I love how they're capturing the look of the game. One of the most important aspects IMO was that sense of neglected overgrown yet still familiar spaces.
@tartanross yes, these high sales figures are entirely down to putting out faulty products and forcing multiple purchases.
And Avatar used cutting edge technology (in 2009) to give an experience that made it worth people's time, money and effort to go to the Cinema. Narratively it's not amazing, and doesnt quite shine on the small screen but.... Sales is sales.
Or maybe it was people buying multiple tickets because the cinema burned down the first time.
Those figures, nearly 30 million more than the PS3 and about 65 million (!!!) more than the xbone, are testament to their great work this past generation. What's a game pass again?
A friend of mine approaching 40 has played nothing else but fortnite for the past few years. We even gave him a copy of red dead to show him the kind of stuff his ps4 was capable of. But to no avail. He loves it too much haha.
What about the investigation elements is 'fleshed out' in this game? Some actual deduction on the part of the player, rather than just minigames and finding stuff in the environment would be great.
@The_New_Butler I think a comparison is always useful. To go back to the original subject, gamepass released in 2017, it barely helped them shift even 40% of the amount of consoles Sony did last gen. And even though its early days, its looking roughly the same ratio between the ps5 and serieseses. I think that commitment to quality exclusives is the difference, (well executed if not always particularly original) and far outweighs gamepass as a consumer incentive.
Do you think the Bethesda announcements will change that? That is the big win for microsoft IMO.
The leading examples of narrative depth and creative integrity would be the Last of Us 2 and Death Stranding. As many loved them as hated them, but they are both strong examples of a strong creative vision put before mass market considerations. No one else really does that at a blockbuster level.
Another example for contrast would be God Of War. That paid tribute to the originals whilst very much forging its own path, whereas microsoft seem to be marketing Halo Infinite as 'look, its exactly that thing you remember but shinier'. It may as well be a remaster.
Halo was interesting 20 years ago. Now they are pushing the nostalgia because they simply failed to establish anything else. It's fan fiction. Compare Sony's multitude of new and successful IP. Game pass is for consoomers of 'content' who make soy face at a new Star Wars trailer. Playstation is where people who enjoy games with depth of narrative and creative integrity are at.
Hard to believe that the massively weird and indulgent original wasnt a directors cut. A game I hated at first but kinda grew to love and saw me through a hundred hours of lockdown and the first game I ever intentionally platinum trophied. Not sure if Id be down for it all again though.
Yes it looks like more Dark Souls..... But it will be out almost six years since Dark Souls 3. It's hardly like we're drowning in them. (Sekiro and Bloodborne are their own beasts and imitators are just that.)
@WallyWest The First Blade stuff was atrocious. The other stuff and AC3 made up for it, but it was like they handed off the writing to a particularly untalented monkey. Hope Valhalla doesnt have that slump and can maintain what is already a pretty low bar of quality.
Wasn't as good as the Sonic movie. But I laughed at the gore and Kano was entertaining and it wasn't too long, though I did lose interest towards the end. It's like something that would have had Dolph Lundgren in if made around 1989. I did keep thinking "when are we getting to the tournament?" but I guess that's for a sequel.
Hopefully a sequel can bring in more meaningful detective elements. I was really expecting more of a focus on that side of things but it was almost non-existant. It was Yakuza and therefore a lot of fun, but they could really be onto something if they knuckled down on the investigation aspect. Like Ace Attorney, or a Frogwares Sherlock game but with a bit of the old ultraviolence.
First playthroughI tried my best to solve the case and get along with my partner. Second I'm playing the worst cop I possibly can.... drug addicted lecherous communist... and it's hilarious and sad all at once.
It's the definition of just okay. As the Pushsquare review said, it was comfort food. Very badly paced in my opinion, with vastly unlikeable characters (Sarah). But the NG +, tooled up from the beginning and ignoring the tedious camp stuff its.... still just okay. Also not everything has to be a franchise
Got to the Don Corneo dance off and decided life was too short. Some parts were genuinely thrilling when they hit that nostalgia button just right but it was just in amongst too much badly written anime cringe.

Re: Shin Megami Tensei Offshoot Monark Dated for February 2022
Question: Do the Persona and Shin Megami tensei games all share a universe or is it a new thing each time like Final Fantasy?

Then Makoto.
Re: Site News: Lost Judgment PS5 Review - Where Is It?
A bit dissapointed that the detective elements are apparently still so half-arsed. But, it's still gonna be great fun.

I'm hoping for the return of the Yakuza six baseball team manager. Got oddly engrossed by that. A high school league would be perfect.

@zupertramp The writing in the games is cringe, I think it was being faithful. At least it had the sense not to take itself too seriously.
