I would love for them to release all their exclusives on PC. Then I wouldn't need to buy a Playstation anymore and just focus on a gaming PC. One machine to play everything would be great!
@GREGORIAN The things you are stating are right out of the developers mouth. They have had years to condition gamers on what their plan is and what their thoughts were. So what you are writing is nothing new to me. It doesn't mean that I have to completely agree with their direction. I do have to live with it though.. What a lot of fans, me included, requested was the same game remade with upgraded audio and visuals. I don't think many people said "I want an FFVII remake with a Kingdom Hearts like battle system. I want you to add ghosts into the story. I want there to be extra dimensions." They totally could have remade the game with the same 'zoomed out' perspective as the original, added some va, added some enhancements like I mentioned and it would have killed in sales, and they probably could have developed it much quicker. Instead they zoomed in and focused on everything. They took a look at the donut and shoved the whole damn thing in their mouth. Hopefully it's not more than they can chew. It is a very risky decision, and I give them props for that.
Look, the first remake game was awesome. The end of it has me worried for the next one though. We'll see what happens, and I can't wait. In the back of my mind I will always be thinking "I just want the old game redone...why couldn't they have done both if they wanted to go this route?" (Hey, its not my money haha)
@Bliquid I don't know if I totally agree. No one ever said it had to be this hyper realistic graphical powerhouse with a super zoomed in scope. They've remade a number of large games from the SNES era, but with updated graphics but still maintained the same scope and presentation. They made the decision to present this in a very realistic, intimate way. It didn't have to be. They could have done what they did with Shadow of the Colossus and made the same game, same scope, same presentation with updated features and graphics. Add in some new materia, summons, combinations, weapons, new character or something and it would sell like crazy. The development would probably have been just a few years too instead of this money sucking episodic monster they have bit off.
I'm not saying I completely dislike what they're doing. It was my game of the year last year. It's just not exactly what I wanted. I wanted FFVII, not FFVII-2 with ghosts and alternate dimensions.
@GamingFan4Lyf Yeah I get the whole "I have the original" argument. But again, die hard fans of the original wanted for so long the game to be redone because the graphics haven't held up well at all. Not one person asking for this game was saying, hey remake this game but totally change everything that made me love it so much. That just wouldn't make sense. A perfect example is what Bluepoint did with Demons Souls and then also Shadow of Colossus. That's what most of us had in mind.
I'm not completely against the new format and battle system. I have huge concerns about how they handle the transition to open world, and if we even get an open world at the end of it.
I completely understand yours and others side of it though. I just wanted a Demons Souls style remake of the original. I know we are not going to get that but hopefully they stay true to the story and the reasons it made me so emotional.
@GamingFan4Lyf They had to remake the assets from the ground up, so it couldn't have been a remaster. You can't polish a turd. I don't think the die hard fans that were clamoring for an updated FFVII were thinking, oh yeah completely blow the story up, that would be great. I feel like the team has conditioned everyone to expect it now, so a lot have bought in. All I'm saying is that I was a bit disappointed in the ending and if the craziness continues and you can save Aerith or whatever else, I will probably be massively disappointed. Not saying I can't play it or won't enjoy it, but it will not be what myself and many others asked for for years and years.
@nessisonett Agree with you. Part one was amazing. Reliving my favorite game of all time in a reimagined way was such a great experience. That end though is not the same game. I just hope the next game gets back on the rails. I don't want a new game, I want the remake of the best game ever.
I don't know why people think he is an amazing actor. He was solid in GoT, but absolutely horrible in WW84. I'll give him a chance though, maybe it was the poor direction in that movie.
Some of you people are on crack. The remaster looks substantially better. I did notice that they have used fog in some scenes and improved the focus in others. Maybe people are seeing the fog and the blurred bokeh like focusing and thinking the older looks better?
Knowing that I will only play this once and I don't like missing out on awesome secrets, should I use a strategy guide? Or are the secrets more just collectibles, which I don't really care about?
@SZRT_CIC_Ice Agree with you on the body kits. GT2 sort of had this with the racing modification option. I loved when you did all you could maxing out the performance, then got to add the mod and see it turn into a race car. I was pretty down when GT3 nixed it and didn't have any other body mod options.
@LordSteev Maybe, but if they fixed the PS5 crashes, surely they would want to call that out? I don't know..I don't really care about the download size. You were right before that it keeps overwriting the files they are fixing. People will complain about anything though. You're damned if you do, and damned if you don't.
I'm ready to go back (about 59 hours in) if they got the PS5 crashes fixed. Sadly, it doesn't appear that they did because it specifically says crash fixes on PS4. If anyone can verify and RE me I would appreciate it.
Just have to train myself to not buy games at release any more. If I lag 3 months behind all releases, I'll get games for around the $50 that I prefer to spend. Will still build a backlog, it will just take a little time up front. There will be a few that I will probably not be able to wait on though (GT7 and Horizon)
"Our game is in wonderful shape. No game has EVER been released in a more wonderful, beautiful state than our game. Millions of people agree, that our game is the greatest game that the world has ever known. In fact, our game had a 10 rating across the board STOLEN from us!!!"
The dude above me is right. I can afford 70 for a game. But I expect Horizon quality for that price (and would still wait until a sale). This is not Horizon quality. We'll see when the reviews come, but this game should be priced at $40 to make a killing. All the scenes look similar, though it does look fun.
@TheFrenchiestFry Yeah dude totally dreaming...but the switch schtick is all about using it mobile or on a TV. I want another high end handheld like the Psp and vita was except drop all the gimmicks. I own a switch and think it's pretty cool but the performance is pretty poor.
Japan (and the world) needs a new OLED Vita. Fix the issues with the first one, like poor wifi, expensive storage, and lack of L2, L3, R2, R3 buttons. Position it as a mobile PS5 extension, using the faster new remote play functionality. Larger screen, better processor etc.
Heck, while I'm dreaming, graphically and sonically downgrade games to run on the new hardware, and allow you to buy a package of both the mobile and PS5 version that use the same saves. Sell them together as a package to justify that 70 dollar price tag, but also sell the mobile version separately for like $50 for the people that don't have a PS5 or prefer mobile (Japan).
Make it all digital, save money on game packaging, shipping, retail partner cuts, memory etc. Allow the thing to use MicroSD. Don't do all the dumb things, like back touch panel, camera accessories and all of that, no one cares, the just want a powerful portable gaming machine. Focus on those things. Awesome controller, screen, wifi.
This is a little weird to me PS. I was actually looking forward to seeing the original review text and then the overview of the PS5 enhancements. But I think this is just the PS5 overview. It even says "The original text follows", but it doesn't.

Uncharted 4 is next best, then Ghost of Tsushima.
Here's to the best Sony first party generation ever! Second to PSX for best overall console generation of all time!
