I was about to say — before I read the article — that they were releasing another character that was mostly a reskin of another character already in the game, ie Kate Bishop Hawkeye, Jane Foster Thor, Winter Soldier, She-Hulk.
But then I read it and found out that it is literally a reskin of an existing character, and I had a little chuckle.
What a botched release this game was. It showed some signs of being a good game, if they hadda made it a story-based single-player/co-op game, instead of trying to go after all that live-service battle pass money.
Remember when we thought the power of the PlayStation 5 would mean we’d get 4K 60fps in every game? How naive we were.
A lot of games make us choose whether we want higher resolution or higher framerates. And in the cases of Gotham Knights and Plague Tale: Requiem, having no choice to have a framerate higher than 30fps.
I’d give games like Tchia a bit of pass though. It’s more understandable for a smaller development studio to not have the budget or resources to fully optimize their game. But I still think that games shouldn’t release in a buggy state, and only release when the game is actually finished.
Seems like what has become the typical Bioware production cycle these days.
After reading about what went on behind the scenes in the development of Anthem — and the messy release of Mass Effect: Andromeda — the management team have grossly underestimated how much time it would take to develop a game of this scope. Now everything’s on fire, and they have to haul people off another project to try and get this game out the door on their targeted release date. And, most likely, everyone on the development team are stuck in crunch mode, up to the launch of the game and beyond (to work on patches to fix the game that’ll release in a buggy state).
Just like Anthem, it’s been reported that Dreadwolf changed focus part-way into development — in this case redesigning the game to remove the live-service elements that the game would’ve been focused on.
Of course, these are all assumptions on my part, but given the history that we do know about, I don’t think I’m far off from the truth.
I would normally say that this game should be on PlayStation Plus Essential day one, given that it’s multiplayer only and might need a large playerbase to be successful. But thinking about games like Operation Tango and First Class Trouble — which I didn’t see anyone talking about past the first week of release — I’m not sure that would be a winning strategy. But releasing a game like this, when the target audience is still just playing Among Us, I don’t think it’ll have any chance no matter what they did.
It’s kinda sad, because after reading this review, it seems like the devs were trying to do something different with the formula. But like all the battle royales that released after Fortnite became a thing, it would have to not only be an exceptionally good game, but also have the incredible luck of being noticed by enough people to pierce through the zeitgeist of the most popular games in the particular genre they’re in.
@Mysterio English is my only language, and I still have this issue with Push Square headlines sometimes. I didn’t have much of a problem with this article’s title, but I see where you’re coming from. They should really look into a different way to format headlines. Either stop capitalizing every word, or fully capitalize or italicize game titles. That would make them much more legible.
E3 was already dead. The ESA has just been dragging around the corpse trying to make look like it was still alive, Weekend at Bernie’s style.
There is absolutely no reason for any publisher or hardware maker to align themselves with E3 this day in age, when you can reach your audience by shooting some footage and pressing a button to upload it to YouTube. There is no reason for E3 to exist — at least not the way it was.
I believe blaming the hardware for this issue is misplaced. It’s giving Capcom (and any other publishers that do this kind of thing) an out that they don’t deserve.
Games released on any console should be designed to run well on that console. If a game doesn’t have good performance on a console, that game should not be released until it does.
And no blame should be placed on the developers or QA either. They were the ones trying to make the best game they could. The publisher is the one that decided on the release date, knew about the bugs that were reported by the devs and QA and still chose to release it, and — in this case — decided to get the devs to make a PS4 version of the game, to take advantage of the install base. All of these decisions were made based on marketing, budget, and profits, not the current state of the game.
As far as the opinion that games should not be made for the PS4 anymore because it’s holding back the PS5 versions, I would argue the opposite. I think developers should be designing games for the PS4, then porting it to PS5.
Why do I feel this way? Because I prefer performance over graphical quality. Designing the game around the limitations of the PS4 should make the performance on PS5 an easier target to hit, while still maintaining a higher resolution.
One example of this is God of War (2018) vs. God of War: Ragnarok. After their developers put out a PS5 patch for God of War, the game ran at 4K 60fps. It looked gorgeous, and ran smoothly without a hitch. Whereas God of War: Ragnarok makes you choose between 4K or 60fps. With the PS4 version, I get the best of both worlds. With PS5 I have to sacrifice one or the other.
Another example would be something like Gotham Knights. They dropped the PS4 version during development, because they were having trouble optimizing the game for the less powerful console. Turns out, they couldn’t even optimize the PS5 version, targeting 30fps and not even managing to do that. If they were developing the game solely for the previous gen, it might have mitigated the issues the current gen version had. (And again, this was the fault of the publisher deciding to release the game before it was ready.)
The only real advantage of developing solely for the PS5 is loading times. And Sucker Punch proved with Ghost of Tsushima that even that can be lowered on PS4 if you have the technical talent to do so.
Developing games for all the platforms you’re releasing on — and releasing when the games are actually finished and fully optimized — are the real issues here.
I’m doing my usual: waiting a year or two and buying it with all the patches, for a much lower price. Resident Evil 4 is one of my favourite games of all time, so I’m looking forward to playing the remake eventually
In the meantime, I’m planning to do a full playthrough of all Resident Evil games, starting with 0, then the remakes of 1, 2, and 3, Code: Veronica, and Revelations 1 and 2. After I buy 4 remake I’ll play that and maybe replay 5, and attempt to play 6, 7, and 8.
4 and 5 are the only games in the series I’ve completed, so it should be fun to experience most of the games for the first time. I can’t guarantee that I’ll play 7, because I’m a wimp when it comes to first-person horror games. I wish Capcom would make a third-person mode like they did with the DLC for 8.
When was this announced? Never even heard about it till now.
Push Square kinda dropped the ball on this. I get almost all of my PlayStation news from this site, and are usually pretty good at letting people know about these kind of things.
Luckily, I still have a chance. Being a fan of both Marvel and turn-based strategy games, I’ve been wanting to play this game, but I was waiting for a significant price drop before buying it. Now I get the chance to see how I feel about it. Might save me some money in the future if I don’t enjoy the game.
@Jaz007 Unfortunately, I believe the developers think the timely accessories are a way to keep the game balanced.
People that use them — taking the easy way, as they see it — won’t be able to use the buffs that come with other accessories in the game. The buffs also make the game easier, by giving a character +4 Attack or add burn damage to your sword (these are just examples; I don’t believe they’ve gone into any detail about what other accessories actually do). If you want the buffs, you have to sacrifice the “easy mode” accessories to do that. The average player might use the timely accessories to help them out while they’re still learning the game mechanics, and switch to the regular accessories later.
This is a garbage way of handling things. People might need the help the timely accessories provide. This means that they may lose out on one entire part of the equipment system, just because of their disability.
I’m not going to say it’s discriminatory, because I don’t believe the developers are doing this intentionally. But it shows that they haven’t thought of the importance of making games more accessible, and I hope that they eventually learn this.
This is only a big deal because they brought it up. The whole reason they went with an action-based combat system was to make the game appeal to a wider audience. They may gain that audience, but they’ll lose out on another one.
@NinjaSixx I also would have preferred turn-based combat rather than real-time action. Especially for a Final Fantasy game. It might be the reason I haven’t played FF XV yet, and one of the reasons I didn’t like FF VII Remake as much as other people did. But the previews the games media did said that the action combat was pretty good, so we’ll have to see how it actually turns out.
And then there was “pet the dog.” They only mentioned that for the memes, just to gain some internet points. They even named the panel after it. Shameless pandering. 😊
@KundaliniRising333 You’re right. They do discuss the accessories as difficulty settings, not accessibility options. But they start the segment referring to them as accessibility options, saying that they make the game more accessible (47:35), so you might understand my confusion. It’s possible that the game has accessibility options beyond the timely accessories, but since they function the same as some accessibility settings you would find in a menu, it would be strange for them to double up.
But whether the developers consider them accessibility options or not, they can still function that way. Disabilities are more than just being blind or deaf. Someone may only have one hand, so auto-dodge and auto-attack can be very useful. Someone may have a repetitive strain injury and not be able to tap the buttons (even without that issue, I like changing the QTEs from tap to hold when the option is available). And someone (like myself) may be autistic/ADHD and may have issues keeping track of attacking, dodging, healing, and spell casting at the same time. Accessibility can help a lot, to a lot of different people, which is why their jokes surrounding the accessories seemed so inappropriate and tone-deaf to me.
Having five timely accessories, but only three item slots — the same slots that are used for every other accessory in the game — makes it even worse.
I was being a bit hyperbolic when I mentioned the digs at streamers, I’ll admit that.
I do agree with you about the QTE question. Like, they just finished saying that they hate QTEs, everyone hates QTEs. Then they proceed to talk extensively about the QTEs in the game, and how their QTEs are actually good. I found that more funny than the jokes they tried to make.
All of the game footage was great. The game looks like it’s gonna be good.
But the attitude of the presenters got really annoying the further they went.
It started well. Both Yoshida and Fox were lighthearted and funny. Maybe a bit “How do you do, fellow kids?” at times, but whatever.
The Q&A section was where it started. They phrased the questions in the most negative, whiny way possible. Made it feel like they were saying: here’s all these petty complaints we got about the game, and here’s why you were stupid to think that way. If they presented the questions as legitimate criticisms, then proceeded to alleviate the concerns, it would have been fine.
The worst part was the explanation of the accessibility options. The fact that they made them equipable items instead of menu options was bad enough. But the way they talked down to people that might want to — or need to — use them was disgusting. It was much like: you could use these items to make the game easier, but you won’t be a real gamer if you do. They even felt the need to shame streamers for having the gall to be so dishonest by using them, so they had to put icons on the screen to remind people that they’re not playing the game the way it’s “supposed” to be played.
It’s a big F U to everyone with physical or mental disabilities that might need to use the options to play or enjoy the game at all. But, hey, they all got a good laugh out of it.
I was not impressed by the first couple of trailers they put out. Looked pretty bland and uninteresting to me, and I didn’t know what other people were seeing that got them so hyped.
After reading the previews, and seeing footage like this, I am much more convinced that this game might be pretty good. My excitement is growing.
I do kinda wish the game had a character creator, or multiple main characters to choose from. I know Final Fantasy games have never really done this in the past, but I want to play as someone other than a generic gruff white dude named Clive. Hopefully the game is good enough that that won’t matter.
@Juanalf As a fan of both Lego and racing games, this seems like a must-buy for me.
Then I look at the base cost, plus multiple season passes, and I think I’ll stick to my usual method of buying games: wait a year or two and buy the game for $20 including all the content and fully patched.
@Th3solution Seems like you’re in the same boat as me, at least when it comes to the backlog.
I’ve always been interested in game creation, but just have so many other things to play or do, I just don’t have the time or patience to get good at the creation tools, if I use then at all.
Bought all of the LittleBigPlanet games; might’ve opened the editor up a couple of times. Bought Modnation Racers, Trackmania Turbo, and Hot Wheels Unleashed; never uploaded a track. Bought a few different game-making programs on PC; never touched ‘em. Bought a Switch specifically to play Super Mario Maker 2; made 3 levels in the first few months and have barely booted up the game since. Bought Dreams at one point; I don’t believe I’ve even booted it up.
Just so many other great games that I haven’t played, game-making doesn’t fit in to an adult life. If only this stuff existed back in my childhood, when I had the time — it might have lead to a career in game development.
Unreal Editor for Fortnite is to Dreams what the Switch is to the Vita.
In both situations, Sony made bad decisions before launch, didn’t support it properly after launch, and now have to watch someone else have success with similar products.
With the Vita, they launched without a compelling game lineup and had expensive proprietary memory cards. Then after launch they stopped making big first-party games for it. Then a few years later, Nintendo puts out the Switch with a new Zelda and Mario game within the first year, and becomes one of the best-selling consoles of all time.
With Dreams, they didn’t launch on PS+, they didn’t port it to PS5, and now a few years later they get to watch Fortnite leverage their massive userbase to support a robust community of user-made games.
In other words: Sony had the right ideas, screwed them up royally, and now get to watch other companies learn from Sony’s mistakes.
@get2sammyb This is good news. The main problems I had with the first season was that there wasn’t more of it, to fix the pacing issues (as I detailed in my comment on the review article).
Spitting the second season in two just makes sense, at least from what I know about the structure of the game (never played it, but couldn’t help being spoiled due to the discourse surrounding it).
@Uromastryx I think both episodes were great. If it hadda been a 12 episode (or more) series.
There needed to be at least one more episode before the Bill and Frank story. It seemed like we only just met the lead characters in the show before they spent a whole episode on a side story. Again, that side story was excellent, in my opinion - just a little jarring so early in the series.
There also should’ve been an episode before the three-month time-skip. The characters got time to process what happened with Henry and Sam - we didn’t. The months-long skip also made it feel rushed to get across the country and meet up with Tommy. It was Joel’s entire motivation for the cross-country trek, but the show just yadda yadda yadda’d over most of it.
And there also should’ve been another episode before the finale. Again, we needed time for the previous episode’s events to reverberate more. At the very least, show Joel still recovering from his wounds before he goes all Terminator on the Fireflies.
They should’ve also made the last episode longer. We needed a lot more story beats between Joel and Ellie’s capture and his decision to screw the world over by saving her. The decision lacked impact, because we never got to see Joel struggle with it - or at the very least talk it over with Marlene a bit more before he killed everyone.
And this comes from someone who never really played the game. These problems I have with pacing issues are not even from a perspective of comparing them with the source material.
I doubt it would be possible, but I think HBO should spend a bit more money and film the three extra episodes I proposed, so the season would work better on a rewatch. They can treat them like flashbacks in season two, or show them in between seasons. Unlikely, I know, but I think it would make for a better show overall.
The show wasn’t bad, I liked what was there quite a lot. There just needed to be more of it.
We’re talking about a big marketing campaign by a huge corporation that exploits and abuses people and makes billions of dollars. The same can be said for Activision/Blizzard. 😉
@Kevw2006 It would be kinda hilarious if Call of Duty goes the way of Tony Hawk and Guitar Hero and loses popularity in the next few years, making their contracts with Nintendo and Nvidia worthless. Then what would their $69 billion deal be worth?
(Answer: Still a lot, because King is worth more than COD alone, let alone Blizzard with their money-printing franchises 😊)
Because of the terrible workplace environment - due to mismanagement that led to all the abuse allegations, with project leads being the worst abusers - Ubisoft is bleeding talent, with no one to replace them because nobody wants to work there anymore. They’ve had to cancel more projects than what they have in development. They’re doubling down on Assassin’s Creed projects, hoping to make at least some profit, with that series’ popularity. Then they have these ghost projects like BG&E, Skull & Bones, and the Prince of Persia remake that they’re afraid to cancel because of how much money they’ve already sunk into them.
It’s time for Ubisoft to just call it quits. The only games they are putting out are ones that nobody wants, or ones that are just rehashes of ones they’ve already made. This will end with them getting bought out by Embracer, Tencent, or Amazon, for a price way below what they would’ve been worth just a few years ago.
They were already on their way to this end, the pandemic just started putting the nails into the coffin.
They took a property with distinct colourful characters with unique abilities, and turned it into a generic co-op hero shooter. The Avengers at least tried to emulate the differences between the characters.
It’s easy to tell that this project was greenlit a decade ago. Since then, we’ve had Anthem, The Avengers, Fallout 76, and Babylon’s Fall. All games from great developers - BioWare, Crystal Dynamics, Bethesda, and Platinum Games, respectively - that tried to ride the live service gravy train, when they were best known for crafting huge single-player experiences. All failing to pry players away from Fortnite, Destiny, and FIFA with sub-par games.
Add Rocksteady to that pile now. Arkham Asylum revolutionized the action/adventure genre with a surprisingly good game based on a licensed property, a highly influential combat system, and a high bar to clear for cinematic AAA games to follow.
And now, they’ve made a generic online co-op hero shooter. I wish game publishers would learn from other’s mistakes - heck, even their own mistakes. There’s a world where a game like this would break through and be successful, but that world was ten years ago.
Game makers should learn to step up their game, and make remasters like this worth buying, especially if they don’t actually improve anything. There are, y’know, other options to play these games nowadays.
On a completely unrelated note, I got a Steam Deck for Christmas. 😉
Wow, Ubisoft can’t catch a break these days. Almost every news story lately has been something going poorly fer them.
It’s almost like the years of mismanagement and alleged abuse are causing their game designs to stagnate and to see them lose talented developers. Go figure. 🤷♂️
Except for the fact that there are Marvel characters in the game, a turn-based strategy game with card mechanics was always going to be a tough sell. I don’t see how anyone would’ve thought otherwise, and thus set the budget of the game accordingly. If they didn’t, that’s their own fault.
Let’s see. There’s Fortnite. Warzone. Minecraft. Roblox. Apex. Genshin. Final Fantasy XIV. Maybe a few more like Rainbow Six Siege and WoW - the old timers. Some other ones, like Fall Guys, Rocket League, and PUBG that have died down lately, after a good start. The hardcore e-sport crowd with their League, DOTA, and Overwatch. Maybe more that I’m forgetting.
That might be 90% of the live service game audience right there. And there’s only a handful of people that may be looking to play something new.
I’m not saying there’s no room for another game to sneak in there. Most of those games started small as well. It can be done.
But to make a game that competes with all of those? You’ve gotta be extremely lucky and have a huge marketing budget. No one can predict the former, and Epic just proved - with Rumbleverse - that the latter isn’t enough.
Sony will have to have to have something magical cooked up to get just one of those 10 live service games to break through.
E3’s death was inevitable. It started losing its relevancy years ago, as game publishers started realizing that they didn’t need to share the stage with each other, and online marketing was becoming way more cost-effective than putting on a physical show.
Then COVID came along, and everybody figured out how almost everything could be done remotely. That was the final nail in the coffin.
If any part of E3 survives this year, it’ll be closer to a PAX than the E3s of old, with Reedpop organizing everything. It had its time, now it’s time to move on.
@SolaceCreed All of my teenage years were in the 90s, so my nostalgia for that decade is off the charts.
I’m 42, so I remember the times before household computers were a thing - hell, before the internet was even a thing. Now everybody goes around with a network-connected supercomputer in their pocket. Imagine how old I feel!
It seems to me like there’s a bit of a trend with THQ Nordic since they bought a bunch of these old IPs. They put out a remaster/remake that doesn’t make enough changes to modernize the games, then they make a new entry that also doesn’t update the mechanics and structure of the older games (e.g. SpongeBob, Darksiders, Destroy All Humans, Kingdoms of Amular, etc.).
It’s good that they’re giving the fans of the these franchises what they want, but I think they’d satisfy players more if they took the time to improve them (and not release them in such a buggy state).
@khayl I think there may be a mistake in the headline, or at least it doesn’t make sense to me. It should probably read “a Skill-based Deck” or just “a Skill Deck.”
That was such an emotional and heartbreaking episode. I gotta admit, there were actual tears. Most things I watch with scenes like that, yeah I well up a bit. That almost caused a full-on blubber.
I kinda wish we got a little more advancement of the main plot, but with acting that good, I’m not gonna complain.
Wow. What a good week fer me! Not only 3 games I don’t have, but 3 games I also want to play - or at least try. (Not counting Destiny 2, I already played enough of that.)
This is a rare treat! And I guess my fear that PS+ Essential would get worse when they added the higher tiers was unfounded. I think it might’ve even gotten better.
I already bought a lot of Pinball FX tables. No way I’m paying for all of them again.
The only thing that might change my mind is if they have an option for TATE mode. This probably only applies to me - I doubt a lot of people have installed a rotating wall mount for their TV, just to play pinball or vertical shmups. But most of the pinball games on Switch have this option - including Pinball FX - so I can’t imagine it would be too hard to add it to the PlayStation version, even if I’m the only person that might use it. 😊
I keep looking at games with a retro aesthetic, like this one, and buying them, thinking I’ll like them. Then I quickly remember that I was really bad at games in the pre-PlayStation eras, and I wasted my money on something I’ll never play.
Looks like a good game though, for people that can handle the difficulty.
@Jireland92 You’re not wrong, necessarily. Giving Pegg the benefit of the doubt, there’s a good chance - with how long this game has been in development - that he took the role before the controversy started.
But there’s also a good chance that he’ll inevitably be questioned about his stance on certain issues now, and may have not been allowed to leave the project due to signing a contract. Which means that yeah, he’s caught up in this stuff, whether he likes it or not. The actors from the movie franchise had to defend their positions on those topics, and they were involved long before the creator expressed her hateful views.
I won’t be buying this game, both for the fact that I’ve never gotten in to Harry Potter stuff, and for the reason that I cannot state here. I’m just sad that now Simon Pegg - as well as all the developers on this project - are going to be caught up in things that are beyond their control.
I hope that the game is good for the people that aren’t bothered by the other things surrounding this game, but I’m fully on the side of the people that cannot buy it in good conscience.
@Starkei I think it’s actually the other way around. The racist trolls feel like they’re justified in their opinions because the game ended up being bad. They were gonna crap on the game anyways, but now they feel vindicated now that it turned out to be bad.
The people that accuse people of being racist just because they don’t like something are more than likely the exact same bad-faith trolls just trying to rile people up. It’s hard to distinguish between them unfortunately, thanks to the anonymity of the internet.
But anyone using “woke” as a pejorative should give you a clue with regard to their sincerity. Those people should always be ignored. (There are examples of this right here in this comment section, at least before they get moderated.)
I have nothing against people that played the demo, enjoyed it, and are looking forward to playing the full game. Feel free to ignore the negative comments and have fun playing a game that you like.
In my opinion though, Forspoken is probably not going to be a good game. If the full game is anything like the demo, it’s not fer me. The movement abilities, the combat, and the magic mechanics all felt off to me. The dialogue between the lead character and the cuff was cringe. And the UI design was terrible, with lots of complicated menus and that fisheye curving that they use in some places.
SquareEnix is saving me a lot of money putting out their most recent demos. Valkyrie Elysium had the poor out-of-combat animations and inconsistent art design. Star Ocean had the boring dialogue and framerate issues in one of its maps. And now Forspoken.
I can certainly see why developers don’t put out many demos these days, but I’m really glad they did in these cases. I may have bought a game that I would’ve ended up disliking.
@Pikki It should be available on Crave, with the extra $9.99 HBO upgrade. I watched Game of Thrones that way, so I assume The Last of Us will stream there.
Which is unfortunate, since Crave is probably the worst streaming service in Canada, at least in terms of picture and audio quality. I watched Doctor Who recently, and it wasn’t too bad, but when I watched The Batman I could barely see anything thanks to the horrible pixelization on anything black - which was 90% of that movie.
@MrDoug91 100% agree. Wait until you have a release date you know you’re going hit before setting that release date. I personally don’t mind delays, especially if it ends up being a better, more polished game. But if you don’t set a release date before you’re ready, it can’t even be called a delay.
Am I the only one who voted for PowerWash Simulator? Maybe?
And I’m very confused about the people voting for Forspoken after playing the demo. I mean, it wasn’t terrible or anything, but how anyone could be looking forward to it after listening to the dialogue or navigating the UI for more than 5 minutes is beyond me.

Re: Tchia PS5 Patch Adds 60fps Support
Remember when we thought the power of the PlayStation 5 would mean we’d get 4K 60fps in every game? How naive we were.
A lot of games make us choose whether we want higher resolution or higher framerates. And in the cases of Gotham Knights and Plague Tale: Requiem, having no choice to have a framerate higher than 30fps.
I’d give games like Tchia a bit of pass though. It’s more understandable for a smaller development studio to not have the budget or resources to fully optimize their game. But I still think that games shouldn’t release in a buggy state, and only release when the game is actually finished.

Re: Put a Pin It! Ubisoft Pulls Out of E3 2023 As Well
E3 was already dead.
Re: Resident Evil 4 Remake on PS4 Is Why Cross-Gen Needs to End
Re: Poll: Are You Playing Resident Evil 4 Remake?
Re: Marvel's Midnight Suns Free Trial Extended on PS5 Following Disruption
When was this announced? Never even heard about it till now.
Push Square kinda dropped the ball on this. I get almost all of my PlayStation news from this site, and are usually pretty good at letting people know about these kind of things.
Luckily, I still have a chance. Being a fan of both Marvel and turn-based strategy games, I’ve been wanting to play this game, but I was waiting for a significant price drop before buying it. Now I get the chance to see how I feel about it. Might save me some money in the future if I don’t enjoy the game.
Re: Final Fantasy 16 Dev Team Fields Fans' Snarkiest Questions in PAX East Panel
Re: Final Fantasy 16 Dev Team Fields Fans' Snarkiest Questions in PAX East Panel
Re: Final Fantasy 16 Dev Team Fields Fans' Snarkiest Questions in PAX East Panel
Re: Final Fantasy 16 Dev Team Fields Fans' Snarkiest Questions in PAX East Panel
That panel was equal parts impressive and cringe.
Re: Final Fantasy 16's Jaw-Dropping PS5 World Will Make You Say Wow
I was not impressed by the first couple of trailers they put out. Looked pretty bland and uninteresting to me, and I didn’t know what other people were seeing that got them so hyped.
After reading the previews, and seeing footage like this, I am much more convinced that this game might be pretty good. My excitement is growing.
I do kinda wish the game had a character creator, or multiple main characters to choose from. I know Final Fantasy games have never really done this in the past, but I want to play as someone other than a generic gruff white dude named Clive. Hopefully the game is good enough that that won’t matter.
Re: Mini Review: Dredge (PS5) - Eerie Fishing Adventure Will Reel You In
This seems like a game I would enjoy. Will definitely wishlist it.
Re: PS5, PS4 Arcade Racer LEGO 2K Drive Sounds Superb, and It's Out Soon
@Juanalf As a fan of both Lego and racing games, this seems like a must-buy for me.
Then I look at the base cost, plus multiple season passes, and I think I’ll stick to my usual method of buying games: wait a year or two and buy the game for $20 including all the content and fully patched.
Re: Fortnite Has Been Utterly Transformed by Brain Bending New Tools
Re: Fortnite Has Been Utterly Transformed by Brain Bending New Tools
@SoulsBourne128 @Th3solution @ItsBritneyB_tch
Re: The Last of Us 2 Will Be Split Across Two or More Seasons for TV Adaptation
@get2sammyb This is good news. The main problems I had with the first season was that there wasn’t more of it, to fix the pacing issues (as I detailed in my comment on the review article).
Spitting the second season in two just makes sense, at least from what I know about the structure of the game (never played it, but couldn’t help being spoiled due to the discourse surrounding it).
Re: TV Show Review: The Last of Us (HBO) Finale - A Highlight Reel of Your Favourite Story
Re: French Cathedral Gets Demonic Makeover in Honour of Diablo 4's Upcoming Open Beta
It seems appropriate to me.
We’re talking about a big marketing campaign by a huge corporation that exploits and abuses people and makes billions of dollars. The same can be said for Activision/Blizzard. 😉
Re: European Union Likely to Pass Xbox's $69 Billion Buyout of Activision
@Kevw2006 It would be kinda hilarious if Call of Duty goes the way of Tony Hawk and Guitar Hero and loses popularity in the next few years, making their contracts with Nintendo and Nvidia worthless. Then what would their $69 billion deal be worth?
(Answer: Still a lot, because King is worth more than COD alone, let alone Blizzard with their money-printing franchises 😊)
Re: Beyond Good & Evil 2 Reportedly Loses Studio Head, French Labor Investigation Begins
And so the Ubisoft downward spiral continues.
Re: The Response to Rocksteady's Suicide Squad Has Been Abysmal
Re: Mini Review: Tales of Symphonia Remastered (PS4) - Barebones Remaster Distracts from a Classic RPG
Game makers should learn to step up their game, and make remasters like this worth buying, especially if they don’t actually improve anything. There are, y’know, other options to play these games nowadays.
On a completely unrelated note, I got a Steam Deck for Christmas. 😉
Re: The Division 2 Season 11 Delayed as Localistion Fix Spirals, Makes Updating the Game Impossible
Wow, Ubisoft can’t catch a break these days. Almost every news story lately has been something going poorly fer them.
It’s almost like the years of mismanagement and alleged abuse are causing their game designs to stagnate and to see them lose talented developers. Go figure. 🤷♂️
Re: RoboCop, Gollum Games Publisher Announces March Livestream Event
“Nacon Connect”

Cowards. 😉
Re: Social Strategy Marvel's Midnight Suns Was a Critical Darling But Commercial Flop
Except for the fact that there are Marvel characters in the game, a turn-based strategy game with card mechanics was always going to be a tough sell. I don’t see how anyone would’ve thought otherwise, and thus set the budget of the game accordingly. If they didn’t, that’s their own fault.
Re: Talking Point: Should Sony Be Worried by Live Service Implosion?
Re: Dead Island 2 Ditches That Tired Skill Tree for a Based Skill Deck
@Khayl Haha, no problems. I’m old, so I didn’t catch on to that, lol.
Re: Xbox, Nintendo Reportedly Join Sony in Skipping E3
E3’s death was inevitable. It started losing its relevancy years ago, as game publishers started realizing that they didn’t need to share the stage with each other, and online marketing was becoming way more cost-effective than putting on a physical show.
Then COVID came along, and everybody figured out how almost everything could be done remotely. That was the final nail in the coffin.
If any part of E3 survives this year, it’ll be closer to a PAX than the E3s of old, with Reedpop organizing everything. It had its time, now it’s time to move on.
Re: Life Is Strange Dev Will Take You on a Trip to the 90s in New Game
@SolaceCreed All of my teenage years were in the 90s, so my nostalgia for that decade is off the charts.
I’m 42, so I remember the times before household computers were a thing - hell, before the internet was even a thing. Now everybody goes around with a network-connected supercomputer in their pocket. Imagine how old I feel!
Re: SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake (PS4) - Old School Platformer Is One for the Fans
Re: Dead Island 2 Ditches That Tired Skill Tree for a Based Skill Deck
@khayl I think there may be a mistake in the headline, or at least it doesn’t make sense to me. It should probably read “a Skill-based Deck” or just “a Skill Deck.”
Re: Poll: Was The Last of Us - Episode 3 the Best One Yet?
That was such an emotional and heartbreaking episode. I gotta admit, there were actual tears. Most things I watch with scenes like that, yeah I well up a bit. That almost caused a full-on blubber.
I kinda wish we got a little more advancement of the main plot, but with acting that good, I’m not gonna complain.
Re: Rumour: PS Plus Essential PS5, PS4 Games for February 2023 Leaked Early
Re: PS5, PS4 Is Getting a New Brothers in Arms, But Only in Pinball FX
I already bought a lot of Pinball FX tables. No way I’m paying for all of them again.
The only thing that might change my mind is if they have an option for TATE mode. This probably only applies to me - I doubt a lot of people have installed a rotating wall mount for their TV, just to play pinball or vertical shmups. But most of the pinball games on Switch have this option - including Pinball FX - so I can’t imagine it would be too hard to add it to the PlayStation version, even if I’m the only person that might use it. 😊
Re: Microsoft Summons Sony to FTC's Activision Blizzard Court Hearing
I wonder, if the deal doesn’t go through, will Microsoft use the $69 billion they save to hire back the 10,000 people they just let go?
I’m not gonna hold breath or anything.

Re: Mini Review: Vengeful Guardian: Moonrider (PS5) - 16-Bit Samurai Cyberpunk Sidescroller Is Sensational
Re: Simon Pegg Revealed as the Voice of Hogwarts Legacy's Headmaster
@Jireland92 You’re not wrong, necessarily. Giving Pegg the benefit of the doubt, there’s a good chance - with how long this game has been in development - that he took the role before the controversy started.
But there’s also a good chance that he’ll inevitably be questioned about his stance on certain issues now, and may have not been allowed to leave the project due to signing a contract. Which means that yeah, he’s caught up in this stuff, whether he likes it or not. The actors from the movie franchise had to defend their positions on those topics, and they were involved long before the creator expressed her hateful views.
Re: One Piece Odyssey (PS5) - Anime Dragon Quest Is Oh So Good
Never got in to anything One Piece related, so this game wasn’t on my radar. Now it sounds like something I’ll have to check out at some point.
Re: Simon Pegg Revealed as the Voice of Hogwarts Legacy's Headmaster
I won’t be buying this game, both for the fact that I’ve never gotten in to Harry Potter stuff, and for the reason that I cannot state here. I’m just sad that now Simon Pegg - as well as all the developers on this project - are going to be caught up in things that are beyond their control.
I hope that the game is good for the people that aren’t bothered by the other things surrounding this game, but I’m fully on the side of the people that cannot buy it in good conscience.
Re: Forspoken Continues to Divide Opinion Following PS5 Demo
Re: Forspoken Continues to Divide Opinion Following PS5 Demo
Re: Where to Watch The Last of Us TV Show
@Pikki It should be available on Crave, with the extra $9.99 HBO upgrade.
Re: Naughty Dog Is Against Announcing Its Secret Project Too Soon
@MrDoug91 100% agree. Wait until you have a release date you know you’re going hit before setting that release date. I personally don’t mind delays, especially if it ends up being a better, more polished game. But if you don’t set a release date before you’re ready, it can’t even be called a delay.
Re: Poll: What PS5, PS4 Game Are You Most Looking Forward to in January 2023?
Am I the only one who voted for PowerWash Simulator? Maybe?
And I’m very confused about the people voting for Forspoken after playing the demo. I mean, it wasn’t terrible or anything, but how anyone could be looking forward to it after listening to the dialogue or navigating the UI for more than 5 minutes is beyond me.
