You’re welcome. And yeah, eurojank is pretty much its own sub-genre. You have Western RPGs, JRPGs, and Eurojank RPGs (for example). They all have their own sorta flavour.
@Gremio108 I think you might be thinking of GreedFall. I haven’t played it yet (it’s on my backlog list), but from what I’ve heard about it, it seems that it fits your description. It was made by the developer Spiders, who are known for making eurojank games. Their latest release was Steelrising, another game with an interesting premise and a generic, forgettable name.
This was my kinda quiz. I’m always a bit fuzzy on the dates of when something releases. But more recent news? That’s my specialty.
The only ones I got wrong were the GT7 intro length - where I made a bad guess - and the Fall Guy story, which was a news item I either missed, or the place name never stuck with me, with it being a UK location and me on the other side of the pond.
There were only a couple of questions I had to make educated guesses on. Much easier than the usual quizzes.
@BeerIsAwesome In my opinion, Ratalaika-published games have the best track record with regards to the chances of being an actually good game. They’re always cheaply-made games, and most look like they were made in the same pixel-platformer game making toolkit, but you can tell that some effort was put into making them.
Going down the tier-list of easy-plat publishers, eastasiasoft would be next. Their games range from trashy-but-fun to just plain trash, but the developers put at least some time in to make them.
Sometimes You is one that I avoid personally, but might have a chance of being actual games that someone could play.
Every other publisher, like Smobile, ThiGames, Breakthrough Gaming, Game Achievements, and about a hundred other ones you’ve never heard of: all garbage that should never be allowed on the PlayStation Store, let alone have someone actuality play them. Getting easy plats can be fun, if that’s something you’re in to, but giving money to developers that just copy-paste their last game - changing only the name of the game or replacing the image of a different animal - that’s just wrong.
The current DualSense is basically a wired controller fer me. The thing doesn’t have a full day’s worth of charge (even when I wasn’t actively playing games with it), and I got sick of having to plug it in part ways through the day, so I bought a long USB cable and just leave it plugged in.
$270 CAD for a controller with LESS battery life? Absolutely ridiculous.
I mean, if I’m being honest, I wouldn’t have bought it anyways, because the only feature I’d use on it is the back paddles, and that already wasn’t worth an extra $180. But the one other thing I’d want the controller for actually being worse? Get real.
My only hope of getting one of these now is the Edge not selling well and Sony having to lower the price significantly to move some stock. This news might bring that situation closer to reality.
@Would_you_kindly I imagine one explanation would be that they paid for the image from Gettys, but accidentally put the free version in instead. Either that or it was only a temporary placement that they forgot to replace before finalizing the texture.
More likely though, they just Googled for an image to place in that scene and never noticed the watermark (The watermark is very hard to see until you zoom in on those images on Twitter).
@Deoxyr1bose And sell DLC for it as well. Some publishers can’t even release decades-old games and not give us everything without spending more than the standard-version price. (See also the Sonic: Origins collection and The Rumble Fish 2 for more recent examples of this.)
I know that this particular DLC is new content, but getting this content should be an incentive to buy these new versions over emulation, not another way to inflate the price of this collection for hardcore fans.
@KundaliniRising333 Well, it seems like my wait continues.
I never really played the original release. I was dumb and played Dragon Age: Inquisition first - I couldn’t play open-world RPGs for many years after that.
When CDPR announced the PS5 version, I figured I’d wait for that before playing it. Now I’ll have to wait even longer for this version to get some patches before I start it. Gotta love modem-day video game releases!
This game sure looks like Bioshock. Not that that’s a bad thing, but was hoping for something a bit more original.
Not that it’s necessary for it to be a good game, but I am interested in how the dynamic narrative feature will pan out. Dying Light 2 promised a similar feature, but that ended up not mattering so much.
Ken Levine and his studio have been working on this game for so long, they might just be able to pull it off. It’s curious that they didn’t highlight the feature in the trailer. Maybe giving themselves an out - rather than pull a Molyneux or a No Man’s Sky and over-promise - just in case it’s not as revolutionary a narrative technique as they want it to be.
That’s not exactly a compliment, given how bad his events have been in recent years. But it managed to exceed my severely low expectations. Didn’t feel like a complete waste of my time, like the last couple of TGAs felt.
Just enough decent announcements and a good pacing (at least once we got past the Christopher Judge speech. The man deserved to be able to say everything he wanted to say - he earned it - but I think it was unfair to other award recipients to take as much time as he did).
@__jamiie I’m also old. In my advanced years, I’ve learned to be patient with games these days. I agree that it sucks to almost need to wait for patches before playing a new game. But if you wait a while, the game will not only run and look better, but it’ll be cheaper too. I haven’t bought a new release in years. As long as you can avoid spoilers for narrative games, you won’t miss out on anything.
I’ve come close to buying the Mass Effect collection multiple times. Guess it pays to wait sometimes. I’ve only played Mass Effect 2, and a bit of 3, so it’s gonna be nice to play the whole trilogy in one go.
A Burnout 3 remaster or remake - or a new game in that style - is exactly what I want. If they make some adjustments to Burnout Paradise with a sequel to that game, it might not be bad either. But most of my nostalgia revolves around Takedown.
It’s about time. This is long overdue. I’ve got nothing against Platinum Trophy hunters. I’ve gone through stages playing games for easy plats myself. But they were games like My Name is Mayo (which is dumb gameplay-wise, but cleverly written) or Ratalaika published games, which can be a bit trashy, but feel as if some effort went into making them.
The amount of shovelware that’s been cluttering up the store lately has gotten steadily worse over the past few years, and needs a bit more curation on Sony’s end.
@Jey887 If the release dates themselves were leaked, I might see an argument that this would spoil a Game Awards surprise. Just knowing that they are going to announce a release date is stretching the definition of a spoiler. The publishers - or Keighley himself - would probably announce that the games would be at the Game Awards ahead of the show.
10 this time. At least with this quiz the ones I got wrong were complete guesses, and I knew the ones I got right. I usually get a couple of lucky guesses and get wrong a couple that I would’ve got right if I thought about it for a few more seconds.
I’ve often wondered what a movies based on old beat ‘em up games would be like. Mix dynamic action with a cheesy 80s aesthetic, and I think it’ll make for a fun watch.
I love this series. Played through all of them, even Blood Omen 2, which was rough. I was very disappointed when they never made a sequel to Defiance. The ending of that game set the series up to go in a new direction; would’ve been nice to see how the story went from there.
That being said, I also wouldn’t mind a reboot either. Maybe leave out all the time travel. They certainly went to some interesting places with those story elements - but I think a story about vampires and soul wraiths is interesting enough on its own without time paradoxes and destined fates. Kinda like how I’ve always felt about Star Trek - you already have space exploration and alien politics, you don’t need to throw time travel into the mix as well.

Re: This Use of PSVR2's Eye Tracking Is Truly Terrifying
This would make a perfect Weeping Angels Doctor Who game!
A game I would never play, because I’m a baby when it comes to first-person horror games, let alone one in VR 😢.

Happy New Year, and keep up the great work - it’s much appreciated.
