Sony, thus far, has proven that they see PS5 as the throw away gen for their first party support. Sure, they've released some stuff, but nothing that's been a must have for me. Every time they have an opportunity to get some excitement going, they don't bother showing anything of interest.
I sincerely hope the path their on changes for the better.
I had a glitched PS1 copy back in the day that wouldn't let me continue to disc 2. For me, I was finally getting the continuation of the story.
After 20 years, spoilers of the original were known so I expected what came, but the explanation on exactly what was changed as far as fates go is a bit confusing. I'm hoping for clarification on the finale.... some time in 2027.
@TheAmbienWalrus I actually just completed FF7 Rebirth. Took me about 2 months to find the 55 hours it took to beat it, having skipped the majority of side quests.
Finally some news on this. Honestly thought they had canned the series with the way everything was shifting.
It's fine that it's open world so long as they do it right. It's fine that it's in India so long as they don't simply try to emulate Uncharted Lost Legacy. I look forward to seeing an actual announcement and trailer.
@TheAmbienWalrus The good ones do release, but what we consider good or at least worth our time and money is very different. I have less time then ever anymore so it's fine that Sony studios have made PS5 the "throw away generation".
I miss titles like Warhawk (PS3), Twisted Metal, Jet Moto, Destruction Derby, and many others.
What's been announced that I'm looking forward too? Mass Effect 5, new Tomb Raider, Instinction, Witcher 4, FF7 Remake Part 3.
Playstation studios haven't even announced anything I'm interested in. It's a very strange switch after four generations consistently providing anticipation.
@Blackjay Bad apples ruin it for others because they're narcissists that don't care what their actions cause. I see it as, can't make everyone happy, but should definitely not make man children happy. Refuse to comply with these ridiculous people.
Thank God I don't play games as much anymore because what made me a gamer is releasing at a snail's pace. To many great series are left for dead or may as well be. To much emphasis on online competitive games. Development times have skyrocketed to the point that what I'm looking forward to will probably be PS6 titles.
PS5 very much feels like the "Greatness Happened Prior to Now System".
So many in the modern era never mentally grew up. They find like-minded people on the internet and form coalitions to stage some kind of protest. The protest is often over something incredibly petty and this is one of those times. They're essentially toddlers in a toy isle screaming at their mommy that they want a toy.
@mrbone $70 is justified but as gaming is a luxury, and the world economy is in shambles, the vast majority can't afford it and won't purchase at that price. For me, I'm stubborn as hell and remember the $50 PS1 and PS2 game days like it was last week. Then given my lack of free time, I generally buy only 3 games a year and don't have time to play each of them.
@AhabSpampurse I did see they eventually patched that in which I was thankful for, but it didn't launch with 3rd person. I'm hoping the gold edition gets a physical release.
Not a fan of the 1st person take the series went. I still haven't bothered playing RE8 and it feels odd as RE used to be my favorite series.
Currently replaying RE5 (PS4) and having a blast. I will say that as good as the graphics were in 2009, it would seem even RE5 could use a graphical update.
I think the shocking news to me in this article is the 7 years of development time. It now takes an entire console lifespan to create one game. 😐
@KaijuKaiser "Pieces of crap" because they shine the spotlight on the subversion, perversion and indoctrination that are posted with pride by the original individuals themselves? They're simply providing more reach for those individuals than they expected. You should be thanking them.
@Pat_trick You must have missed the part where I put, "I don't agree with everything Musk does."
To put it plainly, it was obvious no one else had a care in the world to uphold free speech for conservatives... and no... a majority of conservatives don't care if actual racists get moderated for being racist. It was EVERY platform deleting and censoring conservative thoughts and arguments from their platforms ensuring only one side was heard so that's what people thought everyone agreed with. It was the overreach of governments colluding with tech companies to "Other" a specific group.
Frankly, no one else had the care, ability, or both to stop them. So yeah, I'll high five Musk for ripping Twitter away from the real fascists.
@johncalmc We haven't gotten to that point. Zuckerberg is just a different option and frankly, is only a good option if you prefer governments (they're hand in hand with tech) telling you what you can say.
Interesting how standing up for free speech is controversial these days. I don't agree with everything Musk does, but ripping a massive platform away from digital tyranny, I'll applaud.
Before some of you get your knickers in a twist, I don't condone bullying. That includes racist remarks as well as shouting down and forcing ideologies on the masses. When something like hate speech isn't given a proper definition and commonly used words (and pronouns) can be flipped on a dime to become hate speech on some random person's whim... that's tyranny... leaving the masses in fear that they may say something wrong. It comes with real world consequences like losing your job because you disagree with someone on the internet. That's Marxism for you though.
I enjoyed playing this a few years ago. I might give it a go before it's shut down for good.
Pretty sure they added a single player portion as well. While not as engaging, I expect this would still be accessible after the servers shut down, right?
Rockstar is creatively bankrupt. This is no surprise that they're looking at RDR (PS3) being one of their only releases for the PS5 generation. It'll be this and GTA6. They'll have nothing else.
Hogwarts and Star Wars are on my list, but I haven't played them yet. Going to go with Sonic Origins Plus as it's the only PS5 game I've purchased this year.
@Amnesiac As an example, I'm more into Mortal Kombat. The 11th game released in April 2019. I didn't buy it until December last year when the Komplete version was on sale for half off. So 3.5 years or more is what I waited.
I appreciate Capcom continuing to display why most consumers should wait for a complete edition of fighting games or at least severe price drops to make up the difference.
Why not use those resources to work on the main projects to get them done quicker? Using the excuse of focus doesn't make much sense here. Still, glad to hear they are dropping other projects... they simply don't need to drop the resources.
1. The Game Gear and Master System versions of Sonic released in the same months as each other, meaning they were developed at the same time.
2. The Game Gear games included play identically to their Game Gear versions on the PS5. That includes their faults like the mono audio not sounding fantastic in stereo and the zoomed in aspect ratio. There were only so many pixels to work with.
Personally, I'm happy they put in the Game Gear versions instead of the Master System. Whenever you saw advertisements for these games in N. America, they almost never mentioned the Master System. Thus, it was either Genesis or Game Gear here.
Anyone that's been paying attention since before the first Xbox even released knew this is what MS was going for in the industry. Simply buy out the talent because they have none of their own.
I honestly hope this email is the final nail in the coffin of the buyout. Not because I care about anything Activision does, but because they and other large conglomerates need a solid gut punch every now and again.

Re: PS Plus Revenue Is on the Up Following 2022's Multi-Tiered Overhaul
Yeah. We all know why the revenue is up. I stacked my sub through next year before the price hike. Not sure I'm going to reup again.
Re: Jurassic World Management Sim Under Construction at Frontier Developments
I never enjoyed the park sim JP/JW games but the genre obviously fits the IP very well.
I'm looking forward more to Instinction, assuming it's not vaporware.
Re: Next Battlefield Is Being Made By the Series' Largest Ever Team, EA Boasts
I'd be interested in a well done Bad Company 3.

Re: Helldivers 2 Blasted with Over 200,000 Positive User Reviews Following Sony's PSN Backtrack
Interesting. Sony decided to be spineless like so many in the world today. They've lost some respect from me.
At least it doesn't impact anything important.

Honestly, this is probably the best studio to do a Bond game. It's essentially Hitman, but the main character wouldn't have shaved his head.

@Zemo55 @AgentCooper — I didn't know that. I may just end up buying the PS1 game for an HD replay then. Appreciate the info.
Re: Anticipated Mortal Kombat 1 PS5 Reveals in Kombat Kast Livestream This Week
I think the only character left I'd enjoy seeing return is a ninja version of Reptile.

I'd consider this for the HD version of MGS (PS1), but I can't justify full price to play one game in the collection. I'm just not that big a fan.

A couple points here.
