Re: Out Today: PSVR2 Brings Next-Gen VR to the Masses

@thedevilsjester depends what you’re looking for. The library of games of psvr2 is not compelling enough for me yet to pay 500 euro’s. Most games are also on the oculus quest 2 library of games for less money. And Sony so easily ditched the psvr that I’m going to play the waiting game. Last time I bought the psvr together with a friend to share but it never felt worth it to both of us. Played mainly beat saber and GT Sport but not much else worth mentioning.

Also, apparently you could buy the Valve Index if you really want high end graphics and features. Psvr2 is in between the two. I’ve never played a Valve Index though, also I don’t own a gaming pc so I wouldn’t know.

Perhaps below comparison from gamexplain can help you out.

@BrotherFilmriss this community is absolutely not tolerant towards Xbox . Try having a peak at the comment section when there’s anything about the activision-blizzard acquisition. People throwing blades of chaos and claws of Hades towards you whenever you say something bad about Sony.

Apparently that’s not allowed here.

Anyway, back on topic, I’ll definitely give this game a go since I love the Bioshock series and I hope this will give me a piece of that same vibe again. On gamepass. (No need to spend 60 euro’s on that game on my playstation, which is nice. If I love it I will buy it afterwards for the collection!).

1000+ euro’s isn’t exactly something for the masses. Quest 2 is actually 500 euro’s cheaper.

Edit: No you do not need a pc for the Oculus Quest 2…. And quest 3 is coming at the end of this year with same specs as Sony’s psvr2 and for 400-500 euro. (No need for a ps5 or pc).

@gamer_since_83 you would think everyone commenting on this website is at least 10 years old.

But the story of GTA IV is that Microsoft actually had to pay R* to stop GTA IV from being exclusive to Sony’s platform, like all previous installments. All this timed exclusivity stuff is just bs.

@gamer_since_83 ehm, no? Gta 3 was released on playstation 2 first, 2 years prior to being released on xbox. Same with San Andreas and Vice City. Xbox actually turned down the exclusivity deal R* proposed.

Call of Duty had a few timed exclusive maps on 360 and that was it.

Are you ‘old enough’ to remember this though? What’s up with the fanboyism-responses on this website…. Seriously.

Just last year alone Sony had 14 timed 3d party exclusives. Shows their studios can’t pull their weight on their own either, a criticism Xbox usually gets (but people don’t see Sony has very little exclusives of their own too). Sony buys their way to pull in players too. Only Nintendo and their secondary studios probably produce enough exclusives to keep a platform running on their own.

@naruball you’re only replying on the last part of my comment.

But yeah, does it matter? Blizzard was bought too when WoW was the biggest MMO in the world. Riot Games with League of Legends, the biggest esports game and one of the most profitable ip ever being bought by Tencent, all of those weren’t opposed. Apparently it didn’t and doesn’t matter how big an ip is.

And now only Sony is opposed to the deal out of all big players. I truly wonder why since they’re the market leader…

@Deoxyr1bose they said that two years ago, yes. It’s the standard corporate stuff that most people fall for.

However, all games are now being played on PS4, even the games that formerly were played on pc. And as we know, Sony doesn’t like cross-play, so that’s not a option anymore too. https://bleedingcool.com/games/evo-2023-announces-complete-eight-game-lineup/

And they’re creating their monopoly. Not there yet, but they will. I expect them to work out a deal to incorporate Capcom Cup within EVO in the next year or two, when live events will become the norm again.

@naruball the marketing rights for Call of Duty is the single thing Sony doesn’t want to lose via Microsoft buying Activision Blizzard. And for good reason.

It’s also the reason Sony doesn’t agree with the 10 years parity of all versions of Call of Duty deal.

Are you knowledgeable of what’s being discussed in court at all?

Re: Xbox Series X|S Is Getting Trounced by PS5, Microsoft Weirdly Reveals

@RBMango no. Sony earned their place by releasing the Playstation which had disc functionality, and then playstation 2 which had dvd functionality. That’s the reason 3d parties went to them and away from Sega and Nintendo because they wanted to release games with cinematics which take up loads of space.

And next to that Sony still buys marketing rights and exclusives for these franchises. To keep these 3d parties on their platform.

Their ingame releases are almost all from companies / studios Sony bought over the years. Their CEO is from a company Sony bought. Tell me why Actiblizz should not be allowed to be bought.

Oh, here is Push Square again with the ‘nobody is stopping Microsoft from …’

Except it was Sony who did all the scummy licensing, marketing and limited time exclusive deals last generation. And they continue to do so (Street Fighter VI, Resident Evil, Final Fantasy, Tekken 8, Silent Hill games). All of these franchises will also release on Xbox, except maybe FF, but Sony is not allowing Xbox to market these games by buying the marketing rights for a couple million. Now tell me who has the more scummy business practices.

And Sony started with the buy-outs. Not Microsoft.

Also: Nintendolife and Pure Xbox seem a lot more respectful in their writing. There’s just a lot of Microsoft and Nintendo bashing in the articles here. And a lot of ‘we’re winning the console war guys!’ Unnecessary.

@uptownsoul you can say the same thing 100 times over.

You don’t know whether Jim is right or not because of one metric. And whether he’s right or wrong in all cases.

So your comment remains premature.

And a metric I could use against you would be that Microsoft is already making profit out of Game Pass while still investing a ton in it. We do not know how much but for all we know it could be more than Sony is making in 10 years. We just don’t know.

Ah well. I will keep on enjoying Game Pass next to a few playstation exclusives. I know I will never pay full price for any game as long as Game Pass exists, I can wait for a price drop or for the moment Sony puts their games into their subscription service because I already have so much to play if I want. You know Horizon Forbidden West is in PS Plus Extra from next week onwards, right? Did you pay full price for that one less than a year ago?

So with Xbox you get exclusives day and date. With Sony you have to either pay full price or wait a year. I know which service is best for the consumer.

@uptownsoul you read whatever you want to believe mate.

You draw way too easy conclusions with what Microsoft said in court because they want to seem small. ‘Less sales’ does not mean less money nor less attraction, exposure or double dipping of the franchise.

So we don’t know that Jimbo was right at all. You started with that speculation in your first post. And I corrected you with it.

1 is a number but not every number is 1. Logic.

Re: Microsoft Can't Deny Xbox Game Pass Cannibalises Software Sales

@uptownsoul you said:

‘Turns out Jimbo may have been right after all not to cannibalize his own software sales’ and you said ‘But all I've ever claimed is that there is a negative sales impact from Game Pass.’

And I said we do not have enough data yet … to conclude game pass isn’t working (ergo, that Jimbo is right). For all we know the check developers get from Xbox for putting a game on Game pass might exceed the otherwise made profit. And we do not know how much xbox makes from the subscribers of game pass.

So to conclude: We can’t know whether Jimbo is right or not. We lack the data.

Re: PS5 Sales Increased 202% in Europe Year-over-Year, Xbox and Nintendo Switch Both Down

@Green-Bandit having marketing rights is such a weird thing tbh. Sony has had the marketing rights for all capcom, square enix, konami, EA and Activision games, and now Hogwart’s Legacy too.

Feels so weird that Sony is allowed to say about those games ‘yeah, that game is ours, it’s coming out on our platform’ while Xbox has to remain quiet. While all games release on Xbox too, except for FFXVI and Silent Hill 2 remake.

I think that’s the most shady business practice stemming from the PS4 era.

@KaijuKaiser You’re missing Forza Motorsport and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 in your list of big exclusives that are confirmed for this year.

Also, I think a lot of people are forgetting that Game Pass can also be fully played on PC while for playing playstation games you need the box. Xbox and Game Pass are doing fine. They’re making money too.

Also… all of this is not unexpected. Sony just released a big exclusive: God of War while Xbox had none. And Xbox just released a big exclusive the year prior to that: Halo Infinite, where Sony had none.

Re: Street Fighter 5 Owners Will Unlock SF2 Turbo Free in Street Fighter 6

@Thumper it’s just changing hands. Sony could have gotten a 10 year deal for CoD too. I doubt they have a 10 year deal for CoD now.

In my opinion, Sony is afraid for nothing. They’re the current market leader with a lot of studios themselves, even with a lot of fps competing franchises. Or they could revive Ghost Recon or any of the other Tom Clancy franchises within those 10 years.

Most of Sony’s deals result in exclusivity (or the feeling of exclusivity) for entire franchises too. Such as street fighter, final fantasy, tales series, … They even bought EVO which makes them the console to go to if you want to be in the competitive fighting scene.

All in all: Their outcry just feels very silly after their own purchases and exclusivity deals in the last years.
