Re: Talking Point: Would You Care About a PS5 Remote Play Handheld?

amersga

@SuntannedDuck2 Those are all good points.
I think what I'm suggesting is that this new portable console isn't just for remote play but also semi-functions as a console by itself, with a bare or limited version of the PS5/PS4 hardware. Therefore, it would have the capacity to run whatever the limited storage capacity would hold.
Imagine a portable PS5 that has enough room for a game or two to play on the go, and a robust Remote Play option when you're connected to a solid wifi connection.

Re: Random: Fans Are Having Fun Imagining What a PS5 Remote Play Handheld Might Look Like

Sony if you haven't considered this please LISTEN:

The only way you are going to make this product stick - above and beyond what is already offered for remote play - is by giving it its own internal SSD that can download at least a few games from one's Playstation collection of games. This would allow offline play for PS4 and PS5 games!

If you can DO THAT... then it might just be the game changer in the Remote Play market

Re: Kojima Would Have Had to Rewrite Death Stranding 2 if Elle Fanning Refused the Role

amersga

Grimwood's remark might not be that far off the mark.
Having written for the screen space for over a decade, and having seen how a video game script closely resembles a screenplay in its focus on dialogue and action description, there is nothing particular that an actor brings that can (or should) be detailed in a written work.
As a newbie in film school, I often remember a student would say they are writing such and such part for an actor in mind, but then when it came to how that translated into the actual work, the only anecdote they could give is, "then they would say this line like this..." Well, none of that translates across a script that any actor would read. So it's hard to imagine a script having to be rewritten if a said actor wasn't involved. Therefore, it does feel a bit pretentious, like something amateur filmmakers and writers frequently say when talking about a script.
Of course it's possible that Kojima writes scripts unlike anyone has ever read and somehow has found a way to detail a specific actor's nuances into a script, but then as a creative I'd argue that doesn't really give an actor the ability for creative input.

Re: The Witcher 3 Next-Gen Update Will Finally Be Shown Tomorrow

I'm really looking forward to this.

On a separate note, does anyone know if there is a way to save PS5 data and upload it to GOG or Steam so you can import it through the Switch version of the game? I was thinking it would be amazing to be able to play the game on the PS5 and then follow the progress on-the-go with the Switch version (although that sounds highly unlikely)!

Re: Poll: Do You Care About PlayStation TV Shows?

amersga

@nessisonett I think if these shows are going to resonate with hardcore fans of the games and not be immediately blown off, they have a multitude of points that they can’t fudge including but not limited to: budget, casting, props, and naturally great writing.

I’ve always wondered who might play these pivotal Main Character roles, and I think getting the right actor is incredibly crucial. Like you said regarding the cosplay: if they try to go too obvious like a bad superhero costume rendition (read: too literal an interpretation of the game), it’ll come off laughable. They really need a solid team of creatives on all creative levels to make this work! đŸ‘đŸ€”

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Returnal's Ascension Update?

amersga

For those of you who are new(er) to Returnal, or are coming back after a bit of a hiatus, this new Tower of Sisyphus mode is the PERFECT way to get better at Returnal fast!

This mode will give you a taste of enemies that you won't face until the main game's mission in Biomes 3-5. This will give you a chance to learn their maneuvers and how to counter them. If you're having a hell of a time trying to get through biomes 3-5, try this new mode, and I guarantee that if you give into the highly addictive arcade replay-ability, you'll become a Returnal pro much faster than the traditional route.

(Note: This only applies to those who have defeated Ixion from Biome 2 - which gives you the grapple tool, which is the minimum requirement you'll need to start playing the new Tower of Sisyphus.)
For those still struggling to beat Ixion: watch YT videos on folks beating him. Make sure you complete every room in Biome 1 and 2, to max your health stats, consumables, and weapons.

Re: Returnal's Free Ascension Update Out on PS5 Now

amersga

@The_Pixel_King It’s a tough game, no doubt, but it really comes down to practice. There was a point where I was getting so frustrated and angry, and was considering quitting. For me, what changed everything was changing my mindset about playing “seriously” (for keeps) and just trying to enjoy all that the game does. This allowed my runs to change to experimenting with various methods of attack on different enemies, which, once you learn how an enemy responds to your presence, gives you the upper hand in taking them out. My motto changed from, “how do I get to the next biome?” To one of curiosity “what if I do this
try this?” This also made me more aggressive because I was no longer focused so much on dying but just learning and through that, I got better and (eventually) got the Platinum.
My best advice for the first boss Phrike is to watch some YT videos on folks beating him. Watch and study his patterns. Just like all the enemies: once you learn how they attack and respond to you, you’ll kick their ass.
Second, get to the point where you’ve explored every area of biome 1 before hitting him. The more power ups you have, the better weapons, the more life, the better chance you fair if you take significant damage from him. Again, even if you don’t succeed in taking Phrike out the first time, you’ll be that much smarter and better off the next time.
You can do it!! 👌

Re: Sifu (PS5) - Kung Fu Brawler Is Brutal But Brilliant

amersga

@ShogunRok Does the game’s high learning-curve, overall difficulty, and rewarding victories remind you at all of Returnal? That was a game that reminds me a lot of how this game is described, but I ended up sticking with it and because I did, it quickly became one of my all-time favorites!
Can you speak to that comparison at all?

Re: Not Everyone Had the Fortitude to Finish Returnal on PS5

amersga

The learning curve is pretty high in Returnal. Having to start over again just to run through the same scenarios over and over again (even though they change every time you die, you eventually see the same ones) to make it to the boss only to die, is a bit exhausting.
I wonder how this game did in sales? It makes me wonder if having difficulty settings might have made the game a bit more accessible and therefore a better seller

Re: A Plague Tale: Requiem Infests PS5 with New Story Trailer

amersga

There's a haunting quality about this new trailer...

It perfectly encapsulates the feel of the first game, if not driving it even further.
What resonates so deeply with me from the first game is the beautiful story between Amicia and her younger brother Hugo. Here's a girl whose innocence has been shattered by an unspeakable act of violence, one after another. She then has to grow up, enough to be a shield against the harsh evils, for her little brother. There's something about that, witnessing (as a player) a character having to undergo a cruel, cruel world that brings out a deep level of sympathy. It's a genius narrative touch, really.
Watching how the past has clearly influenced the presence and seeing that register on Amicia's face is heart rending.
It feels a lot like how people describe a car wreck: you're powerless to look away, and likewise, I feel powerless to not be involved again in Amicia and Hugo's new nightmare.
