas Update

gbanas92

@Sarxion Yeah, the wirelessness is one of the only reasons I'd ever really considered maybe getting a Quest, although honestly I mostly wanted to get it for my mom. She loves Beat Saber haha. Portability would be cool, but I don't explicitly need it, and hopefully, PSVR 2 will continue to have lots of exclusives, although so far what we've seen, man I don't know. Their rate of releasing interesting exclusive stuff whittled down to almost nothing on the first headset, to begin with, so I'm not sure how confident I am in that.

Supernatural I've not heard of previously, but you've got me intrigued! That corner of VR gaming is 100% my favorite aspect of it haha

Re: Game of the Year: Top 10 PS5, PS4 Soundtracks of 2022

gbanas92

@awp69 That is exactly why it was in honorable mentions haha. I think I mentioned that in the review for the game too actually. The music was really good, but by the time you're done playing, the music makes you feel like you're going insane

@Amnesiac Artful Escape has a such a weird unique soundtrack haha. All the guitar "gameplay" segments are so satisfying even if there aren't many of them, and the regular score is so damn good too. The whole vibe of that soundtrack is strange, and it's so good!

Well of course it would have to be in a good way! Tere's no way to listen to Yes, unless it's a good thing! Simply not possible! 🤣

@Korgon Olivier Deriviere's scores are usually so unique! I still listen to his soundtrack for Vampyr on the regular! Always a great listen!

Re: Synth Riders Closes Out the Year with Merry Synthmas Update

gbanas92

@EnragedGibbon Might just be some weird rights things regarding Beat Saber? Since Oculus owns the studio, they might not wanna help out Sony by having it available on day 1 or something like that. It's always on the top sellers list though, so they'd be turning their backs on a lot of money haha

Re: Synth Riders Closes Out the Year with Merry Synthmas Update

gbanas92

@Sarxion I might get it just for Beat Saber at some point, but at this point, I'm fully engrained on the PSVR platform, I don't really need more than one. Have all my games on PSVR and my computer is TERRIBLE haha. It's very old. Cuz if I were going to get a different headset, I'd want one of the higher-end ones. Probably be whatever HTC's got cooking on their next one if I do make a change.

Re: Game of the Year: Graham's Top 5 PS5, PS4 Games of 2022

gbanas92

@Ravix I liked a lot of the elements of Stray, the world, especially that hub level where it's mostly talking to all the folks around town was great though! It definitely had moments where I was super into what was going on, the prison area I didn't love too much though haha, got a little a too "Gamey" and less experiential than I was hoping for!

Re: Game of the Year: Graham's Top 5 PS5, PS4 Games of 2022

gbanas92

@Ravix It was on Gamepass Day 1, so my assumption is it might take a bit. I feel like most games that debut on or the other have it baked into the contract that they can't be on the other, at least for smaller games.
I did play Stray for what that's worth, and I thought it was very okay haha. I didn't dislike it by any means, but I was both hoping for more from it, and wishing it ended sooner than it did.

@Gremio108 Mission accomplished!

Re: Mini Review: Norco (PS5) - A Peculiar Prosaic Paradigm

gbanas92

@NotTelevision My only experience with the area is through the game haha. And until recently I kinda just assumed it was a fictional area, not really thinking it would be real. But, even just from the game itself, a lot of the personality of the area shines through even in the futuristic, fictional version!

Re: Mini Review: Norco (PS5) - A Peculiar Prosaic Paradigm

gbanas92

@NotTelevision The creator of the game is (or was?) from Norco! I remember reading that they lived there at some point. And the presence of "cancer alley" veryyyy much a part of the game. I don't think it gets referred to directly as such, not that I remember, but it's definitely alluded to

Re: NHL 23 (PS5) – The Same as Last Year, with Small Changes

gbanas92

@Would_you_kindly Absolutely! AND the prices of sports titles tend to drop steeply and quickly making it even crazier!

@SilentS I miss those days The ESPN/2K games pushed EA around that time to have to put that extra little bit of effort into the titles which led to all sorts of fun stuff like that! I hope when the next contract is up the NHL considers licensing to multiple publishers, but I'm not expecting it

Re: Mini Review: LEGO Bricktales (PS5) - Solid Puzzler Taps into the Creativity of LEGO

gbanas92

@tselliot It didn't warrant further expansion as there wasn't much more to say than making sure to mention it, but I didn't want to leave it out entirely, as it's still important information!

@Ogbert Oof, did I really come off like that? I LOVE Lego!!!

@AstraeaV Ooooo that would be awesome!

@Titntin THe puzzles where they basically give you a bucket of legos and have you solve the problem however you can are great! I really appreciated how freeform it was!

Re: Mini Review: XIII (PS5) - Improvements Can't Save This Remaster Redo

gbanas92

@GamerDad66 definitely part of the problem. they remade the game within the framework of the original mess, so they could only make things a certain degree better. if they started the entire project over, or if the original devs got it right the first time though, things could have gone differently!

@mrraditch that was the intention haha

Re: Mini Review: XIII (PS5) - Improvements Can't Save This Remaster Redo

gbanas92

@theheadofabroom I vaguely remember not having the best of times with it on PS2 back in the day, so that sounds right haha

@gipsojo Remake the remake of the remake of the remake!

@riceNpea Yeah I just kinda auto-piloted into formatting the article for PS4 when initially setting it up! Should be all squared away now though thanks to @Quintumply !

Re: Isonzo (PS5) - A Solid WW1 Shooter with Some Rough Edges

gbanas92

@PegasusActual93 oh absolutely! I get why there's less general interest in the states, but its still very much a shame. For me, I don't particularly care if it's something specifically centered on the expeditionary force in ww1 so much as it just be something that deals with the event in general, but aside from Battlefield 1, and arguably Valiant Hearts, ww1 content hasn't broken through much as a mainstream success that I can think of

Re: Mini Review: Metal: Hellsinger (PS5) – Brilliant Gameplay Surrounded by Banality

gbanas92

@Cherip-the-Ripper Yep 8! And then each level has 3 mini-challenges ("torments") that are single arenas with gimmicks like "each kill changes your weapon" etc. to unlock new perks for your character. And definitely agreed, every single weapon is great!

@Trousersnake It being a mini review leaves verrrry little leeway to get into the nitty gritty for games unfortunately It can be frustrating sometimes. That being said, more than happy to expand in the comments if you had any specific things you wanted me to talk a little more about!

Re: Mini Review: Metal: Hellsinger (PS5) – Brilliant Gameplay Surrounded by Banality

gbanas92

@Smiffy01 The lowest difficulty setting is set up to if not entirely allow it, definitely give it a little more leeway. Might be worth trying that way just to see! The gunplay is very good, so it's probably still worth it!

@Northern_munkey 60fps if you're using the performance mode which I would say is a must! It hits a higher resolution on the other mode, but I don't think it's native 4K. 1440 as I recall? But it didn't feel right when moving at 30fps. The way motion blur's implemented I think.

Re: Disney Dreamlight Valley (PS5) - An Irresistibly Charming Life Sim

gbanas92

@shonenjump86 Same! I had pretty low expectations, but I've been having a great time with it so far!

@AnnetteM I could totaly see them supporting it that way in the future! I really hope they add a lotta stuff from the Parks at some point too! I wanna deck my house out in Epcot stuff!

@stvevan Hey, maybe they won't put microtransactions into a game that has an economy tailor-made to have microtransactions!

Re: NHL 23 PS5, PS4 Gameplay Trailer Showcases Surprisingly Strong Roster of Improvements

gbanas92

@SacredPYRO I thought Nate was gonna get a cover for years and it just never happened. I feel like so much attention is paid to Cale now though, so I think I'd expect him before Nate now! Kinda like a Drai vs. McDavid thing there it seems as far as leaguewide attention.

Very on board with Zegras though! So great, and definitely the face of their new core with Mctavish, Drysdale, etc.
