@Dezzy70 Do the MS ones top out at 1TB or will there be other options in the future? With PS5 you can have max 4TB so wondered if the same limitation applies to Xbox?
@Reeneman Oh I'm definitely not unhappy, I've not really had many problems. Just the odd crash here and there and a few weird things like the auto syncing of saves saying that there's a clash when the one on the local drive is the same date as the one on the cloud. Other than that I'm very happy which is why I don't want to chance it
I haven't played for a few weeks now. I was having the odd game or two most nights but just haven't had as much time so this is the game that I dropped. I'll try and check this out later.
@Northern_munkey I like the idea of bringing some circuits into it, even if that's every other game it would really mix it up a little.
On twitter they've said that this app will deliver all the controller features along side the trailers e.g. haptics etc. They mention adaptive triggers as well so it'll be interesting to see how that works.
@3MonthBeef Yeah definitely. I used to spend quite a bit of time checking out peoples creations but since getting the PS5 I've been pretty much just playing the big releases and haven't really had time for anything else. Going back to it now will be interesting to see how far things have come.
Really looking forward to getting back into this with the Directors Cut. I can totally get why it doesn’t appeal to everyone but for me it just pulled me in in the first few hours and just got better and better.
Having taken most of the week off being away on holiday I'll be back hopefully making some progress with Demon's Souls. Each time I hit a new boss I wonder how I'm going to ever beat it, but then somehow it just comes together and I edge forward. It's a great game though, really enjoying the entire environment and the choice of options with combat.
There were some reports about Spider-Man: MM saying that the crashing was caused by ray tracing. I wonder if this is a similar issue and actually it might be something in the SDK / system software which hasn't been fully addressed yet.
Here I am banging the drum for Returnal again but for me it definitely uses the controller and 3D audio the best out of all the PS5 games I’ve played so far. It didn’t do activity cards too well though but I don’t think they would ever work well for a game like that. They are better for games where you can jump in at different points so sackboy was obviously perfect for that and they work quite well in Spider-Man too.
The help stuff I have used one and that was in Soulstorm. It worked reasonably well but then I always just forget about it. It almost needs to remind you it’s there, like if they had some annoying paper clip that popped up that would be perfect 🤔
I watched 10 minutes of this yesterday and it looks excellent. It goes into a great level of detail to help understand their process and they sound like they really love the games they remake.
@HeroYoshiko That’s really simplifying it and doesn’t tell the whole story. It’s not just about the way you dodge and shoot, it’s the “feel” of the game. There’s so many small details like the haptic feedback and the 3D sound that just add up to make it more than the sum of its parts. That’s why it becomes addictive.
@Total_Weirdo The platinum isn't actually that hard to achieve once you've finished the game. Due to the random nature of the game it just takes time for things to fall into line but if you enjoy playing the game then you might as well go for it.
This is exactly how I feel about the game. I was never someone who got on with the idea of having to do the same bits over and over again but Returnal is just so good to play that I just don't mind. I've even carried on playing even though I've got the platinum and that doesn't happen often.
I'd urge anyone on the fence about this game to give it a chance and it will reward you. Every victory is hard won but you will so appreciate it when you do win.
I'm still hoping for some DLC, and hell I'd probably even pay for it!
I missed the SoP last night but I did watch the DS video this morning as that was the one game I was really excited about. It's an absolute bargain of an update though and I know I'd enjoy playing through the base game again anyway so all these extras are just icing on the cake - and I do like cake!!
Woah that looks like a totally different game to the one I remember! The combat was ok but there weren't too many options in the way of weapons and melee combat was fairly rudimentary. For $10, or whatever this costs in the UK, I'll definitely be picking this up.
@AK4tywill @Reeneman Never played Alan Wake but really want to after playing through Control. I know it's a totally different game but still great to see what fed into the AWE DLC. Be great if it was both a remake of the original and a new game 😄
I'll maybe catch up on it later. Would be great if there's some good looking indies shown off. I'm not convinced by Deathloop though having not really liked Arkane's previous offerings.
@CynicalGamer I tell you how far people will go to ruin a premium priced game... I saw one person say they'd bought the game digitally and then couldn't get past the 1st boss so then went and bought a physical copy as well so that they could run version 1.0 which had the dev cheats enabled.
@AgentGuapo Congrats on the plat!! I must have played around 100 hours to get it but find a reason to play even now. I'd be over the moon if they dropped some DLC for this though.
@Fenbops I had a few crashes and lost some progress when my save got corrupted so totally feel your pain on that. The game was just so fun to play for me that I brushed it off and carried on but I understand not everyone might feel that way.
It would be good if it was an option and there if you wanted to use it.
@Fenbops For me I wouldn't be against one being added so more people feel comfortable with the game. Speaking for myself though I didn't really use rest mode to save a run either as usually I needed to "warm up" first before feeling like I was properly in the groove. If I'd have saved and exited and come back to it later I most likely would have died straight away from not being up to speed 😂
@Jayphex You should hop over to the Returnal thread, there's plenty of advice on there and people willing to help give some tips.
This is just an awesome game. I would say to anyone on the fence and waiting for a save feature, you can definitely make progress even if you can only play for an hour or two at a time. Yes a save feature would be nice, but it's definitely not necessary.
@Floki Yes I can see your point about the Mac but I still think that's a little proprietary for what I'm thinking. I think that there would be some sort of certification program for components but that they would be PC parts, in the same way that Sony are certifying the M2 drives that we will be allowed to install in our PS5s. That way you don't have all the hassle that you get with PC as you are 99% certain that something is going to work with it.
Basically what I want is for someone to take away all that hassle for me and provide me with some options so that I can upgrade beyond what my machine is currently capable of but without having to wait for the next major revision of hardware.
@Floki No that's not what I'm asking for at all, we already have that. What I'm suggesting is something that combines the best of both worlds. The ease of use of a console coupled with the upgradability of a PC. With that setup then you could get new features by adding a new graphics card or upgrading the internal drive etc. The parts wouldn't be proprietary so you'd be able to buy an off the shelf AMD or Nvidia card, that way the prices are competitive. The PS eco system would be extended onto the PC so you'd have things like the PS store etc, and potentially even the ability to side load things too. For people who are just into gaming and want a streamlined experience then it means you don't need that other all purpose OS.
Edit: And just to add to that, not everyone who might be into PC gaming wants to tinker but might want to have the cool new shiny stuff.
@ArcticSin For me personally I got fed up with PC gaming because I seemed to spend more time fixing issues with Windows and drivers than I did actually playing games. I'm sure there are lots of people out there who like that tinkering you have to do to just play games but that's not me. Now if there was an OS that did away with all that BS then I'd be up for that as it means you can actually spend quality time just playing games. You are right in that freebsd is available already but it won't have access to the Playstation GUI plus all of the integration with the PS services and the SDK etc. They would all need to be added on top to get to what PS OS offers.
It's a shame Sony don't do a port of PlayStation OS to the PC, that way you could have the flexibility of the PC ecosystem with an OS designed specifically for gaming, ease of use and integration with PSN etc. I'm sure there's lots of hurdles to overcome like driver support and keeping it updated etc but that would be an interesting proposition.
Glad there's A Plague Tale for PS5 but if I only had a PS4 I'd be pretty disappointed. Maybe some people like controlling sweaty men touching each other up though so hey there probably is something for everyone!
Edit: Sorry just to correct myself, I think there are plenty of sweaty women in WWE these days as well.
Control is a great game. I played on a base PS4 where it definitely had performance issues but it was just about playable. I quite liked the odd universe it lived in and it would be great to see more of that. It’ll be interesting to see how they can work multiplayer into that.
It's likely that MS paid more money for this to include the PS5 version when it was released as it is currently available on the service. The PS+ deal was probably cheaper and just included the PS4 version which was available at the time. Now if Sony wanted to include the PS5 version in that they would likely have to pay more money per user that took that option. Personally I'd rather they put that money towards something else down the line.
A game doesn't have to be big to make it good and Returnal shows that. I've actually sunk loads more hours into that game than I have some much bigger games just because it's been so much fun to play. What Housemarque did with it was take those elements that made the arcade games what they were and delivered them in a much more modern package. Re: Sony Rolling Out PS5 Internal SSD Access in Next Beta Update
If being an early adopter of the PS5 is being a beta tester then does that make you a beta-beta tester?
Will definitely wait until the full release as I don't want to risk swapping my PS5 for a brick.

Happy to wait if it makes for a better product. Got lots to play in the meantime.
Re: Sony Issues Sales Updates for Major PS5 Games, Most Exceed One Million
@AgentGuapo It's easily mine too. If they came out and said they were going to do some DLC for it or even a NG+ then I'd made over the moon.
Re: Sony Issues Sales Updates for Major PS5 Games, Most Exceed One Million
@RBMango Yes definitely would have been good to see how those games sold as well. I've bought both and both are great games.
Good to see Returnal doing well considering a lot of people were hung up on either the price, the difficultly or the lack of being able to save.

What, no Abandoned option? I might have chosen that.
Seriously though it's got to be Horizon, Stray, and Sifu looks like it might be quite good.
Re: Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut Bundles in New Island Expansion, Coming to PS5 and PS4
So $30 to go from PS4 standard to PS5 DS is probably £30 then. Hmmm I really liked the game but I think I'd like to know how much this adds.

Re: Insomniac Games Now Hiring for PS5 Multiplayer Project
I think the problem with multiplayer vs single player is that mp games are only playable if there’s a large enough player base. SP games can be played even years later and you’ll get the same experience, but if most of the player base has moved on to a different MP game then the game might be unplayable at worst case or difficult to get a game at best. That’s not to say they can’t be successful it’s just that they need to maintain that player base constantly to stay relevant.
It’s even more annoying if you’ve sunk a lot of money into a game and then they shut it down because not enough people are playing it.
Anyway that’s being down on MP games which I’m not, I’m just trying to point out why having too many MP games is detrimental compared to having too many SP games.
