Ah , the release that supposedly didn't just fry eggs, but also your Switch as it was mining bitcoin I think?
I wonder if the publisher was trying to push it through secretly to avoid the ire of the IP owner. If so, seems stupid, so I am going to assume this was above water.
30fps is no deal breaker, but it can influence my choice of platform. What I would definitely say is that 60fps should br a priority over fidelity for me, in terms of future game development.
@tameshiyaku "...the move controller, despite it's flaws, has remained relevant across three generations! I can't think of another official console controller that can claim that."
I guess you could technically count the Gamecube controller (4 gens, GC, Wii, Wii U, Switch) but yeah, the PS Move has survived through an awful lot. It's always interesting seeing gaming tech that lives longer than anyone gave it credit for. =)
Edit: Somehow missed Grumblevolcano's comment saying the same thing. My bad.
Not really any games that will interest me, but ehh. Surprise Dragon Quest XII announcement or Chrono games would be nice, but I am fairly sure neither will happen.
Most replays I do are typically because I missed something. At present, I have returned to Yakuza 0 the other day to finish up the completition list and consequently the platinum trophy (Batting and Climax battles, I can see stopping me from that), then I will be replaying the story on Legend difficulty. Currently at 96%.
Outside of unfinished business, I typically replay games that I hold dear to me. Zelda games like the N64 titles and a Link to the Past get replayed purely because I enjoy them so much that I find it relaxing for the most part. Other games I return to on a whim, normally because something causes me to remember specific moments from the game. Then I guess I get all nostalgic for thise previous experiences.
@Kalvort I mean, there was Journey too, but I don't blame you for forgetting. I would definitely argue that Uncharted Nathan Drake Collection was the better pick.
I mean, I don't like either the devkit or the final design, but I feel the final design is at least an improvement. I definitely would not want this design.
@Voltan @get2sammyb Thank you both. Always good to understand a bit more. It certainly explains quite a bit when I was nearing the end of my 2TB on PS4 why it wouldn't accept new patches despite there seemingly being space. =)
"this is because the next-gen console’s curious file unpacking format requires there to be at least 100GB of spare space before it’ll even download Call of Duty patches."
What, why?
Is this a thing on PS4 as well? Am I being stupid or is there a technical reason for this?
Of course it would be COD of all things that would cause this download record though.
I need to return to this game. I like Ichiban, but I got bored of the gameplay. It's annoying because the combat is clever and well thought out, but I just struggled to stay interested in it.
Not gonna lie, I never saw the appeal of buying that content through the PS store anyway. Why have the content locked to that one ecosystem? Unless I am massively misunderstanding something. Sucks for those who did buy this way though.
Regarding streaming services, the last thing we need is yet another. Place is oversaturated as is anyway.
@Juanalf This. I was about to say that anyone they lend too, I doubt they could do much worse.
That said, I can't really ever see Metal Gear returning. I don't think Kojima wants, Konami doesn't know what to do, and it can't be too appealing for a third company to work within such convoluted plot and setting.
I am imaging going to pit in F1, and EA charges money to change the tyres. If you don't, you best hope you can some how make another 20 laps on those intermediary tires.
@nessisonett That is probably the nicest way I have seen someone describe 3 so far. I have played 2 and Razor's Edge and 2 is easily the better game, no competition. That said, I still like 3. I am very much looking forward to playing 1.
I think my data collection is turned off, so it does not work for me. Big games would probably of been the Yakuza games and Persona 5 Royal...
I really wish this info was just available freely to access when desired instead of these wrap ups. I love seeing how my 3DS usage has changed over the years, but I cannot see the same for PS4.
I still don't personally understand why people are buying from the scalpers at inflated prices. Heck, I am not willing to buy a PS5 at the actual price of £450, so people who pay double that just confuse me. Hopefully for those interested, the stock issues will sort itself out soon.
Will probably not watch the full video when made as I have only obtained three endings so far (A, K, T), and I still want to see the true ending for myself legitimately.
But this is really cool. Discoveries like this are always amazing.
13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim keeps popping up so it must be good. I can't really fairly judge as the only game I have played on that list is Yakuza: Like a Dragon, and even then, I am only 7 chapters in. Ichiban is not Kiryu, but I think Ichiban has such outstanding personality that I am looking forward to the rest of the game with him.
@Gaming365247 This must be at least the 3rd or 4th one of these articles where I have seen you do this.
Chill. People like games, people don't like games, accept it.
Anyway, regarding the list. Not played any of these, but I have just picked up DOOM Eternal, and I am very much looking to start my New Year with that once I finish up Yakuza 7.
Looking through my backlog history, I either beat or complete,:
Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition Yakuza 3 Yakuza 4 Yakuza 5 Yakuza 6: The Song of Life Dragon Quest Builders Persona 5 Royal NieR: Automata Yooka Laylee and the Impossible Lair MediEvil Overcooked! 2 Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Judgment
In reflection, this year for me seems to have mostly been Yakuza. Currently playing Yakuza 7 right now.
@LobsterJohnson Honestly not sure. The only two games that came out this year that I have played (not including Yakuza ports) are Yakuza: Like a Dragon and Persona 5 Royal. Persona 5 Royal would probably be at the top, purely by the fact that I have finished that, and not yet finished Yakuza: LaD. But even that is an enhanced version of an existing game, so... shrug
To be fair, I think Sony only intervened for two reasons:
-The visibility of this game is significantly higher than some other major "Triple A" releases which have released in similar states. The 8 million pre-order figure I feel is proof of the visibility. -CDPR seemingly threw Sony under the bus with the refund situation.
I feel like Sony would of left well enough alone otherwise.
I mean to be fair, Cyberpunk 2077 seems to only be running well on PC at the moment, so makes sense. Don't want to break the console version by adding Cyberpunk content. =P

Games are a right mess nowadays in that sense. Sure, some aren't as bad, but most still have a day-one patch nowadays... sigh
I am not sure what the strategy is here. I would of thought higher prices would convince people to not buy at launch. I can't see this staying this way for long. To be fair though, I very rarely buy my games at launch anyway. Just wait a few months and it is typically cheap. For example, I recently brought DOOM Eternal for £15 and that only released in March. I know it doesn't include DLC, but it is still better than the £50-60 they expect at launch.
Hmmm, and I was actually interested in this one too. I feel like if I do get it, it won't be until a native PS5 version exists, and I own a PS5. Neither will be in the near future...

@AdamNovice I could be confusing Street Fighter V with Street Fighter IV, either that, or I imagined everything. Regardless though, Marvel vs Capcom would be nice. Was disappointed that Asura wasn't in infinite for Hulk to fight.
Now that I think about it, no mention of Pragmata on here? Would of thought that would of been mentioned at least due to the fact that it does exist given the PS5 trailer...
Hmmm... I don't know what this says about me as a gamer, but I have only played one of these (AC: New Horizons), and I didn't enjoy it that much; certainly not enough to consider it GOTY.
The other games I am either not interested in, or I have been waiting to get cheaper...
@naruball Indeed, a blu-ray is better comparison (£15 for standard blu-ray, £25 for 4K I believe for those curious), but I wanted to use the article's example. =)
In regards to the £70 "is it fair" question Jim is answering, I feel that the real question is "Will everyday people pay £70?" If the answer is no, then I don't understand why they would raise the price and potentially put people off until extremely cheap, than keep it at price people are very clearly willing to pay, even if they could potentially get it cheaper down the line.
“Yes, yes, I do [consider £70 to be a fair price],” he told the Telegraph. “If you measure the hours of entertainment provided by a video game such as Demon’s Souls compared to any other form of entertainment, I think that's a very straightforward comparison to draw.” Ryan, of course, is alluding to the fact that a game could take anywhere from 20 to 50 hours to complete, where many are willing to spend £20 for a two hour movie ticket.
Maybe I am wrong, but I only remember paying little over half of that to see a movie. Not to mention, For that £10 or so, you are not just getting to watch the film, you are also renting the space to watch the film, the comfy seat you will be sitting on, the big screen and fancy pants speakers, all for the length of time of the film, presumably all prepared for you beforehand by some poor employee who had to clean after the people before you.
A game on the other hand, is just the game. You are not getting a PS5/4 to play the game on, you are not getting the TV to play on. The game itself might be longer, but I would expect that since I am not getting other things instead. Not to mention, although game budgets are increasing, I don't think they regularly exceed film budgets. Comparing entertainment value is not an accurate representation on what the price should be.
I did order this shortly following a previous article, but I don't think it will arrive today. Judgement is slowly managing to pull me back in, so I'll probably play that for now.
I'll be lying if I said I wasn't nervous about the direction the series is taking, but we shall see.

Re: The Last of Us Is Getting a PS5 Remake Eight Years After Release, Claims Report
Why? The game already had an update on PS4 like a year after the game came out on PS3. Might as well remake Knack at that point...
I mean, don't remake Knack either just... surely there is something more productive?
Re: UK Sales Charts: Just Two PS5, PS4 Games Make the Top 10 This Week

Re: Ghost of Tsushima Success Could Be Key to Yakuza Samurai Games Coming West
Would love to play these, though I get the feeling they wouldn't be coming to PS4 (at least not a translated version of Ishin).
Could be the excuse to finally buy a PS5, depending on where and when this releases (and what consoles I have at the time).

It'll be good to finally play through the first game... I mean, I know it's the Sigma version, but still.
