Re: Returnal (PS5) - Housemarque's Deep, Dark Shooter Is a PS5 Must Have

Getting Soma vibes when the character sticks her hands in that alien tech. Sadly, Rogue-lites are not for me, unless it was co-op orientated like Remnant. I think I would find this frustrating rather than fun, but can appreciate people who like this sort of niche genre. It's one of those games I'd at least like to try, if Sony had a Gamepass-like subscription model.

Re: Resident Evil Village Has Gyro Aiming on PS5, But It's Busted

@SegataSanshiro I'm glad someone else sees my point of view. I'm currently running a 3rd Gen Intel I7 PC from 8-9 years ago & I'm still able to run current games (I was running a GeForce 970 but upgraded to a 1660 Super recently) at 4K 50-60 FPS. Yes, I might have to scale back some of the graphical options, but my rig still serves at a good mid range option when considering GPU.

@truerbluer thanks, I shall give the articles a read.
I still don't think developers can really argue that the S will be holding back the generation. Just look at PC - millions of different combinations of components & specifications - some games will be playable on a potato at low res, others will of course require a NASA rig, but a lot of these game will have to playable at entry level - mid-range specs as well as top end.
In a hypothetical world, I'm sure Ratchet & Clank could work on the S, just not at 4K 60FPS & most likely without some of the post processing effects etc. Ultimately though, that game is designed with one platform in mind - the PS5, because it's engineered just for one platform.
I don't deny that things can be made difficult with multiple spec options, but this is not going to go away anytime soon because developers for PC put up with it and we'll have mid-gen upgrades again in 3-4 years and games will have to work on new improved consoles as well as the base consoles.
PS5 / Xbox SX just isn't that much of a leap up from PS4 Pro / Xbox One X - I'm sure the handful of specific new console games like Demon Souls could have actaully run on past gen hardware too. Yes, we're all enjoying 60FPS with some bells & whistles like faster loading times etc, but we've barely begun.
Halo Inifinte just wasn't the huge leap everyone expected. Covid also has a lot to answer for. The game was clearly underbaked, and not just in the graphics department. No use in launching broken, half finished games - the developers need room to breathe in these trying times.

@truerbluer what a load of rubbish. Have you not heard of scaling? All the same content would be there regardless of whether a console has slightly less power than the alternative; it will just not look quite as pretty with a different resolution and/or run at the same FPS. If anything, it's the last generation that's holding everything up as most games lauching over the next 1-2 years will likely be multiplatform. By your definition, PS5's power is also holding up parity as it's not as powerful as the SX (which as we've seen, there's actually very little difference, but each system have barely pushed the capabilites yet). I wish people would just enjoy games for what they are, regardless of the system. Stick your Sony snobbery eleswhere.

Re: Rust PS4 Version Incoming as Popular Survival Sim Gets an Age Rating

It can be equal parts amazing and rage quittingly frustrating. Depends on the servers & the people you play with or ultimately against. I had several months of fun times with this title, only to be greeted with toxic teams of 12+ who prey on the weak & raid the little guy bases overnight, consistently over many weeks. Seeing your hardwork reduced to null in seconds is soul destroying. For this reason, I decided to give it a break as it just proved to be stressful & made me angry. It also kind of takes over your life as I was logging on every day, even if it was just to do an hour of resource gathering for base maintenance.

Re: Round Up: Yakuza: Like a Dragon PS4 Reviews Justify a New Direction

sikthvash

The game looks great, but I do have some reservations about the sudden requirement for heavy grinding in the 'drab dungeon' towards the end as a few reviewers have pointed out. Usually don't have an issue with a bit of grinding; the term is usally synonymous with even the best titles in many of the JRPGs I've played. I guess there's only one way to find out if the battle system holds out well long term ^_^

Re: How to Get a Free PS5 PlayStation Camera Adaptor for PSVR

sikthvash

@SoulChimera The serial number should go through fine now. Make sure to go through Google to get the right region for redemption, thus negating the need to call support. Even though I had the right region to begin with, I thought best to make sure it didn't auto change based on my IP address location.

Re: Rumour: Bloodborne Remaster Is Real, Coming to PS5 and PC

sikthvash

Rumour is, this is a real rumour. Rumours of real rumours are now really real and not just rumours. Can there really be any weight to these real rumours? It depends if it's really a real rumour and whether the rumour has some real weight to it. We will have to wait and see regarding the weight and whether it's really real or whether it's just another rumour...

Re: Ghost of Tsushima Patch 1.05 Adds Lethal Difficulty, Easier Combat Setting, and Text Options

sikthvash

Even Lethal difficulty is way too easy. I'm having to play with one hand behind my back & the screen off just to give myself some extra challenge.
Seriously though, Medium is fine for me. My gaming skills are nowhere near as good as they used to be, & despite having some experience with Dark Souls / Bloodbourne, I'm enjoying this less punishing tale & taking in the sights inbetween stabbing and slashing ^_^

Re: Netflix Reveals The Witcher Spin-Off Series Named Blood Origin

sikthvash

@Grindagger what worries me more is if they decide to axe after a few seasons, just like pretty much all their other shows at the mo. Lost in Space, Sabrina, Dark & and others are coming to close way too early. We'll be lucky if Netflix's Witcher gets to cover half of the books, let alone all of them.

Re: Disintegration - Squad-Based Tactical FPS from Halo Co-Creator Unfortunately Misses the Mark

sikthvash

@Paranoimia I found it difficult to care about the campaigns in Halo, with the exception of the first & Halo Reach, the latter being spectactular. I think the magic was really in the multiplayer.
I think when you hold a game up to a benchmark series it's always going to be difficult to impress. They're a small team & no doubt they'll learn from their mistakes with this title & produce something superior.

Re: A Member of the Dreams Community Has Already Had a Job Offer in the Games Industry

@Stocksy Most likely because it's become a meme; everything created by fans like the Pokemon Uranium, the browser based Mario game & many others often get hit by Nintendo's legal team with cease & desist orders, so much so that it's inevitable that anything else that appears to use their IP in some shape or form will get treated in a similar way. Most fans will be reacting in a comedic way, rather than actually being serious.
