For all the Xbox fans out there wait for reviews before you buy a series x. The cooling sys looks flawed in my opinion I think it will thermal throttle. Series S looks much better with a traditional active cooling. The series x looks to dense to have proper air flow, would have been a better solution to put the fan under and just force pull fresh air inside.
And what Cerny said is true, is harder to fill up al 52CU units with something to do, than having less CU but at a higher clock speed. U can see this on PC space, if u over clock a 2070ti u are coming in the same lvl of performance with 2080. And a smaller dye is easier to cool to.
@DeepSpace5D you have to understand that Sony this time is going with a costume solution for the GPU than what it was on the PS4. With the gpu scrubbers and the direct access to the SSD. Plus with the I/O, decompression and 3D audio all have separate chips, taking any strain from the CPU and GPU. Microsoft didn’t go all that costume, plus the OS constrain in the system because if it’s running the same Os like the XOne than will be 3 different ones. That’s why in real life you will not see a big difference between the 2 consoles. Time will tell
@Blaster_master you have to take in consideration that the 1TB after format will be around 850gb of usable storage, plus the 3 op sys that Microsoft is using for the Xbox it will be actually around 800gb of usable storage. If Sony will go again with BSD, you have to know that the core BSD is less than 1gb.
Looks like this game will launch holiday 2020. Another launch title for PS5. You can watch the IGN coverage, the devs confirmed the release date ... it’s not a leak
If everybody is worried about logistical issues ... relax. During the lockdown sea and air cargo transport whore at all times high, it never stopped. I’m a seaman and I can tell you that no vessel was stopped due to the pandemic. Mostly all people in logistics/transportation are working remotely and this isn’t an issue. If a issue exists it will be on supplier shortages, especially I think from TSMC’s side. They have a lot of orders to fulfill this time of year. From Apple, Qualcomm, AMD especially with the SOC for Sony and Microsoft , Ryzen4 and Navi2. Quality control can be an issue also due to restrictions for traveling.
Don’t want to offend nobody’s beliefs but they are 120mil PS4 user alone + 60mil Xbox users, we can say that at least 50% own a PC. While Sony and Microsoft playing chicken, nVidia gave the early adopters a new option. Buy our next gen gpu for 499 in oct, before the consoles release. Any way, the bulk of the Console users are casual and they will wait until next year for a price drop to buy a next gen console.
@SirAngry that 11-14% can be the early adopters. Especially on the Xbox side, because all games can be played on PC, and looks like this will be the norm even for PS exclusives later on. So I think this can influence a lot the price of the new consoles. Also nVidia can influence the price of the SOC inside the consoles, remember that when the Super launched AMD was forced to lower the price of NAVI.
I think nVidia’s show case has pretty much sealed the price for the new consoles in place. To remain competitive with the PC space, both consoles will be priced at 499$ same like the RTX 3070. Most console owners have a PC also and if the price is higher, some people would go for the “2080ti” performance just for 499$ instead of the new consoles.
Can’t wait for this service to go live in Romania. It’s a real good value and a good opportunity to play some games that I missed on PS3. Or just returning to some oldies but goldies. From that list Force Unleashed comes to mind. I’m really disappointed that Disney closed all projects for LucasArts; was looking forward for Part 3 and the Bounty Hunter game with young Bobba Fett.
I think Ubisoft is just out of touch with it’s community. Forgot about the franchises that really set them apart ( splinter cell and prince of Persia ) big fan of the assassins creed franchise, but it’s got a little bit stale. Origins was a surprise, they took there time, didn’t release on a yearly basis and showed improvement. Still hoping that they will finally just drop the animus crap. Wasn’t fun with Desmond Miles, now it’s just a waste of time.
It’s funny that all everybody has for XSX is the hands on of DF that actually it’s not a hands on. Don’t get me wrong I’m not a fanboy, if a product is good, reliable, and has GAMES cause that’s the most important thing, I will buy that. I chose 360 over PS3, and PS4 over XOne.
@Jarobusa people should stop watching DF. You do understand that they are under NDA wright ?? and they can’t say anything related to the XSX. Also what they where playing Minecraft and Forza was on a DEVKIT witch is just a PC not a XSX.
For example the Corsair One has the same form factor like the XSX and it’s water cooled. The XSX is so dense that air flow is highly restricted. I won’t be shocked at launch that the series x is throttling or even they will silently downclock the final product. We will see what PS5 has, but by the sheer size of it you can figure it out that they want to have as much air flow as possible in the console.
I know this is off topic for this post, but in my opinion Microsoft has issues either with supply or hardware. That’s not a way to cool all that stuff (APU GDDR VRM) under the same heat sink and cooled passively. If it doesn’t have a big a$$ cooler on top that’s not actively cooled. I think would have been a better solution to put that fan on the bottom and just force push fresh air in the system. Hot air rises up basic physics. You don’t need a cooler on top to eject the hot air out, especially when you design the console vertically. And the bottom vents are so restricted due to that stand. But hey, that’s my opinion not an design engineer. But have some experience from 20 years of PC building and fixing.
@Jarobusa Even he acknowledged at the beginning that it’s a prototype (dummy unit) doesn’t prove nothing if you didn’t see it plugged in and playing games. Was a dummy also on display a few weeks ago in Germany. My point still stands Microsoft didn’t showcase nothing playing on XSX until this day.
@Jarobusa who has XSX in their hands ??? The only time we XSX was with the dummy teardown unit. Until this day Microsoft didn’t show nothing running on a XSX.
It was said before, that Microsoft is poring so much money in BC it’s because they didn’t have to many first party studios and other then 3 franchises Xbox one was devoid of 1st party games. Even for Microsoft BC it’s not easy. You don’t put the disk inside and starts playing. It’s just validating the disc and the game is downloaded from the internet, a modified version that’s actually playable on the system. And Microsoft invested money in to each title to make it playable. It’s not just directX or architecture every game needs validation.
Everybody who is thinking about ps1 b/c it’s just not possible due to the BR-Player inside. It just can’t read CDs. That’s out of the box from the get go.
Most people don’t know it but actually the panel on the PSVR is @ 120hz so it can do 120fps, the only big limitation is the PS4 itself. Resolution also not so bad if all games would run natively at 1080p. Tracking is not bad in the headset. They have to do something about the Move Controller. That’s just bad especially without any analog stick on it.
IMO people are frustrated with the lack of information and this stupid game of chicken between them. Also people are looking for a better reason to pay a premium price at launch for this new consoles, as if hardware is not enough. The games will come, and the consoles will be priced accordingly to there specs. Compared to PS4 and XBOX1 when they launched with mediocre specs even for 2013, this generation we will have a premium product.
Sony will not push the console to next year if Microsoft's consoles will be released this year. To be competitive they need to release in the same time frame. Everybody still complaining about launch titles. Ok you don't have to many exclusives but you have other AAA titles to look forward to + backwards compatibility. PS4 had a worse launch catalogue.
MAFIA was the best game for me growing up. I can honestly say that it's much better than the original GTA3. Stellar gameplay, mechanics and what a story. I think it will be a good game, Hayden Blackman was the game director for SW Force Unleashed. That game gave me a reason to buy my first console xbx360.
The idea is that people don't like to compare this to a full blown PC with all the capabilities of the console. At a 600-700 price point it's just not achivable. Second point is that it's a investment for several years 5 at least. People are spending more on phones every year but they're complaining about a high price for the next gen consoles. Most probably PS4 will continue to be sold, and parents that are interested to buy a new console for their kids will probably buy it. But the enthusiasts will still buy the PS5 like the PS3 at launch.
There is still a chance for sony to announce that PS5 has an extra CELL SOC for BC. Doesn't need to be on 7+ NM. 14NM is very cheap now and I think they can cool that sucker passively. Much better solution than software emulation, and I think finally cheaper. Even for PS Now will reduce the strain on their servers and just download the old games on the console. For that I will pay 600$ no brainer
Everybody's focus should be on a stable 60 fps, is more than anyone can ask for at the moment from the next gen. Heres hopping for more ray tracing also. It's still early to see the full capabilities of the new console as games are still made cross-gen focused and not next-gen.

Also you have to take in account all the piracy on PC. There are more owners of PC + Console but most of them don’t pay for games on PC.
