Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Designed to Be as Inclusive as Possible, Character Creation Doesn't Require a Gender

@Psychoticjp "biological sex creates gendered behavior." - Or, gender stereotypes.
As I said, 'gender' as a social construct. Sex is immutable.

Take the term 'transexual'; it has massively fallen from favour as it doesn't really sit very well in current gender ideology because those invested would have 'gender' become the ultimate descriptor.

This isn't just gender studies nonsense, it's happening out there in the world - language is being manipulated to fit a new paradigm as it so often is. We should simply dispense with notions of 'gender'. People should certainly be free to present themselves however they wish, but sex doesn't change - and gender as an identity is bogus, narcissistic and ultimately damaging to women's rights.

@Psychoticjp
Gender as social construct is based on various stereotypical and ingrained patriarchal qualities, behaviours, dress and social standing of male and female humans - 'men wear trousers, women wear skirts' - that sort of thing. Feminism spent decades breaking gender stereotypes for betterment and societal and political freedom for women.

Through wide acceptance of the current state of 'transgenderism', 'gender' has moved beyond a term for denoting binary biological sex and leaned more in to the expression of 'identity'. So you have 'non-binary', 'gender-fluid', 'agender' and other such narcissistic nonsense that largely only really serves to reinforce gender stereotypes.

If anyone's still reading all of this (ha) - my comments are based on the delivery of the information.

I see it as virtue signalling and nothing more; CDPR making out that their seemingly pretty limited/mostly standard character creation options are about diversity and inclusion. When really they are just there.

Even in the interview they conflate sex and gender, which makes me feel that they really are just ticking boxes.

It makes nigh on no difference in a game which appears to be mostly about transhumanism rather than transgenderism. In which case, it would be nice to perhaps just go with biological sex and then have at it with gender decorations. Perhaps even include all 73 genders?!

@nessisonett Couple of things:
Sex is not 'assigned' at birth, it is observed. Gender as a social construct based around sexual characteristics and patriarchy - and many trans people unfortunately have spent the last few years reinforcing gender stereotypes rather than dismantling them.
Trans 'suicide' figures are largely inflated, it's a regularly trotted out statement that trans people suffer more violence/suicide/'oppression'. Figures are fudged.
Wherever you plant your tent-pole, I wouldn't suggest to the trans 'community' at large that they cannot be gender fluid
GD is mental illness despite efforts to reclassify it and often these days coincides with a rapid onset based on social contagion. There is also far more for big pharma to gain by leading with affirmation treatments rather than anything else.
Affirmation isn't the only course.

@thefirst Burning Skies on Vita is OK. The story set up is good though the game lacks a bit of atmosphere. Main issues are the ridiculously easy difficulty and the graphics - though in fairness as far as I recall, Nihilistic didn't even have a dev kit or target specs for the Vita for a lot of the development time.

It's worth a play, and a pretty easy plat of that's your sort of thing.

I quite like the format. It's a good call I reckon, but it needs at the very least to look a lot better.

Tapping in to the original film for the setting and giving the soldiers their own missions to do dulls the Evolve-ness.

Evolve was pretty good fun though, what I played of it.

Me too. But it's a good move not to be yet another 'retro' pixel art sidescrolling brawler. Whatever the pedigree - if it looked the same, it'd get lost in the crowd I think.

SoR can afford to stand out from the pretenders and move itself forward. The team involved in this is pretty dynamite. It should be good.

Insomniac staying classy!
I've already got the main plat and traded Spidey, but it was good fun - and the photo mode is pretty versatile too.

@NintendoFan4Lyf
I don't recommend all that many games, but I'd say get to it sooner rather than later. It breaks no moulds or new ground (despite the frothing adoration), but it's a very slick package that looks great and is pretty satisfying to play.
