I am actually optimistic for Marathon. I think the latest video made the game actually look very good and in my opinion, the success of Arc Raiders will actually help this title.
I personally love the look of the game, it's so different to anything else and the art team did Steller work.
I love Silksong, it was excellent but it just seemed to kind of come and go after all that hype leading up to it's release.
Maybe it's just a side-effect of how many games come out now but it seems you only have a few weeks around release (at best) and then the news cycle moves on.
Just an observation, not sure if anybody agrees but yeah,
Great game, amazing in fact. Looking forward to more of it.
Imagine saying a few years ago that an Xbox game is going to support PSVR lol.
I tried the PSVR but in the end I just found it all abit much after a day at work, dealing with family life etc... the big screen and a controller suits me better.
I imagine those in to VR are going to love this though, seems a perfect fit.
It gets a little tiring seeing comments dismissing PlayStation as a platform.
I get that the PC is also an excellent platform but you're crazy if you don't see a single reason to own a PS5 lol.
While the living room PC can be a thing - is still not ideal compared to a console (Particularly for me with a wife and kids who all use the living room) and it's not as if you're wanting for many games on PlayStation these days.
This generation is different to previous, no doubt. But it's still loaded with great games on a good platform with good hardware.
Enjoy Death Stranding 2 to those playing on PC - It is an excellent game from a legendary figure within this industry. You're going to love it!
They should just release the digital version followed later by the physical. I don't think it matters and that way the team gets a a second marketing bump when the physical version releases
Sony is going to end the generation strong... It's been a good year really for them. Death Stranding and Yotei were both excellent. Saros & Wolverine are coming up and then they end the generation with this, honestly... pretty awesome to be fair.
Naughty Dog are the flagship Sony studio (IMO) This is going to be oh so good.
This is going to be a fantastic experience and that price is honestly pretty incredible... I think they could have charged as much as £40 at launch and still sold alot of copies!
Hats off to them for doing this, not often you'll get a game as big and deep as this for £20 at launch.
I get the audience for this game can be abit much at times (just like other fandoms in this space) but this is going to be a fantastic game! Really looking forward to it! The year has been STACKED!
I'm playing it at the moment and it's just what I need.
I hope it's successful enough to warrant a continuation of the series.
Not every release should be a 30+ hour deep open world (don't get me wrong, I enjoy these games too). Its just kind of refreshing to play a chapter or so before bed and enjoy the story and gameplay for what it is.
I'm personally looking forward to this one. A tighter, focused single player experience that's 10 to 15 hours? Sign me up, I just hope it works well on PlayStation.
It looks pretty good tbf. I'm looking forward to seeing how this turns out.
The sad thing about the Dead Space remake was it sold pretty well I believe, something like 2 million units in the first few weeks! That numbers probably quite a bit higher now. I would have loved to see DS2 remade but doesn't seem likely now.
The trailer was great & these screenshots look nuts.
Now I'm not wanting to be negative, I hope I'm wrong but I remember when the GTA V screenshots got originally released when it was coming to PS3. The game did not not look close to what the screenshots showed at the time.
I suspect this level of fidelity is possible but I'm not convinced it'll look like this on ps5 when it releases.
Still, the game looks very impressive. It'll be a wild time when it releases!
Probably the best first party title on the PS5 in my opinion. Cannot wait for Saros! House marque was an excellent purchase by Sony... One of the better decisions they've made this generation.
@Ogbert Spot on observation. I miss those experimental games that Sony used to fund. That was PlayStation to me. The weird artsy creative within this space.
But I understand it's probably a bit of a niche want. That era of video games has passed unfortunately it seems (at least within the console space).
I think in some ways all the big players have lost some of their identity though. The Switch 2 is a better switch, and I think that's probably all they need to do. A hybrid console/ handheld is still a fantastic idea when backed up with awesome software.
The PlayStation of today is a lot less exciting than the PlayStation of the PS2 and 3 era. Don't get me wrong, I still love my PlayStation but what truly differentiates it from an Xbox or a PC? a few small things here and there but not a massive amount. Software used to do it but that's now available on PC.
Even the marketing is much less ambitious than back in the day, remember those weird Sony ads? They were bonkers haha.
but looking at the numbers, both these companies are wildly successful, so do they really need to change anything in the short term? probably not.
Bionic bay, Mandragora, Indiana jones and the second Bloom and rage tape... ALOT of games for 1 week when I was already interested in AC shadows as well this month.
I'm not to bothered by the consoles price, I can even accept the expensive games if Nintendo would put them on sale after a year or so but they don't so it becomes very frustrating.
You just can't price games at £75 and that be that for the lifespan of the console when competition have subscription services, sales etc.
I love that we're getting all these titles on playstation, however you'd think Microsoft would be a little more tactical with their release schedule. No need to release them on top of eachother!
My personal favourite... I was 11 years old when I got mine so this console defined those early years. Gaming during the PS2 and PS3 was incredible, E3 was like Christmas.
I was just so excited and fascinated by this industry during these years.
Great review, I'm yet to try a two point game but I've had an eye on this one. something about it being in a museum, it just sounds like fun! Also, I love the points made about it having a sense of humour, a big win for me.
Tren, built by Media Molecule within Dreams (and brought to my attention by Push Square) was an absolute highlight for me and my kids. What an awesome little project that was.
Great achievement from the team. Sounds like all versions of the game run well though so it's just a generally well optimised game which deserves praise these days.
I'm not sure the game is for me, but it's good to see!
This can't have been that costly a game to make, I wonder what the margins were really like? 1.3 mill doesn't sound that bad to me for a smaller title...
I loved it tbh, thought it was super fun and high quality... I was kind of optimistic thinking Ubi might start investing in a mix of AAA and A titles but yeah, not happening.
Wow, this is so neat! I shall be looking through some of these when I get chance. Print media was kind of beautiful in its own way... No offence Push Square, you're cool too.
I must say I loved the original Factions in TLOU. It does seem these modern games are to big and complicated though to include a multiplayer component as well like back on the PS3.
Wouldn't it be cool if they found an awesome FPS multiplayer focused studio and just made an old school Killzone game? I'd be interested for sure but would it really attract the numbers they want to see? I'm unsure
I'm unsure but aren't these guys a pretty experienced MMO team?
I don't mind Sony trying to get into this space, but what I don't like seeing is the first party studios that have traditionally made steller single player titles producing them.
I think Helldivers is a great example, get a talented third party team that's proven in this space and nurture an excellent live service game with them, let the first party do what they're good at.
I do think Sony should be trying to be in this space to be honest. They can nail it and it's been proven.
At 61 you do feel like we're nearing the end of his career. It's sad to think about but how many games do some of these guys have left in them? Kojima, Ken Levine, Neil Druckman and so on, you have to savour what these people do! They won't be making games forever and these dev cycles are so long now.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 613
I'm enjoying a second playthrough of baldurs gate 3... It's my Christmas and January game. It's just as good as ever.
Also started DK Bonanza which is proving to be a lot of fun. I hope everybody is enjoying the break!
Re: Game of the Year: #7 - Lumines Arise
Lumines was really really good. I was late setting off to work a couple of mornings so I could have a quick game.
A bit of a classic for the brand as well, it feels right playing this on a PlayStation.
Re: Game of the Year: Best PS5 Indie Game of 2025
Silksong and Ball x Pit were both excellent fun this year. Never got round to Blue prince but I shall one day.
Absolum slipped past me! I'll have a look into it!
Re: Marathon Art Director Departs Bungie as the Game Enters Its Final Stretch
I am actually optimistic for Marathon. I think the latest video made the game actually look very good and in my opinion, the success of Arc Raiders will actually help this title.
I personally love the look of the game, it's so different to anything else and the art team did Steller work.
I'm quite excited to try the game in March.
Re: Sucker Punch Enters a New Era as Co-Founder Brian Fleming Departs
What a fantastic career he's had. Looking forward to what the new leadership comes up with. Personally, I'm hoping for a new IP next.
Ghost is awesome, I wouldn't be opposed to more in the future but new leadership seems a great time to try a new idea.

Less of child Atsu ain't a bad thing... The games awesome, but child Atsu belongs with child Aloy.
Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 UK Sales Plummet 61% Compared to Black Ops 6
Wow, that really is down quite significantly.
Some of the fans do seem kinda bored with it... Battlefield 6 has been very succsessful and Arc raiders is the hot new kid on the block.
It'll be interesting to see what happens over Christmas and what comes out on top.

Re: Gargantuan Black Myth: Wukong PS5 Patch Massively Improves Performance
@J2theEzzo Great... lol.
Well, I appreciate the reply. Shame about the patch.
I think this team really needs some help with the console optimization. They just can't seem to get this one right.
Re: Gargantuan Black Myth: Wukong PS5 Patch Massively Improves Performance
Has anybody tried the game since the patch release?
I've been interested in this, but holding off as that framegen 60 is a big no no for me in an action game.
Interested to hear how the game is now?
Re: Mafia: The Old Country Actor Claims Another Game in the Series Has Already Been Approved
Awesome, I thought the game was great personally.
It was a delightful way of spending an hour or so each evening, enjoying the story and it's world until the end.
It was a simpler experience and as much as I enjoy a large complex game, these types of games should have their place.
I look forward to more!

Re: Sony's Next Blockbuster Ghost of Yotei Goes Gold Ahead of October PS5 Release
Nice to see the team achieve this with time left to iron out any kinks that may pop up.
I'm looking forward to this one, I don't quite understand the negative attitudes I see towards it... It looks good and Sucker Punch are a great team.
For me, the year has been stacked with great games... I can't keep up but I shall definitely be playing this before the years out!

I appreciate the transparency here.
I'm personally looking forward to this one. A tighter, focused single player experience that's 10 to 15 hours? Sign me up, I just hope it works well on PlayStation.
Looking forward to the verdict.
Re: Gran Turismo's Primary Console Competitor May Be No More
I play GT as a PlayStation fan but I visit a friend who plays Forza on PC and we often do time trials to beat each other's times.
The game is fantastic with tons of cars and tracks. This is sad tbh and it deserves better.
Re: Red Dead Online Springs Back to Life as PS5 Port Hopes Increase
I, along with many others would pay to play this again on modern hardware.
Red dead 2 was a generationally special game, a true 10 out of 10 and deserves to be on PS5 with all the bells and whistles.
If you don't want to pay to play it again, feel free not to. It's your choice!
Re: PS5 Horror Cronos: The New Dawn Is Dead Space in All But Name

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2 PS5 Version Tease Turns Out to Be a Cast Reunion
Damnit. I believed this time, I don't know why but I did!
I've just replayed RDR 1 on my steamdeck and I am so up for playing 2 again but I guess today's not the day to get excited for it.
Still, this is coming, I'm sure of it. I just hope it is sooner rather than later.
Re: End of Abyss May Fool You into Thinking It's the Next PS5 Game from Playdead

Re: Silent Hill 2's Proper PS5 Pro Patch Is Still in the Works
Better late than never I guess. I was holding off on playing this, fingers crossed the patch drops before Halloween!

Re: Miniscule Hollow Knight: Silksong PC Update Gets Fans Excited Once Again
I'll be playing it day 1 but they maybe shouldn't have said anything about this game when they did.
I'm hoping the switch 2 event will feature the game... They really need to say something soon!

i think ill be picking this one up at some point.
Re: Yoshida: I Played The Last of Us Online And It Was Great
Yeah okay, but still... A god of war live service game? From Bluepoint... That shouldn't have been greenlit.
It is disappointing we shall never see factions in any form, I'd have been happy with a small factions project! The first was great fun
Re: Sony XDEV Urges Fans to Tune in to PS5 Livestream Today

Re: Shadow of the Colossus Dev Returns with an Insane Robot Game on PS5
