Re: Hitman 3's Servers Tumble As Sequel Launches on PS5, PS4

Scubafinch

I take that back, there was a second entry for the PS4 version in the game library with a lock symbol on it. Clicked on the ellipses and found the PS5 version there.

Every time there's one of these upgrades they work in a different way. Hope Sony sorts this crap out.

Re: Days Gone Is Trending on Twitter Because of Cyberpunk 2077

Scubafinch

Download Days Gone as part of the Plus Collection and it's keeping me away from Valhalla at the moment as I'm enjoying my time with it immensely. I'm sure that the fact that it runs at 60fps and load times on PS5 are so much better than they were at launch are helping matters. The ability to fast travel in 10-14 seconds is also really neat! Much better than I thought it would be.

Cyberpunk will have to wait until it is a little more stable.

Re: Some PS5 Owners Are Experiencing Rebuild Database, External HDD Woes

Scubafinch

I've had 1 crash and a fair few issues with the external drive trying to move from a Pro to the PS5. Ended up reformatting the 4TB Samsung and will keep on the PS5. Since then it seems to be stable. Also had the reboot database once but no issues since then.

Loving the console otherwise. Days Gone runs very well with no noise from the console!

Re: Talking Point: What Are Your First Impressions of PS5?

Scubafinch

@jmac1686 I did the same for MM and Valhalla!

Picked mine up 8am in Sydney yesterday. Loving the console, controller and gameplay experience. However I have had a few system crashes and the wizard getting locked on the media apps selection page with no means of progressing.

I think most of my issues stemmed from connecting my PS4 external drive before starting for the first time. Samsung 4TB hdd ended up corrupted for both. Luckily it just contained game data, so downloading/installing everything again.

Ending on a positive note, family is blown away by the controller and launch games. It's a very big console, but a great one so far.

Re: Poll: Did You Buy Marvel's Avengers?

Scubafinch

Playing the single player alongside the kids and we're all really enjoying Ms Marvel's story. That alone has been worth it so far. They'll have a great time taking turns doing the missions as well. No regrets here.

Re: Review: Shadow of the Colossus (PS4)

Scubafinch

@get2sammyb Great review. I'm also one of those who'll be picking it up a third time. This time I'll let my kids play through it first and I'll see what they think. The Last Guardian was a joint affair and they really loved it.

Re: Review: Fated: The Silent Oath (PS4)

Scubafinch

@gbanas92 Yeah. Just saw that a developer answered on the Steam forums back in June.

"We are currently focused on the PlayStation VR version at the moment. All the groundwork for Episode 2 is done but unfortunatly we do not have an ETA for now."

Also, Fated does really good VR bats!

Re: Review: Fated: The Silent Oath (PS4)

Scubafinch

Played through this last night and the review is spot on. A really good experience at a fair price, with a few niggling issues. Would love the ability for smooth turning and just a slightly fasted run speed (I was holding random buttons on the off-chance of an Everybody's Gone to The Rapture tortoise level acceleration).

@get2sammyb Do we know from the developers if this is planned to be a standalone title or an episodic series?

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 160

Scubafinch

Finished Horizon Zero Dawn this weekend. Enjoyed every one of the 55+ hours. Sure, it borrows systems from so many other games, but the experience here is so cohesive. Guerrilla are leaning so hard into the world and lore they've created that it's hard not to be swept along.

The combat with the machines is excellent, giving HZD something that sets it apart from open world Ubi-tower games; I never got bored of a single encounter in all my time with it.

I've also been playing the "fill my external drive" game. With ADSL speeds "down under" less than hot, this is taking some time!

Re: January's PlayStation Plus Games Have Been Revealed

Scubafinch

Great lineup. Day of the Tentacle is one of my all time favourite games (so of course I own it already). That hamster puzzle is genius.

Looking forward to This War of Mine and Titan Souls, especially the latter game on the Vita. Biggest issue is finding time what with all the bloomin' Lego games I have to play with the kids!

Re: DLC Review: Batting Balls with Bethesda Pinball on PS4

Scubafinch

@Tasuki I like The Pinball Arcade but the developers were always keen on pushing out more tables across as many platforms without fixing UI issues and bugs. The lack of cross-buy PS3->PS4 was also really annoying, especially given the high price of the season passes. Couldn't help getting Adams Family on Pinball Arcade... such memories. Zen Studios let you pay once and get the table on all three of Sony's platforms (the Vita being my go to pinball machine).

@AlexStinton Fair review. I was getting rather annoyed with the constant drop into the shop and having to navigate to the exit. Perhaps the hole shouldn't light until you have enough credit to buy something? I think with some tweaking the Skyrim and Fallout tables can be salvaged. Doom is awesome though.

Re: Review: Pinball FX2 VR (PS4)

Scubafinch

Looks great, but like others I own every table they've released for Zen Pinball 2, so cannot justify the cost. If they offered a Driveclub to Driveclub VR like discount it might sweeten the deal.

Back to my portable pinball machine it is (Vita implementation is damn good).

Re: Poll: What Are Your Thoughts on PlayStation VR So Far?

Scubafinch

Units are pretty much all sold out here in Australia and looks like new preorders won't be satisfied until December... no Move controllers until January. Says a fair bit about the hunger for a new experience.

I got lucky when my wife grabbed one on release day, and all we've been playing is the demos and Playroom VR. Highlights were the Mrs playing Kitchen and playing Playroom's Godzilla inspired mini game with the kids. Great stuff.

Will be working through Batman VR tonight, and perhaps Volume which was recently patched.

No buyers remorse here (though it is early days).

Re: UK Store GAME Will Sell You a PS4 Pro for £174.99

Scubafinch

There's a similar deal going on here in Australia with EB Games. $559 for the Pro, $349 if you trade a 500GB PS4 with any game. $210 is a little under what you can get on EBay, but not by too much.

Given mine is a launch day PS4 that has been heavily used for 3 years, it might not be a bad idea to get value for it. On the negative side it will make it harder to transfer content across and involve juggling drives as opposed to LAN transfer... as long a P.T. survives!

Re: PS4 Pro Specs Reveal More Than Twice the GPU Speed, Better Wifi

Scubafinch

@SanderEvers Yeah, based on the specification it looks like it doesn't support 4K blu-ray. I'd like to see an official press release confirming this, because leaving that out seems like a dumb move.

The PS3 sold well on the premise that it was a cheaper entry point into blu-ray than stand-alone players. This in turn helped bolster the blu-ray market. To think that Sony would not put a 4K player in the Pro when they've known Microsoft were using it in the slim? Crazy.

Re: Review: ABZÛ (PS4)

Scubafinch

Great review Kell. Completely agree.

I've been diving for over 15 years and ABZU evokes many of experiences I've had. The interactions with aquatic life, the sense of scale and the sheer tranquility of it all. Coupled with that score by Austin Wintory and you have something truly special.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 111

Scubafinch

Disney Infinity - Marvel Battlegrounds with the kids. They absolutely love this add on and it's hard not to see why. Everyone can play thanks to 4 player support and there's a decent handicap system in place to make the whole thing fair.

First day of football season here in Australia and got caught between the opposition centre forward and our keeper... took a knee in the back and now I'm laid up. So the Vita is going to get a work out with more XCOM EU: Plus. Slowish load times and frame rate don't bother me as it's all here, with Enemy Within content!

Re: Review: DriveClub Bikes (PS4)

Scubafinch

Great review Sammy. The bikes addition to Driveclub was a great surprise and a hoot to play.

I've been a follower of Push Square for some time and can't believe that I hadn't registered to comment before now. Just wanted to say that your reviews are well written and extremely balanced for a Sony specific site. Keep up the good work!
