Re: Sony Publishing and Collaborating on Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake for PS5

DeadManInBlack

I appreciate people being pissed that KOTOR is a timed exclusive especially when it's not in the favour of a platform that had the original from the get go but I'd be more worried about the fact it's not the bioware team behind the original and this game is being rewritten for 2021 including a writer for the Mary Sue who likes to trash talk fans, hates on men and the 'patriarchy' especially if the don't like Rey and the Last Jedi.

This reeks of Masters of the Universe on Netflix and Kevin Smith the guy who announced he didn't like He-Man and then got awarded showrunning duties for a He-Man based show so don't expect the same game everyone knows and loves, I won't judge if it's better or worse until it's out but it doesn't bode well.

Re: Mystery Square Enix IP Getting Multiple Remakes

DeadManInBlack

@Porco yeah you're right they even had a limited release of Xenogears action fictures including Fei, Elly and Weltall it's why following games with Nintendo are labelled as Xenosaga though the games are spiritually linked.

Whilst I'd love Xenogears considering the article labels it multiple remakes of the same property it's going to be a game with multiple titles such as Final Fantasy, I'd perhaps say it's not even going to be Chrono sadly

Re: The Last of Us 2 Dominates Game Awards 2020 Nominations

DeadManInBlack

@Esuazo10 I think you made fair points about the game I'll be honest once you get past the small minority of true haters a lot of fans feel similar including myself just everyone buddles us with them as it's easier than listening to feedback that they don't want to hear.

I disagree when people think we should empathise with Abby, if she'd killed some randomer that killed her dad fair enough but she killed Joel the guy you spent 30 hrs playing, trying to look after what was effectively an adopted daughter by the end of the game. Hell I'd even settle for an outright revenge game even if Ellie decided to let Abby live, whilst not very original I would have enjoyed it more than being forced to play a character I neither liked, added anything new game play wise or empathised with, I just think it was a very poor choice inserting the Abby arc and was put in the there thinking it was bold and original.

Whilst visually stunning and certain elements were better in Last of Us I thought Ghost was the better alrounder, I much preferred Jin and his Uncles relationship, hell even Peter Parker and Dr Octavius had a better character relationship to what I saw in Last of Us.

Based on the media reaction compared to the player reaction to the releases of Last of Us and Ghost I would not be surprised if Last of Us gets all the game awards, they are just like they Oscars totally out of touch. I just feel this all about keeping console god's happy.

Personally for the games I enjoyed the most in 2020 are below though I'd drop Last of Us way down the list when compared to all games this gen.

1) Ghost of Tsushima
2) Final Fantasy VII Remake
3) Last of Us 2

Re: Sony Plans to Make Advancements to VR with PS5

DeadManInBlack

My deal breaker for vr was the lack of creativity with the tech and everything looking like a budget $20 game due to the lack of horsepower, games like grounded or any of the survival games/Minecraft would be a good start and would appeal more to the masses.

Personally I'd like to see full VR compatibility for Ace Combat, Armored Core, a Gundam game or any mainstream FPS, Fallen Order would be a great title I think to play VR if done right or being able to play regular games as a TV alternative especially if you have a way to stream from your PS5

Re: Marvel’s Avengers Trailer Proves Sony Aren't the Only Bad Guys

DeadManInBlack

I can see why people had issues with this game, it needs polish like one scene where Kamala was going through the archive which is just like Lara crawling between rocks so Crystal Dynamics should be well practiced at that she just clipped through a knocked over book case stood up, no animation or crouching.

Personally I enjoyed a lot of bits too, the coop was fun for a quick 20 min mission which after work sometimes is all I need. I do the same with Gundam Battle Operation.

The story has potential I liked the bits with abomination and hulk it felt like the comics, like they had history and hints about hulk not being right i.e not being the big green and getting injured/lack of near insta healing

I think the one word that describes this game is potential it's got all the right parts but they've just not been stuck together very well, personally if I was Square/Crystal I would have released the beta 6 months ago took some feedback and made improvements or delayed the game for 6 months. Several months worth of patches and a $20-$30 price reduction I'll will probably pick this up

Re: A Bunch More PS5 Box Art Has Emerged

DeadManInBlack

Yeah agree with everyone about the mixed colours should have been a black box but then I don't don't know if there is some issue with games having the same style boxes as video media as games have always had different cases and the black cases would be the same as 4k discs

Re: Marvel's Avengers Rubs Salt in the Wound with Spider-Man Sticker on PS4 Box

DeadManInBlack

@Bigdog1318 click bait stuff like this brings out people's agressive side you only have to look at the tone of the some the comments and that equals traffic, otherwise they'd just see the headline and skip past the whole article as what else is there to say that couldn't be said in the headline as others metioned 'Spider-man sticker appears on PS4 boxart' job done no one reads the article.

Re: EA Could Be Considering Warner Bros Gaming Division Buyout

DeadManInBlack

Well either a EA or Microsoft buyout will be the end of those studios I've not seen a purchase from either where all the talent hasn't ended up leaving, they just become a shell with only the developer brand i.e bioware and ruined IP's being left behind, new corporate masters have big ideas and like to push people around like any new boss really

Re: After The Last of Us 2's Review Bombing Scandal, Metacritic Paused Ghost of Tsushima Verdicts

DeadManInBlack

In both games there is going to be bias, for whatever reasons the media gave TLOU2 10/10, very best a 9 the story was worse than the first and gameplay mechanics only slightly improved, because of a combinations of the media scores, the major story decisions that made alot of people feel betrayed and the YouTube attacks people lashed out and gave it rubbish scores.

With GoT it will be the opposite the media giving a more fair review and I do think the scores are more accurate, it's more beautiful than TLOU2 graphics wise with a story at a similar level i.e a big revenge story though the game mechanics still need a bit of polish, I suspect it will gets Days Gone level of improvements over time. This time the user reviews will be 10/10 due the above bits about TLOU2 along with rubbing it in against the culture appropriation Twitter trolls even though Famitsu and the Japanese love it, white people get offended on behalf of others again.

Personally I dont trust meta like I don't trust media sites or rotten tomatoes for review scores, I'll make my own decision on whether I buy based on other information like screen shots, gameplay vids, content breakdowns. Like everything I may enjoy something others hate or vice versa so for me there is really no point worrying about reviews of other people whether they are 'professional' or amateur.

Re: More Publishers Pondering PS5 Game Price Hikes

DeadManInBlack

Can see this hitting the pre orders of new titles big style, we've already got $100 ultimate editions which I think is a ripoff if you want the dlc and season passes, I just can't see how offering anymore content will justify price increases like this.

Only games I can see me getting full price are truly special ones like Cyberpunk and Ghost of Tsushima, no more conveyor belt titles like COD and Assassin's Creed

Re: Xbox Boss Believes Microsoft Is in Very Good Position, Will Be Able to Demonstrate Hardware Advantages Over PS5

DeadManInBlack

All this hardware/schlong size comparison means nothing it's gonna come to preference of system and quality of games like it always has, sorry but Xbox relies on two exclusive franchises for big sales Halo and Gears both of which are past their sell by date the rest are multi platform, no staggered release (so far) so people won't just pick up the first console out the gate.

Re: Ex-PlayStation Boss Wants to See 15 Hour AAA Titles Return

DeadManInBlack

I have no problems paying $60 for a new title if it's something I'm interested even if it's a weekend completion game like Devil May Cry V I'll be honest I have more fun with these than 80hr+ like AC Odyssey where half the time spent is pure exploration with nothing much to do than kill random wild life that attacks. Games like Avengers where it looks average at best and will probably be a short game that'll be one for the sales. Pacing is everything there shouldn't be loads of drops in action for an action focused game.

Re: Marvel's Avengers Gets Free PS5 Upgrade, Offers 60FPS Dynamic 4K Mode

DeadManInBlack

@rjejr yeah Sony is lagging behind, personally if I was them I'd take a different route and perhaps charge a bit more and get big releases on there straight including 3rd party titles. Apologies I thought it was the Ultimate pass for PC and Xbox gaming which is like £10.99 over here.

I worry that we will get a netflix situation where the catalogue will get so big and we will be playing one out several hundred titles, old titles are nice but I think I'd rather just get them cheap in the sale.

From what I've heard they are working with MS Azure for PSN improvements whether that includes major changes to how we can access our games ?

Re: Marvel's Avengers Gets Free PS5 Upgrade, Offers 60FPS Dynamic 4K Mode

DeadManInBlack

@tameshiyaku agreed I'd rather have the checkerboard and 60fps, this is isn't like movies where we're gonna get a lot of close ups and still scenes apart from the actors where there will be a noticeable difference in quality. I just hope the graphics options become common place and you can pick and HDR is a forced standard by MS/Sony in regards to menu settings too many variations out there with varying degrees of success.

Re: Marvel's Avengers Gets Free PS5 Upgrade, Offers 60FPS Dynamic 4K Mode

DeadManInBlack

Whilst free upgrades are sweet these are effectively still backwards compatible titles. What I don't want to see is true PS5 remasters come out a year later as that's just going to confuse the market and people will feel cheated.

CDProjekt have got the best idea and releasing a basic PS5 patch with improvements and then a full graphics upgrade patch later that brings it up to full next gen standards.

Re: Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales PS5 Trailer Returns to YouTube After Copyright Claim

DeadManInBlack

It's not even seconds of copyrighted materials it's memes or just discussing without specifics, the copyright system is so in favour of the person making the strikes with little to no repercussions, content creators simply have to wait out the time period for the person/company making the strikes to provide evidence for the strike, if they don't respond the video is released by YouTube but they also have opportunity to strike the same video again once.released.

I don't think anyone here is arguing discussing the spoilers isnt great or posting any leaked content isnt illegal but the fact of the matter is content creators had strikes against them simply for discussing the TLOU2 in a negative way based on the leaked information no specifics were discussed, no copyright material, not even box art or released art work. You can easily discuss how you think the story sucks without actually saying any specifics of the story.

If Sony/Naughty Dog/MUSO had a leg to stand on those strikes would have been held in place they simply were doing it remove any videos that were discussing the TLOU2 in a not so positive way and also creators discussing strike abuse relating to the leaks which again doesn't paint Naughty Dog in a positive way, they weren't in the right and they knew it which is why they didn't push it further.

Re: The Last of Us: Part II - Essential Sequel Is Naughty Dog's Best Effort

DeadManInBlack

I'm going to wait for reviews from non mainstream media sites upon release, whilst I hope the scores are warranted I'm always suspect when it's so high across the board see Captain Marvel interference from Disney and considering the shady DMCA tactics used against YouTube creators/Amy Hennig being pushed out I'm not convinced of Naughty Dog being a good company anymore.

For those purchasing it straight away I'm sure you'll love it, I'm just doing this for myself when spare funds are a luxury I don't really have.

Re: PS5 Digital Edition Exists for Consumers Who 'Purchase Solely Digitally'

DeadManInBlack

Disc version for me simply because I've got a big catalogue of physical media for movies/TV a lot of which are 4K now, when your getting to that level of quality on a big TV compression makes a difference.

Also considering what's been going off with TV and films being pulled, edited, lI think physical media is still important.

For games I'm all digital now and have been since 1st year of the PS3 days but I don't think censorship is going to be the same kind of problem and they'll just role out a patch if they want to edit it and the extra shelf space/lack of dusting is awesome and I've just mgot enough room for my PS3/PS2/PSOne discs.

There is also the potential that backwards compatibility will still be a big thing so if you've got physical discs of any generation it might be worth going for the disc version.

The disc less version is a great option though and for me would make an awesome secondary console or media station if you use a lot of streaming apps.

Re: Sony Bosses Want PS5 Event to Be as Professional as Possible, Multiple Shows Were Apparently Refused Earlier This Year

DeadManInBlack

@ChipBoundary Thanks for the suggestion, I did have a clean of the fans a few months back but to be honest there was barely any dust. Both mine and my brothers were the same which were purchased at the same time via Amazon. It's a known issue with the launch pro's especially when running 4k/HDR, as Zeke mentioned they have made variants which have improved the problem.

@Zeke68 haha very lucky daughter but its great you've got something you can do together, sadly in my house any goodies like that I have to buy for myself and anyone else. I do have the amazon extended warranty for two more years I believe so if it packs up I'll get a voucher code or it repaired/replaced.

Re: Sony Bosses Want PS5 Event to Be as Professional as Possible, Multiple Shows Were Apparently Refused Earlier This Year

DeadManInBlack

@Zeke68

Which is good, there is nothing worse than a company not willing to make improvements or listen to feedback. Have you had any experience with the later models?

As a launch console owner you kinda have to expect improved versions will come later though including my launch Xbox One X which also sounds like a jet, it would be nice to have something quiet from the start

Re: Sony Bosses Want PS5 Event to Be as Professional as Possible, Multiple Shows Were Apparently Refused Earlier This Year

DeadManInBlack

@Zeke68 Thank you for the apology it's much appreciated

And definitely not an anti PS5 post I plan on getting both like this gen but PS5 first out of the two, my apologies if it came across passive agressive.

Yes you make some good points I merely based it on that Sony always tend to reveal console and controller at the same time, the dual sense being shown months in advance is unusual especially when Microsoft have already shown everything, I suppose you could argue they wanted to give us something after the Xbox reveal but weren't happy with what was available to show on the game side of things for main console reveal.

The other thing I was wondering that would still allow for the point you made about the electronics is the case itself, the Pro gets so hot and ramps up the fan noise because of the poor airflow it provides, you could potentially make adjustments to chassis and allow for better airflow and lower fan rpm without changing too much if anything to the electronics though I understand what you mean about production.

I suppose the the PS4 reveal/release were pretty close together June and November 2013 I believe, either way I hope they have something far quieter than the Pro, playing RDR2 with HDR was pretty distracting with the fans ramping up even when its on a totally open shelf.

Re: Sony Bosses Want PS5 Event to Be as Professional as Possible, Multiple Shows Were Apparently Refused Earlier This Year

DeadManInBlack

@Zeke68 as I said my theory no where did I say it was fact so please drop the insults there was no need for it at all.

Also seeing as the series X was revealed in December 2019 based on your time scales by the time the reveal happens assuming its even in June that's 6 months. Oh in regards to last minute design changes did you not see the PS3 boomerang controller this patent was renewed last year for a 13 year old controller that was never produced, patents mean nothing until the final product is revealed.

Re: Sony Bosses Want PS5 Event to Be as Professional as Possible, Multiple Shows Were Apparently Refused Earlier This Year

DeadManInBlack

My theory is Sony went back to the design drawing board for the console external design to sort the cooling/fan noise post series X reveal which is why we had the dual sense reveal and not the console. If the PS5 is running a similar setup to Xbox but the Microsoft made a shell with near silent cooling in mind and the PS5 was originally going to look something like the Dev kit i suspect it would be jet engine vs water cooled PC is the dB department and we now how many people hate the PS4 Pro fan noise.
