Re: Some PS5 Owners Are Experiencing Rebuild Database, External HDD Woes

CKFilms

Thanks very much @God_of_Nowt for answering questions in the comments about this, it has really helped keep everyone informed about the ongoing situation and hopefully calmed some nerves.

I'll be sticking with PS5 games when the console arrives on the 19th and then hook up the external SSD I have with the PS4 games to transfer a couple of titles over I need to finish.

I generally avoid having games running in rest mode and will power down until I know a fix has been put through an update.

Re: Out Today: PS5, Sony's Biggest and Most Powerful Console

CKFilms

I just got Assassin's Creed, DualSense Controller, HD Camera and Pulse Headset delivered. Hopefully Demon's Souls and Miles Morales tomorrow. I also just managed to scour CeX website for the Dual Charging Station, Media Remote, Sackboy, and Planet Coaster, all with vouchers I already had in prep for PS5 launch. Happy days!!

Re: Best PS5 Accessories

CKFilms

Pulse headset and HD Camera coming tomorrow from Amazon. Ordered an extra Dual Sense Controller which states it has dispatched but nothing to say it's "on its way" like the others.

Re: Sony Exploring Ways to Store PS5 Games on External SSD

CKFilms

@God_of_Nowt wow thanks for confirming what I was thinking about it. So this is likely why we don't see a faster loading speed for PS4 games on PS5 compared to xbox series x? and why some devs can't carry over saves from PS4 to PS5 when upgrading?

Microsoft are working with a 'generic' SSD and architecture so that is why everything is carrying over or loading that bit faster for backwards compatibility.

Re: Sony Exploring Ways to Store PS5 Games on External SSD

CKFilms

This just made me think of PS3 architecture for some reason. Maybe it's the complex nature of the custom SSD, and how it stores data and saves for fast access, that means this generation's games won't be compatible with third party internal or external SSDs for some time to come. Like the game isn't stored as one file (game) on the SSD and is in fact several. My thinking about this was based on Sony saying there could come a time when you can download separate parts of one game to play rather than the full game.

Re: PS5 vs PS4 Pro Fan Noise Video Eloquently Makes Its Point

CKFilms

My PS4 Pro fan is very loud playing any game, and is now taking to overheating and shutting down unexpectedly after an hour of grinding gameplay in Sekiro. Four times it has done it now. My console is definitely on its way out, so I am very glad to see that the PS5 is very quiet. I will be glad that the whole house doesn't know I've turned on my console to play now haha.

Re: Sadly, You Can't Store PS5 Games on an External HDD

CKFilms

Sony have said that upgrading the SSD will be disabled out of the box and will be enable in a future update. Maybe transferring PS5 to external storage will be added in that same or separate update? Probably Sony are thinking right now there isn't enough to warrant the need for transferring games off the system or want a error free launch.

Re: PS5 Review - The Future of PlayStation

CKFilms

@get2sammyb are you able to report on the streaming personalisation for Twitch or YouTube?
Also the fact we're playing with 667GB on the SSD, how did you find playing PS4 titles off an external SSD and leaving the internal drive for PS5 titles?

Re: PS5 Has 667GB of Usable Storage Space on Its SSD

CKFilms

So January will have Hitman 3 taking up a big chunk of the drive as an ongoing service game, so I'm hopeful the store will start listing game sizes for PS5 titles soon. I will have an external SSD for PS4 titles and was also hopeful I could transfer PS5 titles to this as well, but there seem to be confusing points on different websites about this.

Re: PS5's Limited SSD Storage Space Cannot Be Upgraded at Launch

CKFilms

I have Assassin's Creed, Demon's Souls, Overcooked, Spider-Man Remastered and Miles Morales, and Bugsnax coming on day one. I have a 2TB external SSD with my PS4 titles on there. I am worried that Hitman 3 will be my COD (ongoing service) in January and I will struggle to have even a few PS5 titles on the system without deleting and transferring to an external drive. Guess that will have to do for now.

Re: Poll: What PS5 Launch Games Will You Buy?

CKFilms

Miles morales with spider-man remastered, demon's souls and assassin's creed. Along with bugsnax and any ps plus collection I haven't played. Plus all the ps4 games I never finished. So the backlog continues...

Re: Talking Point: What Do You Want to Know About PS5?

CKFilms

How quiet is the console playing "noisy fan" PS4 games such as God of War or Sekiro?
How much storage do we actually get?
Can you try some of the BC games that have been labelled as "possibly glitchy", for example AC Syndicate? And find what the warning could elude to?

Re: PS5 Games Won't Support PSVR, Says Sony

CKFilms

This really sucks if it's true. Was really hoping for a Resi Village VR experience like 7. Waiting for all the devs to confirm this though. No Man's Sky new trailer still mentions PSVR support alongside the free upgrade. Hitman 3 still lists VR enabled for the PS5 version. I'll wait and see what is confirmed.

Re: PS5 Fans Are Very Concerned About Ubisoft's Comments on PS4 Backwards Compatibility

CKFilms

@Peach64 @Robinsad Here is the article regarding the "Sony Spokesperson" stating PSVR is only available via backwards compatibility for Hitman 3 and No Man's Sky: https://uploadvr.com/psvr-games-on-ps5/

However, Hitman 3 is listed for PS5 on the store and mentions being 'VR enabled'. There is no listing for No Man's Sky for PS5, but the PS4 listing still mentions VR. Will know more when the games come out on PS5.

Re: PS5 Fans Are Very Concerned About Ubisoft's Comments on PS4 Backwards Compatibility

CKFilms

The difference here is Xbox have a dedicated team to update games for backward compatibility while Sony are relying on the dev to update their own games. That's why some games have been receiving fresh updates. I'm one gamer who just bought the AC back catalogue to enjoy on PS5 game boost. I guess I will play Syndicate on PS4 before the rest on PS5. Ubisoft doesn't have to update the game for full compatibility, but it would be good if they did.

Also, the original article this stems from was discussing the close of Uplay and intro to ubisoft connect. I originally thought they were saying the game won't work with ubisoft connect.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 347

CKFilms

@Lumic I mean it's all about finding a good rhythm to each of them. Bloodborne was very much about being on the offensive, but this one you want to be deflective hits and working on the enemy's posture. I would say Sekiro is the toughest of the lot as there are a lot of sub bosses to defeat.
