This site is rapidly losing credibility as it publishes all these gushing, uncritical PS5 Pro articles day in and day out. This isn't even a news article, you're just regurgitating what's on the PS Blog.
I've always been in the minority here, but I've never liked Digital Foundry. They've always put graphics over gameplay and their breathless praise of the PS5 Pro is kinda shame. They're like the audiophiles of the gaming world, tripping over themselves to spend thousands of dollars to get barely noticeable improvements and expect everyone else to do the same.
When I heard Kingdom Hearts and FFXV writer Kazushige Nojima was in charge, I noped out pretty quick. When you add developer FURYU on top of that, you've got all the ingredients for Worst Game of the Year contender.
This is where modern gaming is now. Ubisoft going all in on Assassin's Creed, EA going all in on Battlefield, Activision going all in on Call of Duty, PlayStation going all in on The Last of Us and Horizon. Epic gave up making games years ago to milk Fortnite. It's all about liveservice games and mega franchises now.
Just a reminder: the FTC filed another case against Microsoft trying to retroactively stop the Activision-Blizzard deal. This second attempt seems like a slam dunk right now.
Too many people are looking at this in a vacuum. Earlier this year Pixelopus was shut down and a few years ago Japan Studio was shut down too. Looking at these moves together, it's clear Sony isn't interested in these smaller scale, more unique games anymore and only want giant, big-budget AAA games.
I'm baffled by the people defending this showcase. There were some decent games, sure, but most of it is coming to other consoles and PC. Most of these games are indies. We didn't see anything that justifies the existence of the PS5, and we certainly didn't see anything resembling a plan from PlayStation. That's what this is, a PlayStation Showcase, not a "here are some random indie games" showcase.
Nothing from Naughty Dog, Santa Monica, Bend, Sucker Punch, or London Studios. Add that to the sudden closure of PixelOpus a few days ago (not to mention the closure of Japan Studio two years ago) and the announcement that they're going to spend 60% of their budget on live service games, I have to assume there are some major fires raging behind closed doors at PlayStation.
It was a complete disaster. Nothing from about Factions, Cory Barlog's game, Ghost of Tsushima 2, mostly PC games getting ported to PC and lame indie games, no release date for Spider-Man 2 (which means it's getting delayed to next year), the trailer for MGS3 remake was super lame and didn't even say who's developing it. The Haven game looks boring and Square Enix's Splatoon/Fortnite rip off looks god awful.
I've upgraded my PC and have it hooked up to my TV. If Sony starts releasing their games on PC, I have literally zero reason to buy a PS5. I was previously excited to buy one, but this announcement kills my hype. Sony's really shot themselves in the dick with this movie.

Sony just aren't interested in niche games like Sly Cooper anymore, sadly.

@Ocelot The original Ghost Recon games were tactical first-person shooters.

You either die a hero or live long enough to make live service games.
Re: Star Wars Outlaws Looks Legitimately Mind Blowing in Huge PS5 Gameplay Demo
You must have watched a different trailer than me, because what I saw was a generic looking modern action game with annoying dialog.
