Re: Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut Solves PS5 Save Transfer Woes

TheDudeElDuderino

To think I was one of the dudes laughing at Microsoft calling their solution "smart delivery". I mean c'mon, pretentious much?
Well, guess what, 18 months in as a 1st time xbox gamer (xb1x and then xbsx) and maaaan how PlayStation looks archaic in regards to how it manages both save files and different platforms game files. I just never ever have to think about these things, it just works on XB.
Bringing in Spiderman ps4 save game to ps5 was just the worst. Sony has not thought these things through. But then, they know we'll accept the suffering for the unique and great games they have on offer, so...

Re: UK Sales Charts: GTA 5 Just Keeps on Selling, Hades Makes Top 10

TheDudeElDuderino

@Fiendish-Beaver "$21 for 12 months is one bargain I found today"... please share, I have not been able to find anything that spectacular in the last 18 months.
I love the service, but I like and use ps now as well. They are quite different beasts though and the MS promise of having 1st party day one on the service made me into a huge xb fan. From "xbox never" to "xbox forever" in 5 seconds. 😁 Well, actually not - it took them 19 years to get me but I went from xb1x to xbsx within the same year 😂 and gamepass is great for anyone who has missed all previous xb games. That is to say, I am well in the "this is an outstanding service" camp.

Re: This Is the PS5 SSD System Architect Mark Cerny Is Using

TheDudeElDuderino

@Mergatro1d what @Pusher2021 @PlayNation5 said, keeping the nvme chips bellow a certain temperature will ensure top performance, if the temp goes up, performance will suffer and long term you will be shortening that nvme's lifespan. I don't agree with the notion that a factory fitted heatsink is always the best. Most manufacturers choose aluminium as the metal of choice and coper is a bit better for this purpose.

Re: Horizon Forbidden West Delayed to 2022, Says New Report

TheDudeElDuderino

@reek
THEN you let Abby have her revenge. But let Joel have a dignified death, he should be older, weaker and well cognisant of his sins, the situation must be such that he accepts his faith, makes a move to actively remove Ellie from the scene, knowing that he has it coming, and forgives Abby (who is still blinded by rage of revenge) for what she is about to do. Abby kills Joel quickly but this act actually breaks her as it brings her no joy and no resolution. Ellie manages to get there too late and is defeated by Abby who spares her life and tells her what Joel did to her.
Abby goes back to her band. Ellie back to hers.
Tommy swears revenge and goes hunting for Abby.
Ellie is sent to bring Tommy back.
This part would play out pretty much the same with Ellie having some nice moments with Dina but they sadly know they can't have the life they wished for. People are the actual monsters angle etc.
Abby misunderstands Ellie's involvement and we have a showdown pretty close to what we had in the game WITHOUT Ellie murdering a pregnant woman but surely murdering some of Abby's friends BUT it would have been as a result of big misunderstanding as is the whole showdown of this part. It's less about people being obsessed by rage and more people failing at trying to do good because of lack of trust and the baggage of history.
The part when Abby is coming to terms with her demons and her sins (including killing Joel) would be parts where she meets the trans boy and his sister. That's an opportunity to show the struggles of that with the thing DEFINITELY NOT ending in the only trans character murdering their mother. No, that mother should have been shown as going through the difficulties herself as well.
The end game of Ellie finding Abby imprisoned and tortured would still happen but Ellie would not be there driven by hate but coming to terms with who Joel was and driven by "I was, although not willingly, a part, a reason why this girl lost her father" so she would actually be trying to find and rescue Abby and after their unification they both go at it to end that slaveowning bunch of *****. We would need some coming to terms that they both had not ideal fathers/father figures but as the next generation they find a way to move forward.

Obviously, this is written like ***** right here and there are a lot of places to work out who, why how and driving motivation etc. etc. but my belief is that they went the easy cheesy cheap cheap way with a lot of pandering to what is seen as being progressive today with no real depth and courage. I know it looks like it was but it ain't IMO.

Re: Horizon Forbidden West Delayed to 2022, Says New Report

TheDudeElDuderino

@reek that would have been the least safe way to go. The thing is, tlou2 is full of faux bravery in writings fueled by hipsters salivating over unleashed beardman.
What would have been a brave tlou2 imo?
This:
Spend more time showing us Abby's father and his relentless (wrong) conviction that he can save the human race by dissecting people resistant to infection. He put that goal above remaining human. Don't idolise him, humanise him. Spend more time showing us how Abby actually idolised him and how their relationship was good.
Let us live through the shock of Abby losing her only parent (she should have been a hidden witness unable to move and scared for her life). From then on she is obsessed with revenge.
Bring some reality into the story. Show Ellie actually being a part of surviving human community. She is still lesbian but throughout her growing up she does go through what they did with Dina. Ellie would have had a boyfriend and would have become a mom, because that's what you do in an apocalypse if humanity is to restore itself, people will birth new children. This would of course make Ellie deeply sad as she would NOT be able to openly consume her love to Dina (let's face it, in a world where all civilization advances are lost, there would be zero tolerance for anything out of the norm and you would have authoritarian form of government in any setup). Then, as a parent, Ellie would find out about being lied to but would take this news as an adult and not as a child understanding what lengths you'd go through to save your child. Her bond with Joel grows stronger.

Re: Horizon Forbidden West Delayed to 2022, Says New Report

TheDudeElDuderino

@NEStalgia GoW2 is not going to see 2022, just no way. GoW development ate 4 years and they had just one platform to worry about. The game came out in 2018 and the team for sure did not start their work on the next one in 2018, so 2019 at best. There is no way that thing is coming out any time in the next 17 months (game development under covid conditions, two platforms etc.), yeah, no, man.

Re: Seagate FireCuda 530 Is the First Third-Party SSD Compatible with PS5

TheDudeElDuderino

@BAMozzy we are on different frequencies. I am saying that the end result will not be the same. Similar? Yes. Identical? NO. Better? Hell no. You have a different opinion. Fine.
Cheers, those planes are not gonna fly themselves in Flight Simulator (I wish xbsx version of the game actually utilised ssd storage to the fullest and that xbsx actually had ps5 grade storage... ps5 vs xbsx in their late years will be ps3 vs xb360 (one could do the unimaginable the other was an old console)).

Re: Seagate FireCuda 530 Is the First Third-Party SSD Compatible with PS5

TheDudeElDuderino

But also, people, don't worry, any external usb ssd for your ps4 games and as for ps5 native games why worry, there will not be enough of them released until spring 2023 🤣 to take uo the space so we are all good
To friend players on this site who did not manage to snatch a ps5 - you are just fine, there is nothing to lose your sleep over. Honestly, just wait for black friday bundles 2022. PS4 still rocks!

Re: Seagate FireCuda 530 Is the First Third-Party SSD Compatible with PS5

TheDudeElDuderino

@BAMozzy thanks, I know the video by heart and understand the technology quite well, and I am telling you "similar" will not be "identical". You go back to the video and pay attention to how they organised memory modules of the internal ssd and communication channels to those chips and you will see where the advantage to pcie nvme is. Sure, it will be "similar" but give it some time until they release it and test - you will see that there will be differences if you run a game from the internal vs nvme storage.

Re: Seagate FireCuda 530 Is the First Third-Party SSD Compatible with PS5

TheDudeElDuderino

@Floki I have an xbsx, and you are comparing apples to pokemon. Yes, xb's solution is neat and easy. Is it cheaper though? Pound for pound (in terms of performance for your buck) hell no. That's like comparing an Audi R8 to a Bugatti Chiron.
Is R8 a damn fast car? Yes it is. It still ain't a Bugatti Chiron.
In three years time you will see xb doing another xb revision to catch up with Sony's current storage performance and Sony doing another ps5 revision to catch up with xbsx compact design.

Re: Seagate FireCuda 530 Is the First Third-Party SSD Compatible with PS5

TheDudeElDuderino

@BAMozzy "with the same (or better)", I get what you are saying and you are not wrong, but "better" is a long way off simply because the internal storage silicone is designed to be accessed differently. I have my doubts that even the fastest m2 pcie4 currently on the market (so, 7000 and up, sequential read) will be able to perform the same way the internal storage does, but let's see when digital foundry comes out with their tests.

Re: PS Plus August 2021 PS5, PS4 Games Leaked by Sony

TheDudeElDuderino

@ArcadeHeroes for sure not for subscription games. If you have plus for that you are better off looking at what ps now has to offer. Ps plus is slowly nearing the abysmal xbox gold although not really so bad. Both ps plus and gold are either a necessary evil (keep it for online play and cloud storage) or a way to benefit from multiple additional discounts when buying games.
Looking for a subscription that gives you "free" games to play- on xbox, gamepass is a no brainer, on ps, psnow is steadily improving its offering.

Re: Anna Torv Joins The Last of Us TV Show Cast as Tess

TheDudeElDuderino

@Profondo it goes like this and it's not that deep:
I can appreciate an actor's body of work or previous roles they did without actually liking them. I can find them even repulsive but still appreciate when they are good at what they do.
The so far announced cast doesn't excite me and some of the actors I can't stand. They are still great.

Anna Torv is the "I like the roles she did, I like her in those roles and I know she will be a great Tess, but honestly, I am simping, you could have put her in a rendition of the three stooges, AS ALL OF THE STOOGES, and I would still be excited...soooo "THIS DOES IT for me" 😂

Re: Looks Like The Last of Us 2 Has Been Permanently Discounted on PS Store

TheDudeElDuderino

Thanks but no thanks. They would need to pay me to play it. And yes, I actually liked Abby (minus all the ways they made her unethical). My problems with the game are purely with poor, poor dogshit writing. Not a problem with the demise of this or that character, not a problem with new characters. Motivations, in-world rules and what drives characters, cheap plot "twists" and unexplored subplots. It's a mess.

Re: Soapbox: What Makes Returnal So Special

TheDudeElDuderino

@nessisonett @RBMango right there with you two, and because I realised that when the game came out I decided to stay away.
"Returnal will now likely find itself in my" waiting-for-it-to-come-to-PSPlus-or-PSNow list, when I will play it until the first time I rage quit and promptly uninstall.
