Re: PS5 Games Won't Support PSVR, Says Sony

@ThaBEN oh dear. How will life go on? How will anyone be able to deal with this travesty? Surely one of the worst hardships ever inflicted upon humankind. Having to have 2 of the same game installed especially when there's only a handful of them. We might as well all give up now.

Re: PS5 UI Reveal Reels in 7 Million Views, Trends Top of YouTube

For not one second have I understood the undeserved panic surrounding the ps5 launch. Since when did it become the norm to reveal every aspect of the product prior to launch? Especially now when a firmware update can introduce (or render obsolete) features.

Personally I want a bit of mystery when I buy a new console. It's fun to explore and discover things for yourself rather than everything explained.

Re: Poll: What Do You Think of the PS5 UI?

hi_drnick

@GADG3Tx87 it looks nothing at all like the xbox UI. if anything, it looks like they've iterated on the ps4 UI which iterated on the ps3 UI and actually has roots in the Japan only psx and Sony tvs of that era.

@carlos82 I worked in a game store back in the late 90s and a surprisingly large number of people needed to be walked through the differences between PlayStation, N64 and the Dreamcast. Maybe general awareness of consoles is higher now compared to then but I think there are still plenty of first time buyers, lapsed gamers, parents, relatives and even spouses who would need an assist. Case in point, my wife enjoys games and has been with me since the PS2 era doesn't really know (or care) about the differences between PlayStation and Xbox and I'm sure she'd need some help if she were to buy something for me in a game shop.

@Ken_Kaniff yo man, what's up with the negativity? Almost every post you make it's doom and gloom. Cheer up dude. Your hobby is gaming, derived from the word game. Games are supposed to be fun.

@S1ayeR74 take a chill pill, bro. Where did I deny anything about the sales numbers of the DS or the PS3 nearly destroying PlayStation (which is so far off the mark I won't even bother to deny). I'm sticking to my guns on the PSP bud. It was a massive success. To say it wasn't because the DS range sold a lot more is downright ignorant. Look at any other handheld that has been positioned against any Nintendo handheld. None of them even matched the PSVITA's sale figures let alone the PSP. Let me say again, 10th best selling console of all time. That is significant. You never hear anyone say the NES or SNES were sales failures but it did better than both of them. By your logic, anything that doesn't dethrone the PS2 is a failure and that is a fact you can't deny.

@S1ayeR74 cool story, bro. The PSP flopped? It's the 10th best selling console ever with over 80 million units sold. It has sold more than the Switch (at present), the NES, the SNES, Genesis and original XBOX. If you consider that a flop, you need a new narrative. And sure, the PS3 didn't do well at first but changes were made and it ended up a success which sorta renders your point moot.

And as stated, for pessimistic types like yourself I listed the PSVITA as a dud even though I enjoy mine to this day.

Thanks though your specific yet flawed take on gaming history.

@Xiaolin so what's your solution? Live as a hermit? Move underground? Join a witch's coven?
If you're that anti-establishment, why buy anything at all? How are you even on the internet? They're out to get you, doncha know?!

In all seriousness, I'll only buy a ps5 if it's good but what are the chances it's not? What is Sony's track record with PlayStation? PSOne - good, PS2 - good, PSP - good, PS3 - good (yes, it had a bad start but it turned out fine), PS4 - good, PSVR - yes, it's been a success.

Duds? PSX (didn't make it out of Japan but was a cool idea), PSP GO (a flop but it was a trial run of sorts), PSVITA (I love mine but I'm going to assume you think it was the worst).

That's a pretty impressive track record (go on then, add the PSTV and PS1 Classic to the duds, I know you want to) and enough evidence for me not to worry about if the PS5 will be good or not. But as stated above, I won't buy one if it doesn't match expectations just like I didn't buy any of the duds above (except for the VITA, which I love).
