Re: Actually, PS4 Had the Most Great Games This Year

daveh30

@get2sammyb Fail is right... From the headline on out, you've changed the argument. "Actually, PS4 had the most great games this year" Sorry, no one was talking about this year. Nintendo was talking about games available on the Nintendo platforms ... you aren't even in the same discussion, and using a different data set say they're wrong. Maybe you need a reading comprehension course?

Re: Talking Point: Is This Gaming's Most Disappointing Ever Year?

daveh30

outside of Nintendo published titles, it really seems like developers and publishers have no problem releasing unfinished, buggy software, knowing games will sell based on franchise or hype and relying on post release patches to get the games where they should have been before they were ever released. Its not a good sign. There has been some great games released this year, but theres also been a seemingly higher than usual amount of unplayable, broken crap.

Re: Poll: Are You in Tune with the PlayStation TV?

daveh30

I like the idea in theory, but given my Vita experiences, I don't think I'll be taking the plunge. I would mostly want one for streaming PS4 to my bedroom tv, but I've found remote play on the Vita to be spotty at best. Sitting in my living room, 10 feet from the console, I can't get a good enough connection between the 2 to do anything beyond browsing menus. Actually gameplay is out of the question. Beyond that I have no use for one...

Re: Review: Surgeon Simulator: Anniversary Edition (PlayStation 4)

daveh30

@BenTarrant Then why not say that? instead of calling it out on accessibility, you call the controls "unforgivable". Makes more sense to compare it to something like Octodad... the physical comedy that results from awkward controls in a physics puzzle type environment is basically the point of the game.

I'm not arguing the score, I wouldn't give it much higher, but calling it out on 'unforgivable' controls is not doing the game justice by any means...

@naruball lol, i don't like jrpgs, or Soul Sacrifice, so my taste is 'quite limited'?

i dunno, i don't have many friends who own a vita, but the ones who do and will argue that his a great library are the couple of guys i know who love jrpgs. The rest us of, we've played what we're interested in, and we wait. For some of us thats more than others (i will play stuff i normally otherwise wouldn't just for trophies... its starting to border on addiction, really.) For me, personally, i'm up to date it on Vita. Never felt that way on any other system. Truth be told, it makes me miss the pre-download days. felt like there was always something new to find... now, with everything easily available without leaving the couch, i know theres nothing new to find. That feeling of coming across some hidden gem in a bargain bin at a used game store just isnt there now. sigh All you can do now is wait for the new download list every tuesday and hope....

(although we do get Minecraft this month! that will suck me back in and devour a huge chunk of my life. just hoping for a new/ different trophy list from the PS3 version...)

Re: Reckon the PS Vita's Got No Game? This Three Hour Video Will Prove You Wrong

@naruball Its not a matter of 'missing' games... they're all listed right there in the psn store. if you're missing games, you aren't looking. I'm to the point where I've probably spent more time on the PSN store, going through and looking up reviews for literally every title on there, in order, to make sure I don't miss something that might interest me, than I have playing games on the thing. Soul Sacrifice I Platinumed in about 60ish hours. I played that solely for the trophies (it was free or dirt cheap at some point on PS+...) not my kinda thing at all. Rayman was about a week to Plat.

@N711 I wouldn't say I'm bulimic with games. If anything I'm a binger. I'm a 100%er, and a trophy whore, but once I've platinumed a game I'm not gonna replay it, unless there's some new DLC or somthing. The difference with the vita and the PS4, or even the Wii U is just the size of the games. There's nothing the scope of Watch Dogs, AC4, or even the Mario games, that's gonna take that amount of time to 100%. There's nothing like Mario Kart 7 or 8 that's gonna keep me coming back. There's a couple kart racers, but they pale against MK. Once I got the trophies in Ben10 racing and Mod Racers, they both got deleted and it s back to mk7 for on the go racing. They only 'big' games you could say I'm skipping are jrpgs. Don't like em . But I've never had to resort to those to stay busy on any other system either.
Yes if You're gonna buy a vita today, there's a lot of good games to play. I bought mine about 18 months ago, and those games have dried up.

If someone would just release a half decent hockey game on it, I'd never put it down.... Sigh. I'd gladly take even a PSone classic.

Re: Reckon the PS Vita's Got No Game? This Three Hour Video Will Prove You Wrong

I am one of the folks who will say that the Vita has no games... allow me to clarify. I do not mean that the Vita literally has no games available, that would just be silly, there are lots of games available. What I mean is, the vita is the only system I've ever owned where i have been able to play literally everything I have any interest in, plus a lot more that really didn't interest me just because it was free/dirt cheap with PS plus, and be sitting around waiting for more to be released. And I'm not the type to automatically dismiss a game because its indie or download only, some of my favorites have been indie titles.... doesn't change the fact that they aren't coming out as fast as I can play 'em. Since i don't generally replay games (unless I really enjoyed it, and its required for a platinum) my vita sees a lot more shelf time than any of my other systems. Honestly, I love the system, and it would most often be my go-to choice to play a game on given the option, but theres just not enough new stuff. I've got backlogs for days for half a dozen other systems and consoles. Not the Vita. It's all up to date.

The Vita PSN store has become like my fridge when I'm looking for a snack at 2am. I know theres nothing new in there, but I gotta look every 5 minutes anyway... and i'm always just a little disappointed.

Re: There's a Lacrosse Game Coming to the PlayStation 4

daveh30

lacrosse is a very fast paced sport, perfectly suited to video games. makes more sense than a lot of other sports they make games for... like baseball, or basketball, or yawn soccer. Box lacrosse is MUCH better than field lacrosse, but its a start.

Re: E3 2014: A Staggering Number of Xbox Fans Have Converted to PS4, Says Sony

daveh30

last gen i started out with a Wii & 360. i got sick of getting 360's replaced/ repaired after the 3rd RROD in a year and went with the PS3. upgraded my Wii to the U and PS3 to the 4.... done with MS. If i had to choose one, Nintendo always comes first. In fact, if Nintendo ceased to exist, i'd give up video games completely. Sony consoles are just to keep me occupied between big Nintendo releases...

Re: Could You Be Getting Two Free PS4 Titles Next Month?

daveh30

Already played KZ and wasn't a fan, so I hope its not that one. Knack I've actually been wanting to play, but I've been a little trigger shy on buying that one... partially because of the bad reviews, mostly because I do believe it will be on PS+ eventually.
