It's a shame what they are doing to this franchise. The reason that the last game didn't do so well is because Sam Fisher wasn't Sam Fisher any more. The biggest mistake was to change Micheal Ironside as the voice of Sam Fisher. Like others said there is a big hole that needs to filled in stealth games. Already everybody is so fed up with open world games, especially from Ubisoft. Once my favorite developer, they really lost touch with their fan base, and they are continuing to disappoint fans with this kind of news (PoP including)
Totally not shocked. Wasn't expecting for a GOW sequel this year. In the mean time just downloaded GOW on the PS5 and it's amazing. I thought on the Pro was a better experience than the base, but on PS5 is way better.
Received my PS5 2 days ago. Planning to buy o hard copy today of cyberpunk to say what is all the fuss with this game. Luckily the game's price also tanked. It's less than 25$ in store.
It's not enough to have the hardware available for the devs. You need to have special API tailord for the hardware so the devs can implement this easily to their games. Probably Nintendo's software was not so strait forward and maybe that's why it was left for dead. I heard that Sony's implementation is really easy to work with. Devs will never spend extra on gimmicks if it's not strait forward. Remember PS3's CELL ?
Manage to get a PS5(after 6 months of waiting for a reservation in a local retailer) can't wait to play this again when it arrives in 3 days at home. Problem is I'm serving a 4 months contract on board a ship ) to wait will be brutal.
@Jaz007 PSVR allready has one wire. It's the breakout box that has more cables. Sony has been ambiguous about the new setup. I highly doubt it that PSVR2 will not have a breakout box. The USB-C 3.2 at the front is not fast enough for 2x1080p @ 120hz displays if this will be the setup. If it was USB4 maybe one cable.
No body is in a hurry to buy games for 70$/70€. For example in East Europe where the avarage salary is around 400-500€ to pay these kind of prices for games is outrageous . And most people still trying to buy a PS5 (me included) at least after a raffle in Romania you are put on a waiting list when available you will be notified if u still want to buy.
@AgentGuapo on Oculus they have internal processing so they don't need to send video/audio signal through . PS5 has USB 3.2 and that's 10gbs. A 2.0C HDMI has 18gbs so I don't think will be possible without a breakout box. Or at least the headset should come with a small signal splitter. The PS5 can already do 3Daudio so still possible without. Why oh why they didn't add a second HDMI port on the PS5. Cause they already had planned PSVR2. Or maybe when PSVR2 will come, PS5 slim with USB4 will be launching, same like they did with the first PSVR and PS4 slim/pro
Hopefully no breakout box will be required . Maybe Sony will update the PS5 firmware and the front usb-C is actually a USB4 and the one wire is achievable.
Still waiting in Romania for the adaptor. I made the order as soon as the website went up. Contacted support, told me to wait. Still don't have my PS5 so ... No rush
@MPaulson custom is the way to go. Like @God_of_Nowt said before it has it's ups and downs but the end result will always be better. Sony apparently still has the best low level API out there, nothing on PC compares to that. Maybe Vulkan but it's not mainstream with developers and from what I understood, very difficult to code for. And most PC developers are working with DirectX for a long time and they will not make the transition so easily.
@MPaulson difficult when your api scales across Xbox and PC. I think it will never reach its full potential. And most developers still working on DirectX 11.
@God_of_Nowt I think also Microsoft’s approach to unify development of Xbox games and PC through DirectX scalability is a pour choice. We all know the results are much better when you have development tools breed for one hardware . Sony knows it, Apple knows it
The “inferior” hardware strikes again. When it comes to multiplat and you have a system like series S in your development, always GPU speeds will be more important, same as PC more cores doesn’t mean more performance. You need proper optimization to get the full potential and this doesn’t happen to often with 3rd party. Can’t wait to see what the other PS Studios do with PS5 later in it’s development cycle.
Where is this launch in Europe?? even place holders are missing on websites. I was hoping for some pieces to be available on launch day, but nothing. Only pre-orders, nothing else. FYI I’m from Romania.
Very strange version number, sounds like a beta build honestly ). Or this kind of updates applies to more than just OS, maybe even firmware update for the I/O controller. I know that many people don't care about the technical part but would have been nice to get at least a link to check all changes that this update implies.
@God_of_Nowt two words ... bad management !! I don’t know if you can blame all on Jim Ryan, but also this is the Japanese way, to overcomplicate everything. I think everybody would have been very happy if it would have shipped with Orbis with few updates and everything would have been so much better.
@God_of_Nowt yeah, at a hardware level I’m very impressed at what Sony managed to to, especially unloading all other constraints from the main chip (I/O decompression and even audio) and from a developer’s stand point still has a better low level API that can really squeeze everything from the system, in comparison with the triple OS and DirectX 12 on XBox. But it’s clear from a software stand of view PS5 was not ready to ship, and at some point they should have realized this and just work in parallel with 2 OS, especially if you say that the devkits are working on PS4 OS, ship with that cause it works, people will be happy about the new console not the UI.
Edit: look also at the PSStore website and app. Why change it if it’s not ready ?? Just to show people that you kept your promise and everything is changed ? Change is not always good.
It’s not a Assassins Creed game if it’s not buggy. Really Ubisoft has transformed it’s self, in my eyes, from the best game developer to just a cash grab studio, getting really close to EA. Lost their focus with other titles. Prince Of Persia, Splinter cell, Beyond Good & Evil. They should just change their name in to “Open World Studios”
@God_of_Nowt thanks for the update on the mechanics. Just talking from references. The console is still not out in Europe, and have no idea if I can find one in Romania when I get home in December. Here’s hoping for a miracle already ordered my PSVR adaptor, can’t wait to see how blood & truth looks like on PS5. Cheers mate
@God_of_Nowt with so many issues this year. It would have been better for Sony to just take Microsoft’s path, ship the PS5 with the PS4 OS, improve on it where it was necessary to make it work on PS5 and later on when everything has settled introduce the new UI to the people through a Software update.
Maybe it’s defaulting on the PS4 version because people didn’t buy the ultimate edition. The upgrade for PS5 version it’s not free right ? So maybe that is the issue also, that the developer put the game under a paid wall and most players are still confused about the upgrade path of Sony games. Some are free, some not.
I have a gigabit connection and I can say that on PS4 pro the speeds are capped. Never got more than 300mbs in connection test. Especially when downloading games speeds are much slower. Using a wired connection of course.
@Beefy01 they are good games but most of them are to short or just experiences. I enjoyed Farpoint with the AIM Blood & Truth even the VR worlds. Can’t wait to play in December Vader immortal when I get home.
@Zeke68 ok just lazy to check ) the question why Sony didn’t release in this time frame a new controller. Now would have been nice to play HL Alyx on PS5
When you see games coming out on a yearly basis is hard to justify that this games have a big budget and costs have gone up (NBA 2K and soon maybe EA Sports also) and after paying the full price for the game is still full of MicroT. I think this yearly based games should just move to a Game as a Service. I understand to support developers which have been working for 3-5 years on a game but not those kind of games, they are not worth it. Also new game prices in Romania for ex is about 100$, I don’t argue with the price increase ... but the difference between $ € £ it’s not equal in any way.
At this point I just wish Sony would’ve went with Microsoft’s approach and just launch with the same OS with some additional features. Clearly this year has proven difficult for Sony to launch PS5. They didn’t learn their lesson with PS4 ... luckily it plays PS4 games at launch.
@get2sammyb yeah it’s true but given that PSVR launched for PS4 ... what 2 years ago, they had plenty of time to launch it. They launched the PSVR AIM, awesome by the way, but they had more games to take advantage of new move controllers. If they want for PSVR to take off, they need to commit to it, still missing AAA games, most games on PSVR are glorified demos.
So the bottom line is that PSVR won’t get new games for PS5 but PS4 PSVR games can have patches for PS5. That’s just silly really. I don’t understand why Sony is so stubborn and don’t release a new set of move controllers with self tracking and movement controls the Head Set is still good, just held back by the PS4. Like usual Jim Ryan makes a mess of things and everything is so confusing. Really PS5 wasn’t ready to come out this year.
Would be nice if Santa Monica can keep December 21 fixed for GOW2. The last game took them 5 years to finiah, now this one will be 3 years. Either the development on PS5 is just a easy transition from PS4, either we will not see big improvements in graphics and the game will also be available on PS4 same like HFW. Having such a big install base on PS4 my guess is that GOW will be cross gen.
Hell yeah. Can't wait to play this on PS5 when I go home in December. Hopefully I can find a PS5 after launch in Romania. Adaptor already ordered ... Let the Matrix begin )
@Weebleman yes it can run only PS4 games, but if devs unlock the frame rate for their games, PSVR is capable of 1080p 120hz it's just limited by the PS4 hardware.
