On a serious note, driving physics were my main concern but based on review it sounds good. Lack of track variation/uniqueness and scenery being a bit superfluous is a bit disappointing.
I'll probably wait this one out for a PSN sale - Christmas maybe. Sounds like it should be fun to play with my kids though...
Is it known if you can buy/earn the 25th anniversary cars? I assume that is true for the cars but recall stealth liveries couldn't be bought/earned separately in past versions. Only one I'm really fussed about is the Castrol livery. Credit, other liveries and music - I'm not bothered about...
@TheRantingNinja - just checked myself, seems to be a trial? I was able to add it to my library though. Thought the trial was last weekend only? Might download and then unable to play...
Keep getting close to buying Immortals Fenyx Rising on PS5 but then think it's probably best to wait and avoid a backlog, especially with Kena due to arrive soon, Jett looking interesting + lots of stuff in 2022 including what I'm really waiting for - GT7 (already have R&C, SW Jedi: Fallen Order, Tony Hawks 1&2, Sackboy, Wreckfest, WRC9 - should have waited for WRC10! and a couple of others left to complete)
I have the base PS4 game that I got in a sale a little while back iirc. To play Director's Cut on PS5, do I only have to pay the extra £10 or whatever it is?! It's all getting very confusing for my aging brain!!!
@theheadofabroom - cheers, yes, I had read similar stories online when doing a bit more research.
Personally, I will probably go either Samsung, Sabrent or WD.
It will be interesting to see what this does to the NVME market as a whole. I've already got 2 in my main PC but quite 'old' / PCIe 3.0 (Corsair MP510 and some SK hynix PC601 thing that I got issued by my employers).
Happy for the time being with PES2021 / Data Pack 7.0 / PES Universe Option File 7B. Might have to be content with that and future OF updates for a while to come...
For me, if there's no ML then I won't be downloading.
It was only with PES2021 that I managed to 'pursuade' my 10yr old that he should give it a proper go and he's loving it, also doing ML and occasional Euro tournament with me co-op offline. He's even been turning some of his friends who were only really aware of FIFA.
I really hope that a clarification comes soon for offline modes and option files - dont have much confidence when it's not there at launch and no clear indication when / to what extent it will allow modification...
@Enigk - never knew about that (and other tricks I've now seen from googling!). I just remember us all trialling different ways to hold the controller to get the optimum finger speed!
Always liked a decent 'olympics' game. Could be fun with the kids - shame there's not 4 player local, only 2 player local and 4 online. I remember the good old days of PS1 and Konami International Track & Field, competing with mates after college, ahhh - fond memories!
Those that have gone for pre-order - are you going standard or deluxe edition for the extra £10 (digital)? I'm assuming the armour sets, you eventually collect via playthrough, as with Raritanium. Soundtrack and artbook might be nice...
Five armour sets Photo mode sticker pack 20 Raritanium*In-game upgrade materials Digital soundtrack Digital art book
Big dilemma - do I say sod it and spend £80 or wait it out for a sale? There are not many games I would ever consider spending that much on but this is one... I'm a big racing game fan, so GT7 would probably be the only other one and maybe an Uncharted game at a push.
I'll probably stick to my PC for VR but could be tempted to get this to go with my PS5 if it can also be used without 3rd party software on the PC... Think it was Trinus I first used to experience VR on PC with my old PSVR headset...
@Pi3rc3y just ran a few races. I played the PS4 version previously and also have it on PC running it at 100fps. PS5 version I played now is definitely 60fps.
Think I preferred Play to OPM before it disappeared. Have sub'd for the 5 copies and will enjoy casually sitting and reading some of the articles rather than looking at a screen. It's great having sites like Push Square (my favourite! ) and being able to watch footage via YT, etc. but I do miss flicking through a magazine.
This was already patched for 60fps wasn't it? I started to re-play it on PS5 but got distracted. Guess I'll wait to see how they have enhanced it further...
I had been deliberating what to get in the current sale. Finally made my choice, clicked purchase and obviously failed. Guess the down time is saving me money!
Got Gravel Special Edition to play on my PS5 @ 60fps as it was going for less than £5, albeit without HDR as that drops it to 30fps for some strange reason.
I'm getting into 'toy car' racing with Circuit Superstars (early access on PC, with later console release). This looks promising too - fingers crossed the handling is good - seems alright in the gameplay footage...
Sounds worth it and assume it won't be long until game+PS5 upgrade will be in a sale. Have it on PC since pre-ordering in 2013 and doing my bit (not a lot) to get the Steam Greenlight go-ahead at the time. It really is a great game. Also loved the 'original' Bugbear Flatout series, that got continued by others (not as good) Wreckfest being the spiritual successor.
@jgrangervikings1 - console will have a bigger market for this I guess, but PC online multiplayer has been pretty much dead since day 1 unfortunately. I played it offline daily for a couple of weeks and thereafter a bit more sporadically. Had quite a few attempts at joining other randoms online during that time but only managed 2 races/events.
@Hengist - thanks. I have a Steam Link (think that's what it is called) which I used for a while with TV in lounge. Haven't used that for a while though and not perfect if I recall. My PC is out in my 'office' (converted garage), so separate to the house. Means I have space for my sim rig (with wireless keyboard and mouse + VR) in the 'office' (do a lot of online racing with Assetto Corsa, RaceRoom, rFactor 2, Automobilista 2, etc). PS5 is in the lounge but generally don't get to play until the wife has gone to bed, so quite happy generally to play on PC, with xbox wireless controller if supported, on a 34" 3440x1440 Ultra Widescreen
I bought this game on PC (3440x1440@100Hz). Enjoyed it a lot but the support to feedback was slow and only resulted in one patch (I think).
The patch didn't seem to resolve my biggest niggle which was behaviour of the truck under power, when pulling off wheelies. it will often get stuck pointing up and putting it into reverse when balanced doesn't bring the nose down as it should. Otherwise a decent game but a bit shallow in terms of content and sadly not popular enough to be able to play online - I only ever managed to get an online match once I think! Maybe one to consider when on sale if launch price is similar to other new releases...
I had pre-ordered early with ShopTo for my dad (that was a while after they were doing the pre-orders) and guess I was lucky to get one in the pre-order on Amazon for me.
I'm also trying to get a graphics card for my PC at a reasonable price - now that HAS been difficult!
@LiamCroft - thanks, did some digging and, as you say, all should be good. Recommendation seems to be to download save from cloud before installing game to get it to work...
@TheLightSpirit - I agree with @ORO_ERICIUS , worth waiting for them to patch out the remaining issues. Hopefully next hotfix will do that. The game is a lot of fun - I'm playing it to the extent that I should hopefully be able to platinum it tonight...
Although PS5 trophy issues and game crashes seem to have stopped (as long as you haven't completed all career events) fps drops / stuttering seem to have gotten worse since the patch, in both Image Quality and Resolution modes. It's logged so hopefully next patch will bring this game to where it should be...
Lots of issues (framerates - particularly Gymkhana, regular crashes to PS5 main menu, lost progress once after save file corrupted and trophies)...
...however, even with all of that, I've had a lot of fun with this game. It can look great, variety of racing/vehicles is good, arcade handling is excellent. Hopefully the patch will solve everything - it's been a long time coming!

@Quintumply - any word on cross-play?
Re: Hot Wheels Unleashed (PS5) - Fun Toy Car Racer Makes the Most of Its Licence
So, it's as good as Kena: Bridge of Spirits
On a serious note, driving physics were my main concern but based on review it sounds good. Lack of track variation/uniqueness and scenery being a bit superfluous is a bit disappointing.

I would have been happier if the Tennis game was the PS5 version as well as PS4 version...
I do appreciate there being something for the kids to play. All too often, PSN games are unsuitable.

Re: This Is the PS5 SSD System Architect Mark Cerny Is Using
ADATA Gammix S70 2TB is only just over £300 on Amazon at the moment - just needs a shallower heatsink apparently, which can be had for less than £5.
I'll still be waiting for them DEALS though!
Re: Konami Admits PES Successor eFootball Will Effectively Be a Demo at Launch

Re: This Is the PS5 SSD System Architect Mark Cerny Is Using
I'm just going to wait a bit and see what prices do - IF I get one, it will be 2TB.
At the moment, SN850 and others are £400+. You can get the Samsung 980 Pro and an easy to install heatsink for about £350.
There will be greater savings if you're ready at the right time - may even have to wait until Black Friday / Christmas sales...
Re: Seagate FireCuda 530 Is the First Third-Party SSD Compatible with PS5
Worth noting that size has an effect on spec and speed
500MB - 7000/3000
1GB - 7300/6000
2GB - 7300/6900
4GB - 7300/6900
I might make do with an external SSD for a while and manage my collection that way, whilst waiting for prices/technology to settle...

No ML, no DL :-/
(hoping clarifications come, particularly around offline modes and controls, and that a lot of what was shown was mobile based - but pessimistic...)

A lot better than the Monster Jam series in my opinion. Physics aren''t perfect but so much more believable.
