It'll be ready when it's ready, there are so many games coming out that by the time it releases i probably won't even realise it. Super excited, can't wait.
Hey @ShogunRok, if you don't mind me asking, does the game show any signs storywise for a potential DLC down the line, or maybe even an expansion like Uncharted: Lost Legacy and Spiderman: Miles Morales? Not that it would affect my purchase in any way, i loved its conccept and would have probably pre-ordered the game if it wasn't for COVID. Unfortunately, i might have to get it later or on sale, so if DLC and a potential GOTY edition with all DLC included can happen, it would help me out.
I suppose it will be one of the free games for ps plus in August now. It's not asking much from Sony, since porting it to PC is showing to be financially succesful, especially if they plan to port it to PS5 (which, let's be honest, they will almost definitely ask you to pay for it and it still WON'T be as impressive as the PC version anyway). Hopefully it's only this game and they don't just give other exclusives as well. Otherwise, might as well be a 3rd party publisher and call it a day.
@AdamNovice Unfortunately, that's only part of the issue. The sinister truth behind the business model that's been established is that for the most part, what drives up the price for games is an excuse. Sure, some games require higher budget and manpower, but not so many as we are seeing currently, especially when they turn out average to mediocre. The truth is that the reason prices keep getting higher and higher is just so execs and publishers keep getting more and more money. It's not like the workers are getting a better salary or better work conditions, they are still going to get treated like "code monkeys" or dogs and in this desperate market, if you can't/won't do it, someone else will. There are ways to have quality AAA games that justify a higher price and take longer to make and more people, this however is NOT a way to do it. All this does is that it keeps lowering the bar so people lower their standards and put up with it. You can't blame anyone who buys games on sale or with bundles anymore, no matter how much they want to support devs. It actually surprises me when people defend or say that it makes sense since it's harder to make games nowadays. It is in some cases, but for the most part it doesn't have to be and in others it's just an excuse, nothing more.
Trash month. You can get all 3 for 15-20 Euros, not much value there. So much for 10 years anniversary, a mediocre Tomb Raider game, a cashgrab sports game and a movie "game". Lame. Really hope next month is better.
That's great and all, hopefully though they stop with the timed exclusive stuff. It takes away money that could have been used to make new IPs or expand on actual exclusives and instead give PS owners something that everyone will get eventually, potentially with something extra to spice up the deal.
I agree that Sony should have used the money for pointless timed exclusivity in studio acquisitions or development on more Exclusive IPs. This is just giving the option to your playerbase to get something first for a bit, or in worst cases to pay full price to Beta test stuff others will get with more stuff or at a better price. I thought Sony saw how pointless this practice is and it really only worked last gen because for the most part people initially thought many of them were exclusive for life. Sony isn't as tactical as they think unfortunately as they claim and seem to just be targeting for as many people as they can, not thinking about long term or at least thinking that people will loyaly will buy stuff on PS. It's early though so i remain cautiously optimistic that they actually have plans to keep AND attract more "hardcore" fans who want to see them expand and don't just blindly buy their stuff.
I liked it, one little thing is they could include more iconic IPs that they own, but maybe they are waiting to update it when they make something new with them (hopeful thinking).
Personally i'm more excited about GoT, plus i haven't even played the first one, so once i get that, i'll probably get this sequel too. That being said, sales wise, it could very well go "the Frozen" route, mediocre sales in the beginning, but steady revenue (increasing/decreasing) throught the year(s). I have very little knowledge about the universe of TLoU, but it always seemed to me that the sequel would have a rocky launch, no matter the cirqumstances, just by the amount of love its fans gave it and the vitriol its haters had.
@Feena I'm pretty sure the point of the first part is to defeat the whispers so they don't interfere anymore. Also, how come they feel part of the story on those and in this one doesn't when even in those games, the plot twists i mentioned happen at around 70-80% of the game with no prior indication of it before? In this game you see them very early so you know that they will play a role this time around. There wasn't anything abrupt about this ending, it needed to go out big just like every FF before, or else it would have a very disappointing TBC after you look in the sunset and that's that. Plus, there are still no indications of timeline jumping, people saw the ending with Zack maybe living and assumed the worst (classic internet). How do you know if he didn't die later on by different causes? Even if he did survive, so what? He can still die later, as well as Aerith, but even if they survive, why would that be problematic? It's a happier ending than the one the original got. The "ham-fisting" part is because people don't want change, not because something doesn't fit. Also, how are fate watchers that different from giant underground machines that protect the planet (with one programmed to destroy it and start anew), an essence of life that communes with the living and helps them, as well as the planet having a physical manifestation and fighting you as well? I think it's nostalgia.
@Feena you time travel in FF1 and fight the god of chaos itself, in FF2 the final boss soul splits in two and conquers hell and heaven, in 4 the spirit of the bad guy not only mind controls many people but comes from the moon and to get there you travel in a machine whale, in ff5 the bad guy is essentially a tree wanting to return everything to nothing and these are small examples. We can go on and on, there wasn't as much of "kh" as you think (whatever that means even, since KH has more in common to FF than people are made to believe).
Loved it, pretty much only drama queens and nostalgia fanboys disliked it so nothing new there, but that's what they did with KH3 as well and they tried to boycott the hell out of that game and this one. Great seeing it blowing up in their faces, not liking something is one thing, trying to undermine and convince others because of how you felt is petty though.
@VroomVroomSpork That's how vocal minorities always worked, now with the internet they seem even bigger in numbers, but in reality it's just easier for them to collectively complain.
@Matroska meh, i found it very natural on my way to the plat, which i still haven't got because i forgot the dresses trophy, but it's not that long if you compare it to other JRPGS, especially Tales and maybe Persona. Now that's grind hell.
@Matroska my bad, i thought we were talking about the weapons exclusive abilities, but i have completely upgraded their stats as well, and even that wasn't a big task at all, so it still a big exaggeration.
@nessisonett the original Midgar was very linear as well though, did you really expect to have the whole of Midgar explorable? Then that really would have been filler hell, since there is absolutely no reason to explore more. Also, no, a remake isn't a 1:1 with updated graphics, where did this phallacy come from? You remake it from scratch, that's a remake, then you can either follow it 1:1 or don't. Funny you mentioned RE2 and SOTC, but didn't include Medievil (which i enjoyed btw, but maybe it didn't help your narrative), or maybe you forget that initially there were people who had gripes with both Sotc and RE2R. Small gripes maybe, but still people found someting to cry about, and claim the originals were better. Again, you are quick to judge how insignificant or not important or whatever the changes are, when the story still isn't over, and after reading you were let down by KH3, i assume you are one of those who let their own hype ruin their experience and cried afterwards like so many others about how they didn't listen. Plus, no it doesn't take 40 years to upgrade the weapons at all, it barely took me a few hours, you are over exaggerating it, to justify you not wanting to like something from the beginning. Making the most linear part of the original, limited as well, doesn't mean the open world that is to come will be linear as well, not anymore than what it was in the original as well.
@nessisonett >The Compilation is pretty much reviled, Advent Children isn’t exactly widely loved either. By whom? The only people i know who completely despise it are puritans of the original, cause otherwise, they fit the world of ff7 really well. The only hiccup would be Dirge of Cerberus, and even that isn't horrible, just mediocre. >When they announced a remake, fans were expecting to have at least the same story, not some meta Kingdom Hearts-level timey wimey nonsense pal, we've known it was a reimagening for a while know, the whole i didn't know what i was getting myself into doesn't stick. Also, people sure are quick to cry "TiME trAVel NUUUUUU" when it could be just clairvoyance on Sephiroths path, and the arbiters being the AC trio could be a fanservice thing. >Perhaps when FF7 Remake 2.5 Fukkitus Est Uppitus releases exclusively on smartphones with Cloud and co reduced to chibi sprites within gacha mechanics, we can really get the answers we’re looking for. Know you are just spouting horrible KH memes from people who hate that franchise, so i don't really think you had an unbiased look on the game going in in the first place. As other people have said, if you really like it, one small segment like the ending (which really isn't any different from every other FF) wouldn't affect you that much, otherwise the original is still there, no one takes that away from you?
@nessisonett Why though? I thought the ending was awesome, hell the remake in general has surpassed the original in many ways. Having said that though, it seems to me a lot of people really are trying to find ways to complain about the game.
I think a difficulty option is more than enough in games. No need to adjust how a game behaves based on someones sweat and heart rate, which by the way could also be caused by factors outside of the game itself.
>Bamco. Sadly, this means multiple season passes, dlc and ridiculous prices for said dlc up the bum bum. It sucks that they have almost a monopoly on fighting games and milk them dry.
People who say that PC players will get a taste and then buy a PS5 for the sequels are dumb. Sony will be even dumber if they actually believe that will work. You may say that 3 years is too much to wait but i wholeheartedly disagree, since i bought a ps4 in November 2018 and wouldn't mind paying full price for it's first party line-up. Even if you bought it at launch, so many quality games come out every year, that you can build a backlog fairly quickly. Waiting 3 or even 4 years is nothing anymore, even more so in the massive library that a PC holds. Nintendo's games are still exclusive after all these years and their value is still high, hence why they get the most emulation. Gamers coming together and building bridges is an excuse so companies milk more money from different consumers at different times. Only PC users truly benefit from it. If you aren't bothered by paying full AAA price for a product that will get an even better version in the future, you do you, but don't act like it has little to no impact at all.
While i still think there should be options for more space (we'll probably get a 2-3 tb ps5 at some point) this is good. I remember that console speed was a strategy Sony had talked about in the past and it was obviously one of their main features. However, i don't know if games will indeed end up becoming quicker and faster in the long run. Some of them will, especially in the beginning of the next gen cycle, but iirc there were devs (and maybe a sony figure too, i can't recall) that explained that that would be the case if the production of games remain the same as this gen. If they choose to up the scales, we'll get more impressive stuff but won't be quick.
Interesting. I was hoping that the in-between stuff would be explained or featured in the future of the series, but maybe they are not so important. Or they could also be explained or referenced in game too. Personally, i like the idea that there are greeks (gods, heroes and mortals alike) who want revenge for what Kratos did, and maybe some will hunt him in the next game.
@Bobskie77 The thing with teraflops though is that it's a huge meme at this point. Not saying they are pointless or anything like that, but there is a lot of subjective measuring when it comes to them. Even though that's probably not the case here, just because a console has more TFs over another doesn't make it better in terms of specs, because of that. There could be a console that boasted 15 or 17 teraflops, but depending on how it was constructed and how it works, it can actually perform worse than an Xseries or a ps5. Simply comparing which console has more tf, is like comparing genitalia sizes, pointless and in this case could also be wrong. So, i'd still prefer consoles that enable devs to put out quality work quicker, than overblown and overbudget tech demos that don't mean anything in the end.
HZD could be one of the games. It obviously isn't worth much on ps4 anymore, so might as well give it for free for ps plus users. Doom would be cool toom or a Final Fantasy game.
@JohnKarnes good for you, guess what though, you are in the minority. Not everyone has every console, and even if they did the numbers of games they have varies. I really don't understand, why are you so against a proper bc feature on PS5? Since you guys clearly don't care and will buy it anyway, you're already sold on the system, why are against ideas and features that could sell the system on more people. It doesn't even have to do with trading or selling your games, with bc you can potentially run games much better than the previous consoles. Even that doesn't make the previous console obsolete, because IF you still have it you can still use it, but more options are good for the playerbase. You guys claim it's not fanboism, but clearly you are acting very defensive over this, as if it's you personally that's getting the flack. Sorry for wanting the console to implement more attractive features, let's start giving them away instead, yoohoo playstation!!!
That's great news. At the end of the day though, it's up to the devs themselves to impress us by showing us what they can create on ps5. Hopefully they will try to push it to its limits, and that goes for 3rd party devs too, not just 1st party.
It's weird that apologists downplay this feature. You guys sure do like buying the same game many times huh? Do you hate building libraries as well? Maybe that's also why you don't care if Sony starts giving away exclusives too. Stop trying to bail a billion dollar company when it makes mistakes or doesn't communicate properly with people, being the voice of reason is important, but blindly agreeing with everything the company does or downplaying features and practises because you don't care about them leads to bad practices and that applies to every system, even PC.
@beavis64 First of all, i didn't imply that people aren't going to buy PS5, of course they are, it's a major brand at this point, even if it didn't have any exclusive games coming out at all, it would still sell a lot, especially in Europe where i'm from and Xbox is practically a joke here because it never offered any incentive over Sony. Second, I wouldn't call Sony an overwhelming leader during the ps3 where it got stomped by the wii of all things, while it led the company in a very tough economic situation which continued well into the ps4 era and only recovered thanks to the god awful subscription practice. Lastly, MS may be dropping the ball but it's obvious that it doesn't matter for them because they are a much bigger company in the end and they are able to cover many loses. If sony was in MS's potition, i don't think as a company it could recover, not without much heavier loses, since Sony f*cked up only at the beginning of the 7th gen and even when they fixed it half gen they were counting their loses well into the ps4 era as i stated before. To summarise, i never said the PS5 is going to fail, or not sell by any margin, only because it has a very loyal fanbase that is willing to support the company without any offering (the ps4 launch proved that), however, what i did imply is that Sony might not get the sales it expects at launch because the first "look" at the PS5 was underwhelming to a starving fanbase. That could easily change in the coming months, and hopefully that is the case.
@beavis64 yeah no sh*t, MS still isn't offering anything with xbox one, and nintedo switch came at a time where everyone had a ps4 and and xbox one. Sony's supposed superiority in the market right now isn't only because they are Da BeSt!! but because everyone sh*t the bed early. However, everyone seems to be gearing up now and Sony themselves, as well as others, have pointed that out. While this presentation wasn't (hopefully) all the PS5 can offer, it still has to prove to people that it is the superior console, not just on specs alone, but on exclusive features and games. You also have to keep in mind that Sony expects people to get PS5 early to cover the costs, while to also attract PS plus subscribers (where the real money is at). People are content now, but not that many are willing to follow Sony on another PS4 path (in regards to PS plus, paid online etc) without something extra.
@beavis64 Back then bc wasn't a factor at all for both consoles, but has since gained a lot of appeal thanks to MS's implementation and played a role in the few sales the XBONE managed to get. The fact that many gamers don't care about it is sad really, since it shows they rather buy remasters over and over again instead of building a decent library like a PC in a way. Of course a lot of people will buy the PS5, but a big chunk of it will consist of those who play the usual COD, FIFA etc and those who main on PC or are multiplatform. Sony had a real chance of grabbing the market by the balls, but not only have they been silent when they said they were searching for ways to communicate more to their audience, the few things they've managed to talk about is frustrating and disappointing.
I think people also expect bc with all previous ps consoles, which i can see with ps1 and ps2, although i agree ps3 is a much tougher situation. But the problem with the statement that was given here is that not only ps5 will have bc with only ps4 probably but also not all of it's games. Plus, it doesn't help the idea that Sony might be planning to just keep adding games along the line, since this is a feature that gamers feel that should have been already implemented many years ago.
@MasterEMFG not if Sony keeps giving them away it's not. Spending 400-500 on a machine for exclusives is bad enough of an idea unless you are comfortable, but many people aren't and that's why they want the most from their machine.
@Juanalf I personally would have been fine with just PS4, although i don't think ps2 and ps1 would very demanding at all. I can excuse PS3 since its OS was a mess and if it can be implemented later to some extent then that's fine too. However, Sony either is still testing it and is planning to reveal it later, or plans to keep expanding the bc function as it goes on, this of course means that a lot of people won't be around to pay for a feature that is already implemented better in a stronger console.
It definitely wasn't meant for players, since everything they said was very underwhelming, especially stuff like storage and bc. It's worse if we assume a PS5 pro will come out and Sony expects a lot of people to buy PS5 when it launches. They have made many terrible moves so far and if PS5 doesn't improve greatly until it's launch time, their arrogance will bite them in the ass again. The least they could do is stop giving away exclusives, produce more of them with variety and implement a fuller and better bc function.
Really weak announcements. Most news were either known, expected or disappointing. People are already planning on waiting or skipping the PS5 entirely. It seems that Sony was arrogant and giving exclusives left and right wasn't such a good choice after all, especially when it's at least half the reason the majority will invest in your console. It also sucks for Sony, since it probably expects people to buy PS5 en masse quickly at launch. They have to really introduce full library bc for PS1,2 and 4 (i get ps3 is tricky) plus a lot of other features to attract people. Also, stop giving exclusives, just a thought.

>When they announced a remake, fans were expecting to have at least the same story, not some meta Kingdom Hearts-level timey wimey nonsense
pal, we've known it was a reimagening for a while know, the whole i didn't know what i was getting myself into doesn't stick.
Re: Soapbox: Final Fantasy VII Remake's Final Trailer Is a Spoiler-Ridden Disgrace
@nessisonett Why though? I thought the ending was awesome, hell the remake in general has surpassed the original in many ways. Having said that though, it seems to me a lot of people really are trying to find ways to complain about the game.
Re: PS5's Controller Sounds Cool, But It's a Shame Sony Couldn't Squeeze in Patented Biofeedback
I think a difficulty option is more than enough in games. No need to adjust how a game behaves based on someones sweat and heart rate, which by the way could also be caused by factors outside of the game itself.
Re: Bandai Namco to Publish Guilty Gear Strive in Europe and Asia
>Bamco. Sadly, this means multiple season passes, dlc and ridiculous prices for said dlc up the bum bum. It sucks that they have almost a monopoly on fighting games and milk them dry.
Re: PS Plus Subscribers Face Issues Downloading Uncharted 4 Due to Possible Bug
I "fixed" it, by going to my library and downloading it from there. Don't know if others figured it out yet, haven't checked to be honest.
Re: Rumour: God of War PC Port Speculation Fuelled by Missing Label
Re: PS5 SSD Could Reduce Game Sizes and Save Storage Space
While i still think there should be options for more space (we'll probably get a 2-3 tb ps5 at some point) this is good. I remember that console speed was a strategy Sony had talked about in the past and it was obviously one of their main features. However, i don't know if games will indeed end up becoming quicker and faster in the long run. Some of them will, especially in the beginning of the next gen cycle, but iirc there were devs (and maybe a sony figure too, i can't recall) that explained that that would be the case if the production of games remain the same as this gen. If they choose to up the scales, we'll get more impressive stuff but won't be quick.
Re: God of War: Fallen God Is a New Comic Series Covering the Time Between Greek and Norse Eras
Re: PS5 Is One of the Most Revolutionary, Inspired Consoles Ever Designed
Re: PS5 Backwards Compatibility Will Play Overwhelming Majority of All PS4 Games, Improved Framerates and Higher Resolutions
That's excellent news, that was the statement they should have said in the first place. Hopefully, ps1 and ps2 follow suit.
Re: Talking Point: What Free April 2020 PS Plus Games Do You Want?
HZD could be one of the games. It obviously isn't worth much on ps4 anymore, so might as well give it for free for ps plus users. Doom would be cool toom or a Final Fantasy game.
Re: Sony's Poor PS5 Backwards Compatibility Clarity Prompts Damning Headlines
Re: PS5 Is One of the Most Revolutionary, Inspired Consoles Ever Designed
That's great news. At the end of the day though, it's up to the devs themselves to impress us by showing us what they can create on ps5. Hopefully they will try to push it to its limits, and that goes for 3rd party devs too, not just 1st party.
Re: Sony's Poor PS5 Backwards Compatibility Clarity Prompts Damning Headlines
It's weird that apologists downplay this feature. You guys sure do like buying the same game many times huh? Do you hate building libraries as well? Maybe that's also why you don't care if Sony starts giving away exclusives too. Stop trying to bail a billion dollar company when it makes mistakes or doesn't communicate properly with people, being the voice of reason is important, but blindly agreeing with everything the company does or downplaying features and practises because you don't care about them leads to bad practices and that applies to every system, even PC.
Re: PS5's Backwards Compatibility with PS4 Still Has Fans Flabbergasted
Re: Soapbox: How PS5's Deep Dive Should Have Been Handled
Hopefully we'll get a full reveal sooner rather than later, with what the PS5 actually can do, instead of what devs can do with it.
Re: PS5's Backwards Compatibility with PS4 Has Fans Baffled
Re: PS5's Backwards Compatibility with PS4 Has Fans Baffled
Re: PS5's Backwards Compatibility with PS4 Has Fans Baffled
I think people also expect bc with all previous ps consoles, which i can see with ps1 and ps2, although i agree ps3 is a much tougher situation. But the problem with the statement that was given here is that not only ps5 will have bc with only ps4 probably but also not all of it's games. Plus, it doesn't help the idea that Sony might be planning to just keep adding games along the line, since this is a feature that gamers feel that should have been already implemented many years ago.
Re: Round Up: What Was Announced During Sony's PS5 Deep Dive Reveal?
@MasterEMFG not if Sony keeps giving them away it's not. Spending 400-500 on a machine for exclusives is bad enough of an idea unless you are comfortable, but many people aren't and that's why they want the most from their machine.
Re: Reaction: PS5 Deep Dive Was As Expected, But Was Shockingly Misjudged
@Juanalf I personally would have been fine with just PS4, although i don't think ps2 and ps1 would very demanding at all. I can excuse PS3 since its OS was a mess and if it can be implemented later to some extent then that's fine too. However, Sony either is still testing it and is planning to reveal it later, or plans to keep expanding the bc function as it goes on, this of course means that a lot of people won't be around to pay for a feature that is already implemented better in a stronger console.
Re: Reaction: PS5 Deep Dive Was As Expected, But Was Shockingly Misjudged
It definitely wasn't meant for players, since everything they said was very underwhelming, especially stuff like storage and bc. It's worse if we assume a PS5 pro will come out and Sony expects a lot of people to buy PS5 when it launches. They have made many terrible moves so far and if PS5 doesn't improve greatly until it's launch time, their arrogance will bite them in the ass again. The least they could do is stop giving away exclusives, produce more of them with variety and implement a fuller and better bc function.
Re: Round Up: What Was Announced During Sony's PS5 Deep Dive Reveal?
Really weak announcements. Most news were either known, expected or disappointing. People are already planning on waiting or skipping the PS5 entirely. It seems that Sony was arrogant and giving exclusives left and right wasn't such a good choice after all, especially when it's at least half the reason the majority will invest in your console. It also sucks for Sony, since it probably expects people to buy PS5 en masse quickly at launch. They have to really introduce full library bc for PS1,2 and 4 (i get ps3 is tricky) plus a lot of other features to attract people. Also, stop giving exclusives, just a thought.
