After slaying a gazillion zombies/infected in Dead Island 2 and a replay of the first Dead Island game I am off to the "sanity" of GTAV online to get caught up with some recent dlc added content I have yet to play.
I like the formula of gameplay of the series since FC3. The first and second games were okay with the formula since FC3 providing huge improvements of gameplay.
The gameplay ideas for Blackbird and Maverick sound okay for dlc, but not for what I would like the main game to be. There are other better ways to change up Far Cry than adding a timer to the whole game, and or, having it pvp for the whole game.
I listed GTA6, Mafia, Borderlands 4, and Indiana Jones. From not on the list I add Dying Light The Beast as my 5th pick. I'm going to finally purchase a PS5. With the new games, and yet to play games I have waited to play on a PS5, 2025-26 looks to be great gaming years for me.
My interest now is in having a great BL4. I very much hope Tina is in it somewhere, maybe her own dlc like in BL2. Tina as a playable vault hunter could be interesting. From the initial lineup we have been shown I would be happy to see Tina replace the weird looking female playable character with the big hair and glasses.
The big guy with the beard and silly gear/outfit I also desire to see replaced. If not replaced maybe two added playable characters could be added in the first dlc.
@playstation1995
Days Gone, while excellent in many ways, is on my short list of games to finish that I started. Like with RDR2 I hit a wall of where I lost interest, started playing a new game, and have yet to return. Although with RDR2 I have played hundreds of hours of online.
The remake of the original Mafia game is a 9/10 for me. The chapter in the museum is great to just go through slowly and look and take screen shots. The overall story the characters, and the city are excellent. My only disappointment is the lack of dlc. Something like Joe's Adventure in Mafia 2. Did you do the trick to drive a boat?
Dead Island 1 on 4Pro. After a recent play of Dead Island 2 I got the itch for a replay of the first game. There is a big drop in graphics from 2 to 1, but no drop in fun game play. The melee weapons in the first game do much more damage when thrown, and one character's skill provides for thrown weapons to boomerang back after thrown, up to 50%.
Also a trick provides easy solo duplication of any item. So have 10 copies of your favorite machete, hundreds of grenades, hundreds of health packs, and a ton of stuff needed to craft ammo.
I have never been much of an awards show watcher. Maybe the Academy Awards some years ago was the last time I watched an awards show. Now I just wait to view what and when I want on youtube.
This may sound wild, but GTA6 may be finished and in release form right now, Fall 2024. A delayed release to Fall 2025 will be to just milk that cow, GTA5, for another year as it seems to still be printing lots of money.
The trailer didn't inspire me much and I never played it on PS2 with then a desire for an hd remaster. Maybe at a sale price, but more likely I'll take it for a spin if it becomes a Plus game.
Still waiting for remasters of games I want remasters of. Such as: Scarface, Saints Row 1 & 2, Fallout 3 & New Vegas, GTAIV, Total Overdose, Dino Crisis 2, and Red Dead Redemption.
Every current gen has had a significant leap in some ways when compared to the previous gen. A dog may not be aware of that but those that own and play on the consoles, or just from reading about the current gen console, can easily notice the improvements.
The leap with the PS5 is significant with 60fps over 30fps for most games, superior graphics , and a big one, faster loading times. Then there is the mid gen Pro model that is suppose to provide the superior graphics and 60fps or more to actually work well.
Dead Island 2 on 4Pro. Finally started this game after downloading it as an Extra game. It looks and plays very well on my 4Pro, however there are long loading times when fast traveling on my old previous gen console.
Those that like zombie games should give it a try. How fun/good is it? I'm about halfway through and so far it is in some ways better and other ways not as good as Dead Island 1 and Riptide, but not even close to the fun factor of the first Dying Light game.
I went from SNES to a PS2 in 2002, the PS1 games I played are few. RE-2 Directors Cut, RE-3, and Dino Crisis 2 are my favorites of the few I played. All 3 I played multiple times with Dino Crisis 2 maybe 15 or 20 plays. I purchased a Game Shark for PS1 just for codes for Dino Crisis 2.
4/10, all but 2 were pure guesses. The RE4 remake question I seemed to remember from it's review as I have not played it. The number of PS2'S sold I knew.
@sanderson72 , Yes, all PS5 models are ugly. There had to be at least 2 or 3 other designs that lost to the design used. I wonder what those passed over designs look like.
I waited and had hopes for the slim and then the Pro. One is smaller and ugly while the other is big, ugly, and the disc drive is extra. Then the classic colored slim model that is more expensive and again the disc drive is extra. Extra for the disc drive that has been in short supply.
Still rolling with my 4Pro that is a pretty black rectangle with a superior user interface, folders, background options, and, doggone it, also a web browser.
I have been holding off on Dying Light 2 to play on a PS5 which I have yet to purchase. I will download it today to play on my PS4 Pro. I hope it plays as well on my 4 PRO as my current play of Dead Island 2 is.
GTAV is on this new list? I thought by now everyone already had a copy or two of that 2013 game.
@Stale-Bread, I believe a big benefit of the 5 Pro will be that the extra juice may better bridge into the next gen PS6. Much like my PS4 Pro has with the current gen. That is as long as games are released on both 5 and 6 like with the 4 and 5, and if like with the 5 there are few big must have games released the first 2 or 3 years only on the 6.
I'm still using my PS4 Pro and a 1080p tv which still provides good play of PS4 games, and most newer games released on 4 and 5. Dead Island 2 I downloaded last month looks and plays fine. My tv settings smooth the motion blur of playing at 30 fps, my only complaint is the long loading times.
PS4 PRO with 1080p tv: The definitive verserion looks great to me. Nice bright colors, clear with no grain/haze, and none of that yellow tint. With certain weather and by how I set the game's and my tv display I could make the game look ugly like in the comparison photo above.
I purchased the original the week of release in 2004 and played the regular PS4 version, and the definitive edition, after patches, looks and plays the best for me. The races, overall driving, and missions and activities are improved. I was successfull on my first try at "Life's a Beach." Also the flying stuff at Verdant Meadows was easier because I could actually see with the thick fog removed.
What next, I buy a new game and find fov, and motion blur sliders greyed out, same thing with custom button mapping and subtitle size options? I then find out for a $10 unlock fee I can have access to those greyed out settings.
I ditched Premium with my latest renewal 2 months ago, lack of games I want, and I prefer to download for superior performance and image captures. Dino Crisis is not enough for me to add Premium again.
I was hoping for a graphics and controls upgrade to give me incentive to repurchase DC if my PS3 purchase was not honored. I never could play the PS3 version because it lacked an option to use the sticks for movement.
Dead Island 2 makes this month good for me and will make my recent continuation of Extra feel worth the cost. I ditched Premium because I prefer to download to play.
Great month for me. I love Dead Island games and have held back on DI2 for when I upgrade to a PS5 for the 60fps over the 30tps on my PS4 Pro. I'll download ASAP for my old Pro. There are a couple of other games on extra that look interesting enough to sample.
I purchased Dino Crisis for my PS3 and could not find an option to use the analog sticks instead of the d pad for movement. Unfortunately I then found it unplayable unlike Dino Crisis 2 I have on disk and can use the sticks on my PS2 and 3. I hope this version has been updated so I can play it using the sticks for movement.
For $50-60 extra I would prefer a black rectangular case to house a PS5 in after ditching the white panels. Better yet an optional PS5 that already has black side panels or no panels but housed in a black rectangular case. That saved $50-60 could purchase a game.
Just asking why is a problem. A competent marketing team should be on top of any trends and communicated so within the company. The problem then may be a poor marketing team or a good team, but high levels not litening.
The outage caused two Borderlands game on my PS4 to not load. Tiny Tina Wonderlands disk copy and Borderlands 1 digital copy. My digital copy of Dead Island 1 loaded and was playable. I then disconnected from the internet and Borderlands 1 loaded and was playable. All is back to normal now.
Funny thing is that I usually disconnect my PS4 from the internet before starting to play a Borderlands game, but last night I didn't. The reasons I disconnect are the games then play with less fan noise, and I am not annoyed with selecing an online option along with updates that I may not want that keep attempting to download every time I play.
3 years ago I thought I purchased a baseball bat, but I only rented a license to use it. Last week I received an email that the company will terminate that license at midnight December 31, 2024. At that time that bat will vaporize.
What Hermen Hulst envisioned is I imagine very common among game developers and company executives. However such success is hoped for and not guaranteed. Making a smaller less costly game that would hopefully create interest for more is less risky then spending a fortune to hopefully create the next future phenomenal online money making cash cow.
Remakes and remasters of good old games are better than bad new games, and remakes of PSI and PS2 titles can feel like new games. Resi 2&3 and Mafia are good examples.
My only complaints are not enough new games that I want, and not enough remasters and remakes of some of my old favorites.
Looks to me like FF7 Rebirth was not made for the PS5 but for the PS5 PRO and more so the next gen PS6. Hey let's make a game that is overall blurry at 60fps, but not blurry at 30fps so long as there is no motion.
Games do not have to look blurry, out of focus, or with a vaseline covered lens to be able to be played at a smooth non camera motion blur 60fps. Developers need to start with a minimum of sharp 60fps and then add in settings options for those that want to degrade the image with blur, grain effect, chromatic aberration, narrow field of view, depth of field blur, and the option to display text in teeny tiny sizes.
My feelings are mixed. I waited for a slim, a PRO, and must have games only available on current gen. All while managing to get by with my PS4 PRO.
If it would be like last gen the regular 5 would be down to $400 bundled with a game this Xmas season and I would be picking up a PS5 PRO for $600, that comes with a 2TB ssd, is black, has a disc drive, and bundled with a game.
So my current top price I will pay is $650 provided it included a disc drive and the 2TB ssd. I would still need to pay extra on top of that $650 for black panels to replace the white panels. Bundled with an old game I don't have would sweeten the deal. As it is I'll go with a slim PS5 for some coming games like Borderlands 4, Mafia 4, and GTA 6
The problem is game makers not making games for the current gen hardware. 60fps should be the base minimum, then with graphics that can be sharp at 60 fps with no need to drop to 30fps for a sharp image.
PS3 games play best on PS4, PS4 games are best on PS5, so I will wait to play PS5 games the best on a PS6, while I hold back on PS6 games until the PS7 releases.
@Don
Another comparison to the $600 release price of the PS3. First of all that PS3 at release had two models, one at $499 and the other at $599. Second that $599 model was full of features that the lower priced, $399, 360 did not have. Such features like a built in wifi, internet browser, a blu-ray player, 60GB hdd, 1080p hdmi out, Bluetooth wireless headphones and controller connection with an included wireless controller with internal battery, and no failure rate like the 360's red ring of death.
Then 3 years later the $299 120GB PS3 slim was released, one of the best game consoles ever, and evened the early sales lead the 360 had.
The price of a 5 PRO is one thing, is it needed is another. Apparently it is needed because of game makers failure to make games optimized for current gen hardware. That is graphics are prioritized over smooth 60fps performance. That is what the entire reveal contained. "Wow, oh wow, you can now have 60fps with the better graphics."
Price is one thing while is it needed is another thing. I believe if games were made for the current gen and at a base minimum of 60fps that a mid gen Pro upgrade is then not needed to now actually have the specs to play current gen games properly.
This PS5 gen continues to disappoint. Even comedian Mark Cerny couldn't save the PS5 PRO reveal that I found cringy and basically "hey looky looky, you don't need to pick performance anymore to get 60fps. Yee doggie how about that?"
I have yet to upgrade from my PS4 PRO and will pass on the PS5 PRO. The price of $700 seems reasonable until I figure in the hidden costs of purchasing a disc drive and black side covers. The 2TB ssd is nice, but not knowing when a disc drive will be available is not nice. The biggest not nice is like with the slim model, it is still weird ugly looking.
Somewhat annoying is that the PRO is only needed because game makers do not think 60fps and the current gen first. They instead think graphics first and thus continuing the cycle of waiting to next gen or more expensive PRO model to play the good/60fps version of many games.
@Stragen8
Another way to look at this is product placement. That is for a fee charged to an artist that artist's song will be on an in-game radio play list or otherwise featured in the game. So here with GTAVI it could then be pay R☆ $7,500 to use your song and not R☆ will pay $7,500 to use your song.
For me GTAVI is probably the only game that I would purchase in 2025 for a price of 80 dollars and at release. Knowing that the game will be relatively stable and provide hundreds of hours of play and replays and thus being an entertainment bargain. However GTA6 online may be a seperate one time fee and have features behind pay walls like a GTA+.
All I want with a new title is the base game. No gimmicks, no pre-order junk weapons and cloths, and no editions that include future dlc that I may not want.
Can there please be an all black model so there isn't the hidden cost of buying black panels. I will wager that if equal numbers of black models and white models were released that the blacks would sellout faster. The same wager for rectangular box over the current design.
My only issue with an add on optional disk drive is availability. I don't want a gap in time between the purchases of the console and disk drive.
I can see going from one PRO to another PRO as I have yet to upgrade. My old PRO needs semi retirement along with my PS3, and 2025 brings games I want that are only current gen.
My hopes for a PS5 PRO: a stunningly beautifull generic all black rectangular box, 2TB SSD, and no more than 600 bucks.
Definitely looking like a fun Uncharted like game. As for the first person camera: overall I enjoy 1st person because the immersion felt compared to an out of body feel of 3rd person. However with 1st person I much prefer a switch to 3rd in vehicles and in cover, a wide fov, and that I am able to look down and see my body from the waist down. More games need to have the excellent 1st and 3rd one button tap change like in Fallout and Elder Scroll games.

Re: Talking Point: Is PS5 Pro Way Too Expensive?
@Don
Re: Talking Point: Is PS5 Pro Way Too Expensive?
Price is one thing while is it needed is another thing. I believe if games were made for the current gen and at a base minimum of 60fps that a mid gen Pro upgrade is then not needed to now actually have the specs to play current gen games properly.
This PS5 gen continues to disappoint. Even comedian Mark Cerny couldn't save the PS5 PRO reveal that I found cringy and basically "hey looky looky, you don't need to pick performance anymore to get 60fps. Yee doggie how about that?"
Re: Don't Worry, You Can Add an Ultra HD Disc Drive to PS5 Pro
Seven years ago this December I picked up, at Best Buy, a PS4 PRO bundled with a game for $400. No hidden charges for a disk drive or black panels.
Re: Poll: Are You Sold on PS5 Pro?
Re: 80s Synthpop Stars Heaven 17 Resist the Temptation of PS5's GTA 6
@Stragen8
Another way to look at this is product placement. That is for a fee charged to an artist that artist's song will be on an in-game radio play list or otherwise featured in the game. So here with GTAVI it could then be pay R☆ $7,500 to use your song and not R☆ will pay $7,500 to use your song.
Re: Why Is No One Talking About 1950s Courier Game Deliver At All Costs on PS5?
Looks fun, but the isometric view kills it for me.
Re: How Much Would You Pay for Your PS5 Games? Dev Says Industry Is Waiting for GTA 6 to Hike Prices
Re: Rumour: PS5 Pro Design Seemingly Leaked
Can there please be an all black model so there isn't the hidden cost of buying black panels. I will wager that if equal numbers of black models and white models were released that the blacks would sellout faster. The same wager for rectangular box over the current design.
My only issue with an add on optional disk drive is availability. I don't want a gap in time between the purchases of the console and disk drive.
Re: Rumour: PS5 Pro Still Planned to Release in 2024, State of Play Coming in September
Re: Preview: As Uncharted Rests, Xbox Provides PS5 Adventure in Indiana Jones
Definitely looking like a fun Uncharted like game. As for the first person camera: overall I enjoy 1st person because the immersion felt compared to an out of body feel of 3rd person. However with 1st person I much prefer a switch to 3rd in vehicles and in cover, a wide fov, and that I am able to look down and see my body from the waist down. More games need to have the excellent 1st and 3rd one button tap change like in Fallout and Elder Scroll games.
