Re: Feature: What Do Longtime Final Fantasy Fans Think of Final Fantasy XV?

Kellanved

I've played every mainline entry besides the MMOs, I think XV is really fantastic in spite of its weak storytelling. I think it's on the fringe of being top 5. I would rank VI, VII, IX and IV comfortably above it, the 5th spot would either go to XV, X or V (maybe I'm underrating XII, I look forward to playing that again with the remaster).

Naughty Dog is the best game developer in the world, hands down.

I don't think we're getting this game before late 2019 at the earliest, but it's immediately now my most anticipated game. TLOU was a masterpiece, this game is going to have a very hard time living up to that.

@themcnoisy Where are these "consumer rights" violations you allude to? SE advertised a product, showed exactly what was included with it, and then people bought it, and are still getting exactly what was advertised.

Where on earth is the controversy here? People are expecting free bonuses from a publicly traded company with shareholders and salaries to pay? You can't just write off a million dollars because you're a big company, that isn't how a successful business is run. You use that million dollars to pay some employees, or to help continue developing future software.

@Fath How on earth is anybody being Nickle and dimed by getting exactly what was advertised?

SE valued the price of the CE at $270, and people gladly paid for it knowing full well what it contained. The other option would be to include the Season Pass and then hike the price up to $295, but that would be far, far more egregious. This way people have the choice of getting the Season Pass if they want it or not, and SE doesn't lose money by literally giving it away.

The sense of entitlement that many gamers have nowadays is ridiculous. You pay them for what they offer you, this doesn't give you the right to be gifted anything in the future, this isn't how businesses work.

Gaming is not an altruistic endeavor, people need to realize this and stop expecting companies to charity things to them.

@get2sammyb How many UCE did they end up making, 40,000? That would amount to a loss of a million dollars (give or take a bit if some people who have the UCE don't buy it, which would be surprising), that seems like a bit too much to take on the chin for a gesture of good faith.

If I recall correctly, Fallout 4 did the same thing with the Pip Boy edition, and I don't recall there being much outcry. As long as they aren't removing things that were promised I really don't see what there is to be upset about, people who ordered the UCE are getting exactly what they paid for.
