Re: PS Plus July 2021 PS5, PS4 Games Announced

tomassi

Can I just go back to the moment when loads of cry babies got PES (arguably the best football game around) swapped because they don't like sport. Presumably we will all be doing the same with WWE, baring in mind it's WRESTLING (seriously who outside of 12 year olds and American 'bros' like it) AND terrible? AND it's on, or been on, PS Now (quelle surprise).

Let's not even get started on COD. It's an old multiplayer only game. Not even a campaign. Come on Sony. This is lame.

Re: Olympic Games Tokyo 2020: The Official Video Game (PS4) - A Golden Return to SEGA's Arcade Origins

tomassi

I'm tempted to get this because who doesn't like a Track and Field type game for a bit of family fun. Seriously have to question why they've put things in like Football, Rugby and Tennis though instead of events that scream Olympics a bit more. I mean, if I want to play football I'm going to pick up a football game like FIFA or PES aren't I? Same goes for Baseball, Basketball and Tennis.

And then you look and the likes of 200m, 400m, pole vault, triple jump, gymnastics, javelin, shot put etc are missing. Oh, and diving, archery, weightlifting and numerous others.

Very strange decision by SEGA. I'll wait for a sale I guess.

Re: Bethesda Apologises to PS5, PS4 Fans 'P*ssed' at Exclusivity

tomassi

Not a fan of Bethesda games really (played some Wolfenstein New Order) so this doesn't bother me particularly. If I did some how get into their back catalogue though, does that mean I would no longer be able to play Doom, Fallout 4 etc on PS? Are they being removed from the store, or is it just future releases not appearing?

Re: All Signs Point to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on PS Now

tomassi

In theory The Witcher is strong AAA to add to Now. In reality it's a 6/7 year old game that most people have played and usually costs less than a tenner every other month in a sale. If they even suggest that this is a timed exclusive, that's going to be embarrassing.

Re: PS Plus June 2021 PS5, PS4 Games Announced

tomassi

Not a great month for me personally, but only because I already own SW Squadrons, otherwise I would have been more than happy with that. The other two don't interest me but that's fine. More than enough to play anyway. And it's EURO 2020 in a couple of weeks so I won't have much time to play anyway!

Re: Olympic Games Tokyo 2020: The Official Video Game Finally Releasing Outside of Japan Next Month

tomassi

Love a good Track and Field game, right back from Daley Thompsons Decathlon on Spectrum! Not sure why they've included things like football, baseball, basketball, tennis and rugby though? That hardly screams Olympics to me. And those modes aren't exactly going to better FIFA, NBA2K, The Show etc so I can't believe they would be a huge draw for many people.

It's even worse when you look at the list and the likes of javelin, triple jump, archery, gymnastics, diving and weightlifting aren't included.

Re: New Tony Hawk Game Coming, Says CKY Drummer

tomassi

@Total_Weirdo first off I'd say, what a guy out of a band refers to as new or remastered is neither here nor there. They probably don't really know or care about the difference.

And the other thing I'd say is, if Vicarious Visions AREN'T at the helm, I'd be careful wishing for a totally new game (cough THPS5 cough). I'd rather the safety net of a similar experience to what we just got, but for THPS3 and maybe 4 as well.

IMO.

Re: New PS Store Sale Discounts 250 PS5, PS4 Retro Games and Remasters

tomassi

@Xenomorph_79 when you say Sony shutting down servers, surely that only matters for online only games, so it wouldn't matter if you had digital or disc, you still wouldn't be able to play it?

If I bought a game digital and had downloaded it to my library, I can't see at what point in time I'd never be able to play it again?

Re: Ubisoft Strategy to Include More Free-to-Play Games Going Forward

tomassi

Terrible idea! Unless they somehow strike absolute gold with one of their games, which is unlikely, they have no chance in that market. Once the likes of Fortnite and Warzone (and Apex) get that audience, it's hard to get it back off them again as they are such established brands.

It's akin to trying to start a new social network now to take on Facebook. There's no point. It's already on pretty much everyone human beings mobile phone and most people are a) sheep and b) not that bothered to change to something else. It kind of becomes like when you stick with the same bank forever, even if they offer worse savings rates, because the alternative is to cancel all your direct debits and it just seems too much hassle!

Like, people aren't going to think "I know, I'll ditch my 5 years of progress on Fortnite to play this new game that's come out which is fairly similar anyway and that none of my friends play". Sure, some will, but vast majority won't because they like what is familiar. Whether that yields profits anyway, I have no idea. Seems like a stupid idea though.

Re: PS Store Extended Play Sale Shares More PS5, PS4 Game Deals

tomassi

Most of these games have been in sales millions of times by now, but imagine if you had only just purchase a PS4 for example. You could feasibly pick up Tomb Raider, Sleeping Dogs, Need for Speed, Little Nightmares, Just Cause 3, Star Wars Battlefront, Oxenfree all for less than £25 in total. You can argue about the merits of those games individually, but for value for money for a new gamer, that's awesome!

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Has Now Spent Over Four Months Missing from PS Store

tomassi

I've probably asked this before but I can't remember the answer. If everyone owns the same game, and plays it on the same console (lets just say PS4 Pro for arguments sake), how is everyone not experiencing the same bugs etc?! How can one person say it ran terribly and one person say they've never experienced any game breaking bugs???

Re: Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Gameplay Trailer Looks Simply Sublime

tomassi

@KayOL77 I never buy games full price. I'm a grown adult with kids and commitments. I'm not going to spend £70 (which is a lot of money!) on a video game. It's nothing personal. I'm just never desperate enough to play something as soon as it comes out. I'm sure the studio behind R&C earn quite a bit more money than I do, so I won't feel too bad about it.

Re: Days Gone Lead Designer Thanks Fans for Playing the Game No Matter How Much Money They Spent

tomassi

Hyothetical situation, but basically the same:

CDPR: People should f*****g buy games day one to support studios.

Gamers: Errrrrr

You see, studio's, if they want to be supported by gamers with day one purchases etc, need to get their heads out of the clouds and make games that are finished and work, from day one. I didn't play DG because I have no interest in it, but from what I've read it was buggy at launch. Well, why should someone put down a not inconsiderable amount of money on something that doesn't work 100%?

Re: What Would the Super League Mean for FIFA 22?

tomassi

@DonJorginho fair do's mate. We all love our teams. Hence why most of us are opposed to this ESL! Glad it's collapsed.

Now we need the 51% thing, and, if I had my way a return to the days of the European Cup, UEFA Cup and Cup Winners Cup!!

Re: What Would the Super League Mean for FIFA 22?

tomassi

@thefourfoldroot but it's not an 'invitational' tournament. It's a tournament set up by 12 teams that they can compete in amongst themselves. Sure they may invite some special guests every season (a whole five teams across the WHOLE of Europe) but it's essentially for themselves.

The history of football is woven into those local rivalries (in my case Southampton v Portsmouth) or the David v Goliath FA Cup slayings, or the drama filled Champions League evenings (Lucas Moura's hat trick against Ajax in the SF being prime drama, or Liverpool's comeback in Istanbul against AC Milan). What it isn't is a league table amongst clubs who aren't even from the same country therefore have no historic meaning to their matches.

And all of the big clubs pretty much 90% of the time end up playing in the QF of the CL anyway, so surely the idea of this league is moot? What's the point when the CL latter stages are largely predictable affairs anyway? Seriously, the only time they are interesting is when you get a Spurs, Ajax or Atalanta or someone making a surprise run. It gives you someone to root for against the perennial big boys.

And, I don't mean to insult you, but if you really love football that much you surely understand the meaning behind all this history etc that we have? And surely you can see that it MEANS something more than just binning it off so we can watch Neymar and Mbappe v Messi every other week?

Re: What Would the Super League Mean for FIFA 22?

tomassi

@DonJorginho oh diddums, you were pressured to sign up because everyone else was. Who told you that? Roman?! What a load of rubbish. They're just trying to save face. Abramovich was one of the first billionaire owners to come into the EPL, which prompted loads of others because everyone had to try and compete with what he was spending at the time. So, yeah, he IS one of the main reasons the top division is in this mess. Clubs need, like Germany, to be owned majority by the fans, 51% or more. End of story. These clubs mean more to generations of fans in communities than they ever will to billionaire owners and that includes Abramovich I'm afraid.

Oh, and I support Southampton.

Re: What Would the Super League Mean for FIFA 22?

tomassi

@DonJorginho haha, give me a break. 3 days ago he was about to sell your club down the river. Then because everyone goes mad about it he has to change his mind. Now he's a hero?!

People like Abramovich are why football is in such a state in the first place.

Re: What Would the Super League Mean for FIFA 22?

tomassi

@thefourfoldroot you don't support a team, so you're argument is fairly invalid to be honest. You are part of the problem that these billionaires are trying to aim at. The desire for people with no vested interest in the history or community of a team, to just watch Mbappe and Neymar because they're the only players they know.

I mean, why would some 'fan' from Africa or Asia care about Wrexham beating Arsenal in the FA Cup in 1992, or Leicester (who the hell are THEY?!?!?!!?!) winning the league in 2016, or small clubs like Atalanta qualifying and getting to QF of Champions League. Honestly, it's embarrassing. The default setting for any of these people is "I know Messi, Ronaldo (sorry, R9), Mbappe and Neymar. Do I need to know anyone else"?? I've no problem with this product being global but don't try and ruin it for everyone else. Don't try and wash away hundreds of years of history and community because team A doesn't have Messi in their lineup, therefore you can't be bothered to watch them.

The point about mid-table Premier League games being meaningless also doesn't carry weight BECAUSE of the history of the teams competing. There are rivalries, local derbies etc. What history does Spurs v Atletico Madrid have at the end of another boring repetitive ESL season, when Spurs have lost all their games AGAIN because they are worse than all the others. Nothing. It means nothing. There is no history there. There's probably no fans there either. Because, apart from you it seems, no one wanted it in the first place.

And, yes the teams had no intention of leaving their leagues, of course they didn't. They wanted their cake and they wanted to eat it. They would rightly have been kicked out anyway though. The Champions League has ruined football enough as it is, let alone this new league if it happened.

I'm old enough to remember when there was a European Cup (for, y'know, the clubs who actually win their leagues, not finish 4th), the UEFA Cup (for the runners up) and the Cup Winners Cup (doesn't need explanation)! It was perfect. Then the CL came along and we have huge disparities at the top of the game. Clubs who were giants of world football are barely heard of anymore. I could pretty much dictate to you the QF lineups of most CL seasons, in advance (Real, PSG, Bayern, Barca, Liverpool, City etc). It's boring enough as it is, we don't need to make it more boring.

Re: What Would the Super League Mean for FIFA 22?

tomassi

@thefourfoldroot the FA and government came out and said they would kick out any teams from the doemstic league who are taking part in the ESL. That's why fans are annoyed. These are clubs that have been in their communities for well over a hundred years. People LIKE to watch their Liverpool team play Southampton, or Leeds. If that was all taken away just to please some billionaires and 'fans' in other countries who have no ties to these clubs other than social media and playing FIFA, then football is dead. Their team as they know it is dead. Hundreds of years of history, dead.

And even if they were allowed to stay in the Premier League, the revenue they would have got from the ESL means the other teams would have had even less chance to compete than they do now.

So, yes, it's brilliant news it's collapsed. BUT football is in a helluva state anyway and needs urgent reform from the ground up. Like in Germany, all clubs should be 51% or more owned/governed by their fans, thus preventing foreign billionaires with no interest in fans or history, to make decisions like this.

Re: What Would the Super League Mean for FIFA 22?

tomassi

@thefourfoldroot I think the point is, every game WOULDN'T have been important in such a league. Because it's closed. You can't get relegated. So once someone has won the league, the rest of the games in the season just become meaningless. Almost exibition matches in effect. No one wants that. People love football because it offers you hope and dreams. It makes you happy when you win and sad when you lose. Even more so if you are near the top or bottom of the league, or get knocked out of a cup or win a final.

Re: What Would the Super League Mean for FIFA 22?

tomassi

I'm a Spurs fan and am disgusted they would consider this and, considering how bad we are, embarrassed. It's one thing wanting to play the same 12 teams over and over again until monotony, it's another LOSING every one of those games as well!!

Re: More Free PS4 Games and Offers Coming Soon, Sony Confirms

tomassi

Another big Sony exclusive would be cool - Death Stranding, Gran Turismo or Lost Legacy maybe?

And then a handful of smaller indie games like last time would be cool - Dead Cells, Firewatch, Hyper Light Drifter, Moving Out, Guacamelee 2. Things like that.

The best thing about this is, even if you already own and played the game via PS Plus or PS Now, it's STILL a bonus because you get to keep it if you ever cancel.

Re: Rumour: Sony Planning 'Counterpunch' to Xbox Game Pass

tomassi

@kingv84 I know, I just don't really care because I don't play on my phone and I don't have a PC. The big question is, if you can stream on those two systems, why can't you stream the games on XBOX? I don't know why you'd want to, but the option would be good, seeing as Now offers it (albeit pretty badly).

Re: Rumour: Sony Planning 'Counterpunch' to Xbox Game Pass

tomassi

@kingv84 pretty sure Gamepass doesn't offer streaming, merely downloading. NOW can't offer downloading of PS3 games, and the streaming quality is average or, depending your country non-existant, so I'd cull them entirely and open it up to all countries. It might just be my OCD though that thinks merely PS4/5 downloads is less messy.
