Re: Round Up: What Was Announced During Sony's Latest State of Play Livestream?

@RubyCarbuncle well. There’s flight simulator now. Scorn next month. Forza 5 in three months. Halo infinite somewhere in the upcoming months.

And the promise of one very big exclusive every quarter after 2021.

Dunno, but that’s almost as many as playstation 5 exclusives in a year. With ratchet and Clank being my only ps5 exclusive buy so far.

Re: Soapbox: The Conversation About Games Moves Too Quickly

It really depends on the title.

The writer mentions two remakes of older games. It makes sense the talk about those releases fade away relatively quickly. Doom Eternal is a sequel to Doom, a game that had a LOT of buzz for a long time because it had something new. But Eternal isn’t as innovative. We’ve seen the gore before in 2016.

The really innovative games stand the test of time. People still talk about God of War, the Last of us, Breath of the Wild, the Witcher, Skyrim. Makes sense that the other games fade away a bit, just like movies tend to do.

Re: Future Bethesda Games Could Still Come to PlayStation Despite Xbox Ownership

@Iroha you make comments like they’re the truth and not an opinion. That everything Bethesda makes is a disaster is maybe an opinion, but of course an untrue statement.

Mario 64 has bugs. Final Fantasy VII has bugs. Zelda Ocarina of Time And Breath of the Wild have bugs. Are they a disaster too?

Get real. Games of Bethesda are among the most popular on the planet. For a reason. And not because you think they’re only a meme, a disaster.

@Stragen8 @Shepherd_Tallon you can buy the games you like with a discount though if you’re subscribed to gamepass. So you will still have it, just as with gog.com, steam and the likes. It’s an option néxt to buying games. Not instead of buying games.

Just an added bonus i’d say when comparing it with Sony’s business model.

So spiderman, which can be played on ps4. I’m not a souls person.

I’ll be able to hold on to current gen a bit longer. That’s fine! No need for me to battle with the scalpers.

@Col_McCafferty ‘your bias is showing’.

Of course it is. I’m presenting my opinion. Which is per definition biased.

And yes, Odyssey is a milestone for Mario. Gameplay wise. And no, it hasn’t got anything to do with story, most of Nintendo’s games don’t have story, they focus almost solely on gameplay.

And if you think Flight Simulator isn’t a milestone, the general public and critics thinks differently. I also could have mentioned Half-Life Alyx if you think Flight Simulator would show me being biased or something. Alyx is just as much a groundbreaking game released this year.

To each their own.

And whatever. I don’t have to convince you or something. Hope you’ll enjoy your PS5 .

@Col_McCafferty Don’t know why but I’ve got the feeling you’re upset because I’ve said that a lot of Sony’s games are big block buster 3d party action games with different skins and different stories. They’re mainly relying on story and cgi—one-button-effects. They feel as if they follow exactly the same architecture / game designs, to me. Like 20 platformers, all different skins but you move from left to right. Also, Death Stranding isn’t a sony game.

Dunno, got bored by them after PS4. I’m back to RPG’s now, with which i got bored with 10-15 years ago. Guess it comes and goes in phases. That’s ok, right?

If you love PS4 games, PS5 is the exact same thing but with higher graphical settings if you have the setup for it. Nothing ‘new’ nothing ‘exciting’.

Haven’t played it yet, but I think Flight Simulator takes simulation games to an extreme different level. It’s not that you’re in a plane. It’s just that it feels completely real. The physics engine looks incredible. And really, having the actual real life world cramped up in a game and unfolding in front of you, that’s insanely spectacular. Technologically mind blowing if you ask me.

But as I said, haven’t played it yet.

Re: Talking Point: Did the PS5 Showcase Event Deliver?

@Col_McCafferty yes, I’ve made up my mind. I won’t be buying PS5 soon, since Horizon comes to PS4 too, my only anticipated exclusive.

Next to that I’ll continue enjoying my switch, and I’ll get a Series S or X for all 3d party stuff and Game Pass when Flight Simulator gets released on the system. And I’ll enjoy the Medium, I’m sure.

Are you calling Netflix an “ An all you can eat buffet which actually turns out to include rotten items and only one type of cheese.“? it’s the same concept, really. A ton of stuff which when taken together is suited for everyone for a low price, with high quality stuff mixed into it.

But to each their own. Happy gaming!

Re: Talking Point: Did the PS5 Showcase Event Deliver?

@Sim1 not many, you’re right. However, there are still some games that are still groundbreaking.

Mario Odyssey, Breath of the Wild and Flight Simulator are those groundbreaking games of recent years that I’m thinking about. New experiences. New technology.

Maybe God of War and Last of Us collection (for storytelling) could be on that list. But then again, Sony is turning it more and more into blockbuster movies.

That’s how I feel about them though.

Re: Talking Point: Did the PS5 Showcase Event Deliver?

@doctommaso as I said. They’re more and more like movies. You play them for the story. Not the gameplay. One button press and cgi starts rolling.

In my opinion of course.

Maybe I’ve seen it all. Maybe I should start.... reading books or something.

Re: Talking Point: Did the PS5 Showcase Event Deliver?

@playstation_king as I said, I have playstation 2, 3 and 4 lined up here. Second game I ever bought myself? Tekken on the PS 1 for my brother in law’s console, after Mario 64.

So are you really calling me an Xbox fanboy? Try to get out of your bubble once in a while.

Re: Talking Point: Did the PS5 Showcase Event Deliver?

@WallyWest am I though? I have playstation 2, 3 and 4 all lined up here.

I am very disappointed in the 3d person, only cgi games Playstation currently makes. Horizon, God of War, Ghost of Tsushima, even Death Stranding all felt very the same to me in a way. All 3d person over the shoulder action stuff with a story. And they do that again.

Also, Sony has a thing for buying exclusivity rights currently. I don’t like that practice one bit. And they are the only ones on the market that do that.

Re: Talking Point: Did the PS5 Showcase Event Deliver?

@Col_McCafferty you can have your opinion, but it’s same story every console generation for Sony. No innovation except stolen ideas, same games, safe bet.

In my opinion: Microsoft with Gamepass and functional Xcloud on phones, computers and their own box, that’s impressive. THAT is next gen. Same with Switch hardware.

To each their own, but Sony only has one pony to bet on.... and for me it’s getting boring. First PS launch I won’t join in.

Re: Talking Point: Did the PS5 Showcase Event Deliver?

Truly nothing groundbreaking in my opinion during the PS5 announcement. Final fantasy 16, but also coming to pc. Bunch of games we already had seen. Are any of them truly groundbreaking? Almost all CGI stuff. One button press and the character does all kind of things for half a minute. Just like playing a movie. No dates for any of the games. We have no idea about the launch lineup.

Boring to be honest.
