Me and my brother were borderline addicted to this game the first 4-6 months of its life. Haven't played it since as I felt I had my time with it (and good time it was) but lately I've been having the urge to drop back in and see what's changed. This looks like a good time to do that (I assume/hope my account will carry over from Xbox to ps like destiny?)
It's only ÂŁ50 right now on Amazon UK. Can't argue with that, I was going to skip this game over the ÂŁ70 price tag and wait for a sale but ÂŁ50 is a more than fair price I think
Really loved playstation home back in the day, not sure I'd get into it as much these days though. I remember really liking the warhawk beta, never got the game strangely but it seems like a good game to revive. I'd give it a go. Factions 2 could be great, factions 1 was very underrated and it hunk it'll be cool to see naugty dog do something a little different. Wipeout or a modnations game would be my preferred picks though.
@dschons know the feeling. From here until march it looks to be way too packed, games that I usually would have called must buys are going to have to wait a while, elden ring and arceus will be my choices so stuff like this, sifu and Kirby will have to unfortunately wait. I haven't even finished nobody saves the world yet... I really hope God of war, hollow Knight and Splatoon are further away than I thought to buy me a bit of time!
A system that I liked but feel I should have loved (more support from Sony would have helped, can’t believe it didn’t get its own god of war or gran turismo…) but it still holds a lot of good memories for me.
My top 3 games without a doubt are Gravity Rush (still replay it once every so often), Tearaway (one of the few games that makes sense of all the gimmicks the console had) and of course Persona 4 Golden (was border line addicted to that and 3 portable).
Runners up for me would be wipeout 2048, Superstar dust delta, guacamelee, escape plan, Rayman Legends/Origins, Super Meat Boy, Metal Gear Solid Collection, Sound Shapes, Dragons Crown and Motorstorm RC. Soul sacrifice and freedom wars almost made it for style alone but I just couldn’t get into the combat for either.
Love these sort of things đź‘Ť final fantasy 7 remake was my no 1 played game followed by last of us 2 and then rift apart. Didn't put too much time into the playstation eco system last year but I imagine it'll be a very different story for 2022 with sifi and elden ring in the first two months alone.
@lolwhatno that's a fair perspective, personally though I would like to see something about factions 2. I feel like that's something the ps5 is missing, a pick up and play style game that I can return to over and over during the quite periods between the big hits, gran turismo could be that game for a lot of people but personally I'm not fussed on racing Sims (though I do love arcade racers)
@nessisonett I don’t know about that, I’ve got a friend who absolutely loved the first one and put in 1600 hours into it, and that number was about half a year ago, probably gone up even more by now.
Never owned the first vr (or any vr). Figured if I was going to get one I’d wait until the next generation when the technology really takes off and play all the gen 1 games on that, but by the sounds of it that is highly unlikely. Would have liked to play a good few of those games but they could get remasters so there’s that. Plus it’s the new games that will make this, hopefully the horizon game will be a real killer app for the headset. Interested to hear more.
Your take on ratchet and clank is almost identical to mine. The only difference is I’ll probably look back on it more fondly because it was my first ps5 game and it looked the part (usually not something I put too much stock in but it’s a new console, it’s looks should impress)
Elden Ring! (Some very nice trailer references there btw) Sifu would be my no.2 for playstation. Also looking out for Little devil inside, stray, steelrising, god of war and suicide squad.
Not my personal goty but I won’t complain with this pick, it is very good. Loved how each chapter had its own feel, the village was great to explore but wasn’t big enough to get boring and the visuals were exceptional.
Trying to finish up as many games as I can before the onslaught of 2022 games release. I’m on the final chapter of Eastward on switch so hopefully I can hit the nail on the head with that one today. New Pokemon Snap may be a problem as I keep replaying the same missions trying to do absolutely everything before moving on, haven’t left the first island yet. Someone got me Alan wake for Xmas, played the first chapter and I’m enjoying it so far. But I keep thinking that’s how all remedy games begin for me then I get bored and don’t finish them. Hopefully this one bucks the trend. Also got pikmin 3 on sale and I haven’t even started that. But I’d say these 4 games are my main gaming goals right now.
For my ps5 I’m looking forward to sifu and Elden ring. Horizon and gran turismo aren’t for me personally. God of war could be a buy if it launches. I’m looking forward to naughty dog going all in on a multiplayer experience (so long as it’s not a repeat of uncharted 4’s multiplayer). It’ll be nice to see them put their full attention on something a little bit different that their norm. I also hope it’s free to play so I don’t need ps plus but if it isn’t I might still go for it. Also really hope media molecule has another game in the works, even if it’s a very small scale game. After Tearaway I’d love to see what they could do with the dual sense (I also just miss their games, dreams was cool but didn’t feel like an actual game).
Resident evil 8 was awesome, loved how each section of the game had its own feel, and the open area in the middle was just the right size to explore without becoming boring. I think I just about prefer 7 but there’s not much in it, glad to see resident evil back on form.
I considered buying it but I was hesitant hearing that it was a tough one to get into. I think I’ll wait for a sale but my interest is there; haven’t played a fighting game in a good while.
Struggled to pick 5, and out of the five I picked 4 of them I played on other platforms. Pyschonauts 2 is my favourite from the list but little nightmares 2 is my actual goty.
Hopefully finish Guardians (just in time for the new ray tracing mode). Halo and Forza will be my chill/social games for the foreseeable future. Just picked up Pikmin 3 deluxe on switch after enjoying the demo. Looking for other games on sale, thinking either hitman 3, Fenyx Rising, Divinity original sin 2, Tails of Iron or Maybe Tales of Arise if the demo is good.
My favourite console (maybe tied with game boy and possible switch depending on how its final few years go). Pretty good list, some of my top picks missing but overall nothing too scary.
Like most years my personal goty isn’t nominated (little nightmares 2) or even most of my top ten this year which will make things difficult to vote. Out of the ones there I think I’ll vote for Psychonauts 2 with Dread as a runner up.
Like most of the time I’m doubtful my personal goty will even get nominated. So far it’s little nightmares 2. Thought the silent and interactive story telling in it was superb. And it’s art direction was inspired. My other favourite games would be Psychonauts 2, Forza Horizon 5, Metroid Dread and surprisingly Guardians of the galaxy, took a while for that game to click but the characters above all else won me over.
Finally got one around 2 months ago. Now that I’ve finished ratchet, sack boy and Astro bot I’m struggling to find a reason to turn it on. I’m not spending £70 or even close to that on a game I’ve played over ten years ago (demons souls) and I’m not a rogue like fan so that’s returnal out the window. I did get miles morales with the ps5 and I think I’ll save that for my Xmas break (need something to play then) and I got guardians on the go which is I guess is a decent filler game. Both my series s and switch seem to be getting more use recently but next year hopefully GOW will launch (main reason I got the console) and hopefully a good last of us multiplayer experience and Elden ring so things are looking up.
That took for ever… but a fun look back at the system. I can tell it was the console of my teenage years with the amount of 10/10’s I gave it. Nostalgia is strong with this one!
Never been huge into gta (red dead was always my rockstar game), I missed the ps2 era trilogy and v didn’t really do much for me, but 4 was my favourite by far. I liked the story more than v and the online was fun back then with friends. Don’t know if I’d replay it but I think it would be cool to give the game a second life.
Not a bad game. Didn’t leave anywhere near the same impact on me as lbp but it was still a good discount buy, enjoyable especially in co-op. Actually wouldn’t mind some sort of expansion pack for it, an excuse to jump back in to try all these additional skins (which I hope they keep adding)
The best thing about it was that there was more Sully.
The second best part was the amount of awesome set pieces, it’s like they went “the train level from 2 was so great, let’s just do something like that for every level.”
Also glad to see people talking positively about the multiplayer, good times
Was contemplating buying guardians of the galaxy but I’m not so sure about the combat. The (first world) problem if I don’t is that the next big budget ps5 release I’d be interested in won’t be until February next year, and I haven’t bought a ps5 game in a little while, it’s just kind of sitting there waiting. Hopefully something like stray or little devil inside launches this year.
Ezio, miss you pal! The ezio trilogy, 4 and origins would top my list. Unity and 3 just below them. Odyssey, liberation and syndicate right at the bottom. Haven’t played Valhalla yet, kind of want to but it sounds way too bloated. It’s the only mainline entry I haven’t played (odyssey is the only one I never finished which is why I’m hesitant with this one)
The Ezio trilogy and black flag are my favourites (with origins just coming up short). Unity, 1 and 3 come close but didn’t have enough polish to be great.
