The last couple of AC games looked good at first sight but when I watched gameplay of it I always had this feeling of 'been there done that'. It looks like the biggest change through the years was more focus on RPG elements, which translates to a situation where you cannot progress the main story because your level is not high enough and you have to do more side quests, even though you don't want to...
The last Ubisoft open world game I played and enjoyed was Far Cry 5, mainly because they gave you a lot of freedom to progress how you wanted. There are 3 sections and you can do them in any order. They also ditched the archaic 'tower climbing mechanic'. There is also super easy fast travel, companions can be called upon at any moment, there is just a lot of freedom. Maybe it's a bit casual but that is probably what I liked about it. Not every game has to be a full fledged RPG like The Witcher.
@Bartig I thought controls were pretty decent to be honest. Of course it takes some getting used to and it's not as easy as a keyboard and mouse but it didn't bother me that much. Shame to hear because it was a great game otherwise.
@get2sammyb yeah but I dont play a lot of them. Splinter Cell was great back in the days, and if I play something like Far Cry I usually play as sneaky as possible. I also played a little bit of Deus Ex but that allways felt a bit clunky.
@get2sammyb I tried to get into Dishonored but I couldn't. I played on normal difficulty but I got spotted all the time resulting in chaos and me waiting in a corner with a pistol shooting everybody that comes through the door. And there were too many collectibles that distracted from the story but felt essential for leveling up your character. I gave up after 2 missions unfortunately.
I think I'll sign up for the trial of PS Now as I can then try Mudrunner and see if this is for me. and being able to play Control is a nice bonus as well.
Got a steering wheel some weeks ago so Im mostly playing project cars 2. And Im playing Elite Dangerous when Im not racing. Just visited Colonia for the 1st time and now on my way to galactic center
I got up to about 50-75 percent of the game but it never really clicked. Gameplay was clunky and repetitive in my opinion and too many bugs for a 1st party release. Maybe it also wasnt the right game in the right time for me as I'm not a big fan of open world games anymore and I can handle only so many of them in a year.
Good to hear it received proper support after launch and other people are enjoying it a lot.
"The Far Cry franchise doesn't exactly do memorable moments or characters" Really? Vaas was a good example, but that cult leader in Far Cry 5 and his followers were excellent characters imo. Some missions in 5 were pretty memorable too.
Looks pretty interesting. Depending on the price I will probably get this at some point. Seems a nice change of pace from the regular games I play (racing things and shooting things usually, allthough some elite dangerous here and there too)
I got the first UC bundled with my PS3 and left in the seal for years. When I finally got around to playing it I ended up really enjoying it. Played the second one many years later but didn't like it that much. The pattern of shooting guys followed by a puzzle got a bit stale. Also I didn't feel much like a good guy after murdering a couple dozen museum guards in the first mission.
Never got around to the 3rd of 4th and don't think I will.
@suikoden Actually it's been a year and half. I've never even played the game to be honest, and I have no intention to. FO4 was enough of a letdown for me.
It looks like an apple device. maybe in black it looks better. tbh I don't really care about the looks that much, as long as it's functions well. I'm still not sure what haptic feedback means? A sort of feedback function on the trigger buttons itself?
Absolutely brilliant game.
-The tracks looked phenomenal with a lot of varied locaties and point to point races (which are always my favourite in any racing game).
Also a fantastic car list (admittedly not a lot of asian cars though) with a lot of attention for detail.
The photo mode was second to none.
The handling was accessible but at the same time had enough depth to be fun and challenging.
Engine sounds were great.
And what was also really cool was how the game would always find a ghost time that was just a little better than you, so you could keep improving yourself again and again.
@DonJorginho that's pretty decent. The MW1 Remastered was first tied to Infinite Warfare and a year later released as stand alone but for about 40 euro for a long time.
I will still wait until it's cheaper though. I think the campaign will last me about 8 hours so for 25 euro that's way past my 1 euro per hour gameplay rule
My favourite campaign of all COD's. However it will probably be 60 euro's for at least a year so I'll wait until it's 15-20 euro at most. I played through MW1, 2 and 3 campaign on the PS3 about half a year ago so I'm in no hurry.
I'm more fussed about keeping the features we allready have, rather than them slowly patching things back in over the course of several years. As that seems to have been the trend every generation.
@ShogunRok I was on the fence of buying it a couple times but when I watched a gameplay vid it looked incredibly generic ubisoft open world.. I gues I'll try the free trial and see for myself
The review on pushsquare where they said the inventory mechanics werent as 'deep' convinced me to give it a try. I tried a few BR games before this but was allways done after 1 or 2 rounds, this is the first 1 I played all day.
Fortunately Doom Eternal is set to release in march to fill the void. Im not complaining at all by the way because sometimes a year passes with zero games I buy day one and this year there are a few I'm really interested in:
Doom Eternal
The Last of Us 2
Cyberpunk
Dying Light 2
Even in the very unlikely event that half of them turn out to be stinkers It's still a great year. This line up is basically why I found it worthwhile to invest in a Pro on black friday. Even this late in the PS4 lifecycle.
@Abwag I didn't really enjoy it but of course that is just one opinion. It's not a bad game per se, just a bit generic. There are also too many glitches, from a first party game you may expect better.
Great, another microphone in my house listening to everything I say.. I really dont understand why anyone would let something as creepy as alexa in their house either
@ApostateMage I had an absolute blast with it, especially for the 8 euro I paid for it . Maybe not as good as 2 and 3 but definitely still a lot of fun. Like you say the combat is great and I think your crew is pretty decent too, better than most characters in ME3 in my opinion.
The only thing that bothered me was the quality of most of the side quests and some planets looked like crap too. OKay and maybe the character creator was sh*t too. It does feel rushed at some points.
@mdogg91 Probably just sharper graphics as that is what people are allways craving. I really don't care about anything above 1080p. Just give me better framerates and cool gameplay additions like you say with hordes of 1000's of zombies.
Good to hear it has a release date. I bought the season pass thinking all content was released but apparently this wasn't.
Really enjoyed the base game but I can understand it isn't everyones cup of tea. I was a bit skeptical about the switch to open world but it definitely didn't feel like it was padded out like a ubisoft open worlder. Exploration was rewarded but not mandatory.
Everyone is laughing at Google Stadia but a friend of mine has it and he literally pressed a button on his phone and a new game was immediately available. Patched and all.
oh boy oh boy oh boy. can't wait. DOOM 2016 is still the most satisfying shooter on the PS4 in my opinion. Im going to listen to the soundtrack on my way home from work and hype myself even more.
I never buy content with the promise of something in the future and more people should adhere to that rule. It puts all consumers in a stronger position.
I did buy the Metro Exodus season pass which apparently wasnt released in full yet but I didnt realize that untill after the purchase. Now I cant sell the game untill all content is released and I have to keep it installed or Ill forget Im waiting on the extra content.
@Shigurui I dont specifically remember him being very weak. I think you can drop from a reasonable height if I remember correctly, like a 1st story floor or something.
I played some FC3 last night, the hunting animals and climbing towers feels absolutely archeic. Silently murdering a bandit camp with nothing but a bow and your knife never gets old though. Especially when you get some of the more advanced perks like chain kills and knife throwing. I think Ill have fun with it at least untill the 2nd island which in my first playthrough was allready pretty boring.
@Shigurui I played 5 allready and it's a lot of fun too. Cool story, some great antagonists, nice weapons, and just very easy to pick and play in any style you want to. There were a bit too many random encounters happening though, it would sometimes get annoying. Other than that, great game. Definitely up there with 3.
"Did kinda feel like they needn't have bothered making Odyssey an ass creed game though, I really didn't care about that side of the story." It's been that way since forever imo..
@Shigurui lol yeah I got FC3 Classic as well and had a hard time getting through it. I just redownloaded it last night and will give it another go soon because I have such fond memories of it. The start of the game is a bit slow so maybe that was what put me off.
As usual I'm at least 1 year behind. I think I've played only Days Gone on this last and I didnt think it was GOTY material so I'll refrain from voting.
Shame to hear Metro wasnt a hit. Im playing through it right now and Im very much enjoying it. Just like I did the redux version of the first 2 games.
Its incredibly tense but there are also moments of relaxation. The difficulty is spot on for me. You have to really approach situations carefully and conserve your ammo and not just go in guns blazing. Also the art direction is absolutely phenomenal. Allmost every single sight could be a wallpaper of its own. The voice acting is terrible though..
@get2sammyb I suppose it's a 'sympathetic' game, a new IP made by a relatively small studio, no micro transactions, the game wasn't trying to be anything it's not, even the main character was sympathetic.. so you kind of want the game to succeed Unfortunately I just didn't click with it.
@JJ2 well it's his list so of course he can put any game he wants on it. "Lonely Mountains" isn't an obvious choice either XD
Days Gone seems like a odd choice given it's a pretty generic open world game and it had more than a few technical problems as well. I couldn't even bring myself to finish it and that's pretty rare. To each his own I guess.
I feel like assassins creed odyssey has been on a permanent sale for allmost a year now. Still cant be arsed with it despite the good stories. I'm well and truly done with ubisoft open word titles

Added to my list of wanted games, might get this somewhere down the line as a nice change of tune from the regular action packed titles I play.

Re: The Crew 2 Is Free This Weekend on PS4
@BalsBigBrother me too. Also with a brand new T300 steering wheel. Together this is the best racing I've ever done in a game.
PC2 is an insanely good game too. I remember the first one being superbuggy and practically unplayable with a controller, this one is awesome though
Re: Reaction: DualSense Reveals Sony's Unrivalled Ambition for PS5
Selling point for me will be hardware compatibility since I just bought a steering wheel for a few hundred euros
