Re: Soapbox: Why I'm Worried About Star Wars Battlefront on PS4

Trikeboy

I'm a massive Star Wars fan and this game did nothing for me. It feels like something is missing. Something called campaign. Missions is basically a challenge mode. Those are fun for a time, for example I love the challenges in Transformers Devastation, but whan that is all there is for gamers wanting a solo experience, that high price point is just not enticing.

Re: Soapbox: Why PS4's Indie Influx Isn't as Bad as You Think

Trikeboy

Most of the big games on the PS4 hold no interest for me. I only got the PS4 for Batman Arkham Knight really. I do like the indie scene though. There are some really fun games out there if you don't just focus on the big budget games. Some of them are even made better too.

Re: E3 2015: Platinum Games Is the Robot in Disguise Behind Transformers: Devastation

Trikeboy

Platinum is a great developer but Activision is a bad publisher. They will want things done quickly. Platinum proved what they can do if they have time to make a game when Nintendo gave them time to work on Bayonetta 2. I worry that Activision will rush this out the door like they did with Rise of the Allspark. I'm glad I can get it on my PS3 but would rather have had it on PC or Wii U.

Re: Review: Mortal Kombat X (PlayStation 4)

Trikeboy

The problem with the story mode is Mortal Kombat has always had an engaging and intricate story and this one had a very disappointing story and ending. They deliberately left things out for a sequel.

Re: Round Up: What Happened During PlayStation's E3 2014 Press Conference?

Trikeboy

Well, Nintendo 2013 was good for Wii U owners but it did very little to entice people who didn't buy it at launch. That is exactly what Sony and Microsoft failed to do this year actually. It was a show for the current owners, not to get new owners. 2013 was a disaster for MS. Everything they said upset gamers. then Sony comes along and says almost the exact opposite of everything MS said. People rode on that hype. If MS hadn't made a huge balls up, I don't think Nintendo would have been as successful.

This year Nintendo did it right. It spoke to the undecided and "on the fence" gamers and got them excited. There was a quote on the IGN after talk where one of the guys said "It's getting hard to ignore Wii U". I know so many people who were desperate to buy Wii U on the second day of E3 because of their presentation. The Sony and MS show didn't really have the same effect for the undecided and "on the fence" gamers.

Re: Poll: What Was Your Favourite PlayStation Game of E3 2014?

Trikeboy

Only one Playstation exclusive excited me, No Man's Sky. Multiplatform games like Batman, Mirrors Edge 2 and Assassin's Creed Unity were highlights. Nothing for Microsoft besides the previous multiplatform games. As for Nintendo, pretty much everything. Sony and Microsoft played it safe mostly and it backfired for both. I don't think they expected Nintendo to bring so much. Sony did have a better conference than Microsoft though.

Re: Share Your Resident Evil Memories to S.T.A.R. in an Upcoming Capcom Game

Trikeboy

Resident Evil 2, I borrowed it from my friend and got to the end of the game. I was there in the final battle with Birkin and I unloaded every piece of ammo I had into him. It wasn't enough, he kept standing and was coming for me. All I had left was my knife. Ready for death, I took out the knife expecting to have to re do the fight. I took one swing with the knife, hit Birkin and he died. I was so shocked and ecstatic that I watched the ending with the biggest smile on my face.

Re: Feature: Three Lessons PS4 Can Learn from Xbox One's Unveiling

Trikeboy

I agree that the PS4 reveal was good, and definitely much better than Xbox One, it is just that the thing I look for when upgrading my current hardware is games. There were a lot of games in the presentation that were meh, and some that genuinely interested me like Watch_Dogs. Then the news came out that the games I thought looked amazing were coming out on hardware I already own. Why buy a new system if I can get them for a machine I already own. I will say that I am far more interested in Sony than Microsoft at this time.

@Sutorcen You are very right that Microsoft only catered to the American audience in the presentation. I wonder how many of those features will be available to the world wide audience. Honestly, the three horse race that is Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft will probably become a two horse race with only Sony and Nintendo still competing.

Re: Feature: Three Lessons PS4 Can Learn from Xbox One's Unveiling

Trikeboy

@TheRealBatman Wow, that just reeks of fanboyism.

1. PS4 has lots of work to do at E3 before I decide to upgrade my PS3. It is a nice looking machine but I saw nothing during the reveal that makes me want to upgrade. All of the games that interested me were either coming out on PS3 or Wii U. Why should I spend yet another £300 when I can spend £40 to play on a system I already own?

2. Nintendo have clamped down on making money on Lets Play videos because people are making money on their IPs. Nintendo has every right to claim money from that. They own the IP, they get to have a say in how they are used. They are fine with people not making money off of them. Other companies have flat out banned Lets Play videos, Nintendo are actually being fairly decent about it.

3. Nintendo will be at E3, they will just not do a big flashy presentation. The games will be on the show floor for attendees to play.

Re: Feature: Three Lessons PS4 Can Learn from Xbox One's Unveiling

Trikeboy

Wii U, PS4 and Xbox One have a lot to prove at this years E3. There is ambiguity on the features of the console and they are things that could lead a gamer to not want the console such as games and second hand games. Wii U has to prove that the games are coming, Xbox One has to prove the games even exist and PS4 has to prove that the console will actually be worth buying.

Re: Talking Point: How Has Xbox One's Reveal Affected Your Anticipation for PS4?

Trikeboy

I own a Wii U, PS3 and a high end PC. I don't need Xbox One so no, I won't be getting it. I was unimpressed by both PS4 and Xbox One reveals but at least Sony showed games. Sorry guys but "Next Gen" sucks. They have realised that they can't get by saying it will have better graphics anymore because there really isn't much more they can improve. They fell back on other things to make buying the machine worth buying and they are features that most will probably never use.

Re: Bungie Confirms That Destiny Will Be Fulfilled on PlayStation 4

Trikeboy

@rjejr I did watch it but this is a thread for the game, not the PS4. Nothing you said has any impact on my original post. I don't care about graphics and didn't even say anything about graphics. My point is simply that if I want to play the game, why would I invest in new hardware when the game is coming out on hardware I already own. You would pay hundreds of bucks so people can watch you play a game? Isn't that what video capture devices are for? They come in relatively cheap too.

Re: Feature: Here's Every PlayStation 4 Game We Know About

Trikeboy

"Killzone: Shadow Fall
The unchallenged star of the last night’s press conference"

You mean that generic looking, boring fps that I lost interest in playing half way through the video? Most are also multi platform. The only game that caught my interest was The Witness.

Props go to new IP Deep Down but I will need to see game play first.

Re: Sony Officially Reveals the PS4, Launching Holiday 2013

Trikeboy

nothing I saw would make me an early adopter of the PS4. The only game that looked interesting was The Witness. Killzone was so boring I lost interest in watching it. The rest of the game reveals were boring sequels or multi platform games. If a PS4 game is also available on the PS3 and/or other systems what is my incentive for buying a PS4? Watch_Dogs is out on PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U and PC. I did like the look of it. However, why would I need to buy new hardware to play the game if there is only cosmetic differences?

Re: Live: Watch The PlayStation 2013 Meeting Right Here

Trikeboy

So, graphics and power then? It will be a super charged PS3 which was in all essence a super charged PS2 which was in all essence a supercharged PS.

4K would be nice but how many people out there have a display that can do that resolution justice? If developers haven't got the best out of the PS3 by now, I doubt they will be able to get the best out of the PS4 just by better processors.

I totally agree on the cloud thing. I love Plus and have downloaded and played many games that I wouldn't have paid full price for. It is a great service that I'm glad I paid for.

Well, this is all speculation but I would be surprised if the PS4 is radically different from what we already have from them.

Re: Opinion: Why The Last Guardian Will Be a PlayStation 4 Game

Trikeboy

Delaying a game for a new format has worked wonders before. However, it will be a PS3 game ported to the PS4. Nintendo delayed Twilight Princess and added in motion controls so it could be a launch title. A Zelda game at the launch of the Wii got lots of attention from rabid fans (like me). PS3 or PS4, this game looks really good.
