It'll be exciting to see the console and next-gen games but it happens when it happens. Sony can do whatever timescale they want. It's not like I don't have plenty of PS4 greatness to keep me going.
There must be something very specific they wish to wait to reveal (or demonstrate) about this. I can't see why else they haven't clarified this already.
@LiamCroft Well they have held their conference while the promotion has been running. I've always considered the promotion a E3 timed event. I certainly wouldn't say it suggests a specific date but might hint of something happening while the sale is going.
It's strange, I thought the combat was great and more interesting than a lot of games. On higher difficulties you really have to plan what offensive skills/items you use in order to beat certain enemies and the finishing animations were excellent. I suppose different mechanics suit different players. My favourite game and I'm excited to see what they do with the franchise in the future. Now remake the first two for PS5 CD Projekt.
My main gaming activities this weekend will be continuing with my 'Deadly Obsession' run of Shadow of the TR. And when that annoys me by making reply half an hour when I die, I'll carry on saving the planet in X-Com 2.
Also just got Disney + so I'm going to indulge in The Mandalorian.
I'm cool with them making it a timing thing. There's a small window to get the perfect hit to kill instead of you have a very big number so I just gave you a shaving cut.
I wonder if there first game will be a first-person shooter? Just kidding, hope it works out for them and because it seems like the industry needs to find a better balance.
@Octane Yeah totally. I don't think I've ever brought a season pass before I've played a game. I need to judge how much I enjoy a game before paying for more of it. I've got a few expansions but always after they have released and often in sales.
@Octane Like you say they want people to pre-order the gold edition or whatever one comes with the season pass. There are people who complain if you try and sell them the season pass without telling them what's in it so they can't really win either way. Don't get me wrong I prefer CD Projekt's method (and probably others) of getting the game out then selling DLC later as seperate things.
@MS7000 Fair enough I don't know the exact process in their studios but just that various parts will be busy at different times in the development and can move on to other stuff before a game is finished. Whether we hear what content is coming next or not it's being planned/created all the same.
News Flash peeps, games take ages to make and you need to plan a long time in advance. The game may have only just been revealed but has been worked on for a few years and will be reaching the final stages of production. Writers/concept artists will be mostly done on the main game and can start planning extra stuff while programmers/testers put everything together.
Much like all surprise reveals nowaday, half the internet will excitedly expect one the AAA big studios to reveal something and it will end up being a small/niche title and loads of disappointment. We've probably got a few more weeks before the tent-pole games start showing themselves.
@LiamCroft @jdv95 I'm pretty sure it was because of the reaction they were getting to the Fallout 76 announcement. They felt the need to say 'hey, we're still making single player games too see', despite them being years away. I thought there might be a Starfield reveal this E3 (back when it was happening) then release later it the year. Just like they did for Fallout 4, but probably not going by this tweet. Maybe next year then.
After replaying Resident Evil 2 I finally got some S ranks, Claire yesterday and Leon this morning. I started thinking I might actually go for the platinum but then I had a few goes of 4th Survivor, so maybe not.
After a surprisingly large update to Shadow of the TR I've made a start on a Deathly Obsession run. I'll also wind down with more of my X-Com 2 campaign.
EA being a bit sneaky with the 'smart delivery'. Just read you have to buy the game before the end of the year and upgrade to Series X by March 31 2021.
All those youtube/twitter experts suggesting things like Batman, Elden Ring, Harry Potter etc are going to feel a bit miffed right now. I'm just gutted there wasn't a bit more on AC Valhalla.
I've pondered if Sony hasn't revealed they're doing this because they are going to literally show it. When they finally do the full reveal for the PS5 I can imagine them giving the info and saying 'here are a few games running their PS5 upgrade patch' and show gameplay from a few first party PS4 games improved.
I enjoyed the game but the combat wasn't my favourite part of it so just waves of fighting isn't really for me. However it's really good to see EA continue to support the game and especially for free.
I highly doubt we will see any (new) Dragon Age/Mass Effect games as I think it's too early. It will be interesting to see if the remaster rumours are true and what the games are. Mass Effect trilogy remake (akin to Resi) would be awesome.
@Arugula Yeah there's not many I wish I got. The Witcher 3 is a good one and I would have quite liked both the Resident Evil remakes. I slept on the decision of getting it for 3 but when I woke up it was sold out. Oh well, you snooze you lose.
@Jaz007 It wouldn't be the first time. It's hard to know if you want a collector's edition when you don't know how good the game is. It would be good if special versions came out without the game a few months after release but not going to happen as it's all about creating incentives to pre-order.
I keep changing my mind about what edition to get. Maybe we will see more gameplay soon to help make my mind. I'm definitely getting it but not sure if I want the special edition or go all out on the collectors.
After my couple of playthroughs of resi 3 I've decided to have another play of Resident Evil 2 and grab a few more trophies. Still some perfecting to do before an S rank I think. Still keeping my soldiers alive in X-Com 2 and getting dangerously drawn back into RDR 2 online.
After a recent Uncharted campaign run I might start 2. But I've also reinstalled TLOU and Horizon recently and may give them another go soon.
It was a great idea but hampered by the execution and quality of the game. I started watching the first day but the matches lasted 5-10 mins then about half hour gaps in between. Sometimes they missed the start of matches as well. It's a shame because it was a stellar line-up and entertaining at times, mostly when we could hear the players themselves rather than the commentators.

I've got the trade paperback pre-ordered. I wonder if it will lay any seeds for the sequel. I had the second cover as my PS4 theme for quite a while.

Still waiting for something to fill the void left by Top Spin's absence. Don't hold much hope for this but we'll see.

That's really impressive. I've got it installed but haven't made a start yet, I've got time off soon so might dig into it then.
