Re: Hot Wheels Unleashed (PS5) - Fun Toy Car Racer Makes the Most of Its Licence

So, it's as good as Kena: Bridge of Spirits

On a serious note, driving physics were my main concern but based on review it sounds good. Lack of track variation/uniqueness and scenery being a bit superfluous is a bit disappointing.

I'll probably wait this one out for a PSN sale - Christmas maybe. Sounds like it should be fun to play with my kids though...

Keep getting close to buying Immortals Fenyx Rising on PS5 but then think it's probably best to wait and avoid a backlog, especially with Kena due to arrive soon, Jett looking interesting + lots of stuff in 2022 including what I'm really waiting for - GT7 (already have R&C, SW Jedi: Fallen Order, Tony Hawks 1&2, Sackboy, Wreckfest, WRC9 - should have waited for WRC10! and a couple of others left to complete)

Re: This Is the PS5 SSD System Architect Mark Cerny Is Using

@theheadofabroom - cheers, yes, I had read similar stories online when doing a bit more research.

Personally, I will probably go either Samsung, Sabrent or WD.

It will be interesting to see what this does to the NVME market as a whole. I've already got 2 in my main PC but quite 'old' / PCIe 3.0 (Corsair MP510 and some SK hynix PC601 thing that I got issued by my employers).

Re: This Is the PS5 SSD System Architect Mark Cerny Is Using

I'm just going to wait a bit and see what prices do - IF I get one, it will be 2TB.

At the moment, SN850 and others are £400+. You can get the Samsung 980 Pro and an easy to install heatsink for about £350.

There will be greater savings if you're ready at the right time - may even have to wait until Black Friday / Christmas sales...

Re: PES Renamed eFootball, Confirmed to Be Free-to-Play

At least DP7 is good!

For me, if there's no ML then I won't be downloading.

It was only with PES2021 that I managed to 'pursuade' my 10yr old that he should give it a proper go and he's loving it, also doing ML and occasional Euro tournament with me co-op offline. He's even been turning some of his friends who were only really aware of FIFA.

I really hope that a clarification comes soon for offline modes and option files - dont have much confidence when it's not there at launch and no clear indication when / to what extent it will allow modification...

Re: Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart PS5 Size Isn't So Bad

Those that have gone for pre-order - are you going standard or deluxe edition for the extra £10 (digital)? I'm assuming the armour sets, you eventually collect via playthrough, as with Raritanium. Soundtrack and artbook might be nice...

Five armour sets
Photo mode sticker pack
20 Raritanium*In-game upgrade materials
Digital soundtrack
Digital art book

Re: Next-Gen PSVR for PS5 Sounds Mind Blowing

mikeym

I'll probably stick to my PC for VR but could be tempted to get this to go with my PS5 if it can also be used without 3rd party software on the PC... Think it was Trinus I first used to experience VR on PC with my old PSVR headset...

Re: Official PlayStation Magazine UK Canned, PLAY Branding Resurrected

mikeym

Think I preferred Play to OPM before it disappeared. Have sub'd for the 5 copies and will enjoy casually sitting and reading some of the articles rather than looking at a screen. It's great having sites like Push Square (my favourite! ) and being able to watch footage via YT, etc. but I do miss flicking through a magazine.

Re: Wreckfest Will Charge You $10 for a PS5 Upgrade in June

mikeym

Sounds worth it and assume it won't be long until game+PS5 upgrade will be in a sale. Have it on PC since pre-ordering in 2013 and doing my bit (not a lot) to get the Steam Greenlight go-ahead at the time. It really is a great game. Also loved the 'original' Bugbear Flatout series, that got continued by others (not as good) Wreckfest being the spiritual successor.

Re: Mini Review: Monster Truck Championship (PS5) - An Enjoyable Simulator

mikeym

@jgrangervikings1 - console will have a bigger market for this I guess, but PC online multiplayer has been pretty much dead since day 1 unfortunately. I played it offline daily for a couple of weeks and thereafter a bit more sporadically. Had quite a few attempts at joining other randoms online during that time but only managed 2 races/events.

Re: Mini Review: Monster Truck Championship (PS5) - An Enjoyable Simulator

mikeym

@Hengist - thanks. I have a Steam Link (think that's what it is called) which I used for a while with TV in lounge. Haven't used that for a while though and not perfect if I recall. My PC is out in my 'office' (converted garage), so separate to the house. Means I have space for my sim rig (with wireless keyboard and mouse + VR) in the 'office' (do a lot of online racing with Assetto Corsa, RaceRoom, rFactor 2, Automobilista 2, etc). PS5 is in the lounge but generally don't get to play until the wife has gone to bed, so quite happy generally to play on PC, with xbox wireless controller if supported, on a 34" 3440x1440 Ultra Widescreen

Re: Monster Truck Championship Runs Over PS5 from 11th March

mikeym

I bought this game on PC (3440x1440@100Hz). Enjoyed it a lot but the support to feedback was slow and only resulted in one patch (I think).
The patch didn't seem to resolve my biggest niggle which was behaviour of the truck under power, when pulling off wheelies. it will often get stuck pointing up and putting it into reverse when balanced doesn't bring the nose down as it should. Otherwise a decent game but a bit shallow in terms of content and sadly not popular enough to be able to play online - I only ever managed to get an online match once I think! Maybe one to consider when on sale if launch price is similar to other new releases...

Re: Poll: Do You Have a PS5?

mikeym

I had pre-ordered early with ShopTo for my dad (that was a while after they were doing the pre-orders) and guess I was lucky to get one in the pre-order on Amazon for me.

I'm also trying to get a graphics card for my PC at a reasonable price - now that HAS been difficult!

Re: DIRT 5's Next Update Will Fix Bugged Out PS5 Trophies

mikeym

Lots of issues (framerates - particularly Gymkhana, regular crashes to PS5 main menu, lost progress once after save file corrupted and trophies)...

...however, even with all of that, I've had a lot of fun with this game. It can look great, variety of racing/vehicles is good, arcade handling is excellent. Hopefully the patch will solve everything - it's been a long time coming!
