Re: The PS Vita Is Dead, Long Live Playdate

From ArsTechnicha:
"This is the hipster microbrew of the console world, mixing in weird gaming flavors and unique controller ingredients that the Sony/Budweisers and Nintendo/Millers of the world can't."

Because they want you to think that Sony and Nintendo(!!!) don't innovate...

@sanderson72
Their high end Xperias and iPhones are the only handsets with Remote Play support at the moment.

With 5G that could be pushed further - even though 4G is more than sufficient.

Making it more of a selling point will really have to involve network carriers quite heavily. For example, I use EE 4G, which is very good; stable, incredibly fast and pretty cheap. But the NAT type of the EE network doesn't support fixed IPs - making Remote Play impossible over 4G.

@KidBoruto
There's so much there to tap in to.

A far reaching, persistent RPG with time travel mechanics could be incredible. Unfortunately it would be expensive to produce, and the BBC just isn't about that.

It would really suit something like the old LucasArts point & click stuff too.

But no, a short, limited VR waggle game with a couple of jump scares.

I think the closest anything has come to being a good Doctor Who game was Lego Dimensions! (and that's more of a little fan service love letter).

Re: PS5 Game Streaming Will Be Just as Important as Physical Discs and Digital Downloads

KALofKRYPTON

"Would you like to embrace the streaming future and play a PS5 title as soon as it becomes available, without any prior download? Share your thoughts in the comments below."

In a word: No.

I'm fine with it being an option - but I'm still pretty unconvinced that the majority of potential users have sufficient internet access for it to work.

I have a pretty solid, average-high speed connection in the UK - wired, and PS Now was only ever 'OK'.

Also, I like stuff.

Re: Hands On: Team Sonic Racing Is a Slight But Solid Co-Op Kart Racer

KALofKRYPTON

This game still seems like such a waste of Sumo's talent and a great bunch of IPs.

I find the team racing aspect certainly more interesting now than when it was announced - but I'd still prefer it to be in a sequel to Transformed and with that (and possibly expanded) roster.

It's launching at £30 (£35 with Nintendo tax) - so hopefully that will help it get some sales and inspire future content.

Re: MediEvil Priced at £24.99/$29.99, Available for Pre-Order on PS4 Now

KALofKRYPTON

@Dellybelly They can throw up a pre-order instantly for this, yet Shakedown Hawaii - that has already been released in every other region STILL isn't there!

@Rob_230 of course!

@get2sammyb It looks like MediEvil. MediEvil wasn't very good but well liked enough.
Keep the hype-train rolling though - I'm holding our for a Nightmare Creatures remake!

Re: GRIP Adds WipEout-Like Anti-Grav Vehicles with Latest Update

KALofKRYPTON

Updated and had a quick go before sorting dinner.

The Airblades are indeed AG versions of an existing team car. The handling isn't too massive a departure from the standard cars and feels in keeping with the game.

If I were to characterise it, I'd say that the Airblade handling feels how I imagine Star Wars land speeders might.
It's not WipEout (or trying to be), and having read the press release saying that they were aiming for a middle ground between WipEout and Rollcage, I'd say they nailed it.

Cool addition.

Re: GRIP Adds WipEout-Like Anti-Grav Vehicles with Latest Update

KALofKRYPTON

Sweet!

I must admit, I haven't played it in a while. Great game though.

The new AG's look to be wheel-less versions of the existing cars - with fairly similar looking handling to the cars (as opposed to WipEout ships).

Nice - I may have tonight free to play and could probably do with a break from playing Elite.

@LiamCroft any idea how big the patch is?

Re: Sonic Movie Director Pledges to Improve Character's Design Following Fan Reaction

KALofKRYPTON

As many others on the interwebs have said - why did it need a fan-backlash? How did the design get this far without such criticism internally, or even common sense enough of what the gaming fan-base in general can be like when it comes to such an iconic character?

Glad they're considering a redesign though. Hoefully they hadn't already finished a 'Crack-Fox' (look it up, Mighty Boosh) version of Tails!

Re: Rocket League Developer Psyonix Acquired by Epic Games

KALofKRYPTON

Don't really see this as much of a problem.

Epic will no doubt try to get more cash flow from Rocket League - but so did Psyonix, and mostly for just cosmetic stuff that didn't change the actual game.

I wouldn't say that Rocket League has run its course, but I haven't played or thought about it in a while. Could give the player base a boom.

If there was any doubt that you guys weren't fully committed to the authentic snack experience:
"...and if you slam the crisp down at the wrong time, it'll snap, ruining it."

I expect a biscuit dunking follow up - including a mad dash for a spoon following a too ballsy dalliance with a Rich Tea! 😂
