This game is going to go down as a cult classic. it's better than some people think it is, while also not being as good as other people think it is lol. i really like it, but for weird reasons like the mechanic where you have to remember to keep your bike gassed up, and you have to repair it from time to time. for some reason i find those mechanics very compelling.
one day, someone is going to make one of these games and have enough sense to simply include an easier mode (probably just more bonfires if nothing else). the "git gud" crowd will go nuts, but the game would VASTLY outsell the average numbers Soulsborne games usually do. These games have amazing universes and lore, but a lot of people are intimidated by the difficulty. i love these games, but because i suck i RARELY buy them.
i just don't believe that that many people are basing their decision on what some disinterested GameStop employee has to say. of course there will always be that odd "which one is better?" parent or grandparent, but for the most part, people know what they're there for when they walk in...
i still have a feeling that Sony is waiting to announce their answer to Game Pass pretty soon. just a feeling. it won't be the exact same thing, as their exclusives are far more central to their success, but Sony has to respond in SOME way.
@Stocksy Here's the difference: many people prefer PES to FIFA. if EA had their way, PES wouldn't exist. EA has no choice but to at least TRY TO MAKE FIFA better. Live isn't great, but if EA had their way (and they TRIED), NBA 2k wouldn't exist. if EA wants to get back into the basketball video game business, they would have to actually like...try to make a good game (which might explain why they aren't really making LIVE?). having a choice is ALWAYS better. the people who make Madden will just laugh as long as the drones just buy Madden anyway.
@Stocksy Competition is EXACTLY what EA and 2K need. While NBA 2K as a GAME is still excellent, not having another company making a competing product has definitely led them down a bad road as well. EA is just the WORST lol.
i don't understand why anyone is upset about this. i'll let you in on a little secret: if they could, Sony would put their games on the Xbox too. they would sell them to Switch owners, too. the PC market is still the largest segment of gamers in the world, and Microsoft is already perfectly fine with selling games to people wherever they are. Sony has always been a little more cautious, and is dipping their toe in as well. Nintendo will do the same, but much later, once they're CERTAIN there's a market there. the "You have to buy a $500 box to play our games" market is going to start shrinking more and more over the next few years. as long as we have great games to play, do you REALLY care?

....Sega didn't realize that lots of people would want to play Persona and other games from their massive back catalog outside of Sony fans? i love Sega, i truly am a huge fan, but MY GOD the way they do business lol
@Exlee300p well no of course not, it's much more likely to be a collection of legacy Playstation games (ps1-4), featuring especially rare games. Sony has such an unbelievably deep back catalog that being able to play the dozens of games you missed would be a good value.

Hell, they probably will announce changes to PS Now which will make it much more akin to Game Pass. 10 million subscribers is a lot, but Sony is probably aware it would have more, with a similar service dedicated to legacy Playstation games.
It's nearly August. We don't know how much it's going to cost, when we can preorder, what games it's launching with, or when it releases. Just like Microsoft, we've gotten little more than a ton of trailers, a little gameplay, and a bunch of "wait and see". This this is launching (probably? i don't know) in 3 MONTHS. the next event needs to be informative and SOON. there are going to be a lot of pissed off people if they wait much longer AND make it impossible to find a ps5 at launch...whenever that is.

As long as the same people complaining about the game keep mindlessly buying the game, absolutely nothing will change. guess what? Madden 22 is going to be the same way. and guess what? it'll sell a ton, because Madden fans seem to think they HAVE to buy it. Only when sales numbers start to decline will EA actually give a crap what the gamers say. I always smile, because i was an NFL 2K fan, and i still remember the idiot Madden fans celebrating when they bought off the NFL. Congrats, winners!
My only concern is whether they are trying to build up anticipation, OR is there a problem? honestly, I've found Microsoft's approach more frustrating (here's the machine, yaaaay! huh? oh, no we're not going to show any actual gameplay until July. byeeee!)
