Re: 17 More PS Plus Extra, Premium Titles Live Now, Including PS3 Classics

RiverGenie

@Tomato_Goose Been playing Ng+ on Xbox recently & compared to launch it's a good & bad news situation.

Good in terms of making good changes to combat & making the night actually a challenge like the original Dying Light. As well as performance improvements (at least on Xbox can't speak for PS5 yet.)

Bad in that they added a lot of pointless grind to get certain items that were not an option at launch. Then added said items onto the in game store for real money. (Being intentionally vague for folks who haven't played DL2 as its kind of spoilers but if you played before think what weapons were not in the game for lore reasons.)

It's not a bad game by any means but it's got some issues too (like most games these days it seems.)

Re: 17 Games Land on PS Plus Extra, Premium Next Week

RiverGenie

Blood Omen 1 & 2 yes please.

Says a lot when I am more excited for games that released in 1996 & 2002 than I am for all the current newish games on this list

(to be fair Dying Light 2 is worth a play through but I already did that on Xbox so hard to be excited again.)

Re: Star Wars Outlaws Gets Post-Launch Creative Director Switcheroo

RiverGenie

Assuming they are staying on plan as announced to The Division 2 community this was always going to happen.

Mr Gerighty has moved back to The Division franchise as head of franchise or something to that effect.

He is overseeing The Division 3 but also the franchise as a whole.

They posted a video to that effect a few months or so back. If I remember and can find it I will post a link when I have time.

Edit: can't find the video but a news announcement on the Ubisoft site from a few months ago gives the details: https://news.ubisoft.com/en-ca/article/18oNmwEFQzGDu0TYVOAcJN/julian-gerighty-appointed-executive-producer-for-the-division-brand

Re: Mini Review: Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred (PS5) - Hard to Hate This Meaty Expansion

RiverGenie

@Titntin @Northern_munkey it's worth saying that Path of Exile is a much more difficult gaming experience and you should be aware of that before you go into it

For all its faults Diablo 4 is very casual friendly in it's approach.

Path of Exile will spank your ass and laugh manically at you while doing it. It's a lot of fun if it clicks but can become complicated and / or frustrating quickly.

As it seems important to you just to clarify PoE doesn't have couch co-op. You can of course group up but all party members need separate accounts, installs etc

(Oh and just as a final fyi the Path of Exile 2 beta is launching in November. It might be worth keeping an eye on that as it's supposed to be much more approachable than the original. PoE 2 does apparently have 2 player split screen couch co-op out of the gate. Only one account needed and one install. 2nd player can either log in as a guest or on an existing account.)

Re: Death Stranding 2 PS5 Will 'Come Out Next Year', Crazy Photo Mode Revealed

RiverGenie

@get2sammyb yes it's subjective and I make no apologies for that. At no point was I speaking for anyone but myself nor was I trying to.

I do not have to look at this objectively and I am not trying to change anyone's mind. I am just putting across my view on the first game & why I wont look at this follow up.

As I said above and my only point was I didn't find Death Stranding "innovative gameplay" (your words) fun in the slightest & innovative isn't always a good thing depending on your preferences in gaming.

Re: Death Stranding 2 PS5 Will 'Come Out Next Year', Crazy Photo Mode Revealed

RiverGenie

@get2sammyb innovative doesn't always translate to fun depending on your gaming preferences.

The entire time I was playing Death Stranding my main thought was I hope it becomes fun soon.

For me it never did and the latter part of the game I was literally forcing myself to play for the completion having invested so many hours looking for something fun.

Not making that mistake again but I hope you all get something out of the second one, hopefully some fun.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think of Sony's State of Play for September 2024?

RiverGenie

Ghost of Yotei was the only interesting game in the entire showcase.

Rest are multiplatform, remasters or simply something I have zero interest in.

One game in a showcase of games I am supposed to be excited for. If that's the best they have, yikes!

Yeah no that's not a good showcase or getting me excited for the future or PlayStation in general.

(Full disclosure I have similar thoughts about my series X as well. They at least have a couple of games coming out this year that have some potential so there is that.)

Re: Minecraft Is Dropping PSVR Support Early Next Year

RiverGenie

@UntilRespawn well done guys n gals you all managed to get to comment 19 before someone explicitly used the M word.

Keep at it baby steps

(yes I know the comment I am replying to was sarcasm much like my reply to it.)

Alternative thoughts: Sony are winding down support for the hardware and Minecraft continues to evolve. This could potentially lead to issue going forward that removal will head off.

I would expect similar situations arising as we move forward with game that have vr support as a side option. Games that the majority of players don't use VR to play.

Re: Poll: Are You Sold on PS5 Pro?

RiverGenie

I already have a ps5 and what the Pro offers against that are just not significant enough and that's without even taking the price into consideration which is also yikes.

Re: More Regular Minecraft Content Releases Planned, Native PS5 Version Still Coming

RiverGenie

@Bamila not going to happen on current gen consoles. RT is a dead horse at this point.

Mojang are working on something called physical based rendering or PBR instead. It's not RT but it's a big step up on plain vanilla Minecraft. It's something they can implement on all Minecraft platforms (inc mobile).

It's not part of the current PS5 preview yet afaik but has been on the Series X/S Minecraft Preview for over a year at this point and I expect that once the native version is sorted out you all might get access to it too.

Re: Star Wars Outlaws Director a 'Little Disappointed' with Critical Reception

RiverGenie

Hmm I wonder why Ubisoft stock has tanked with bangers like Outlaws. /s

Mr Gerighty isn't the only one disappointed apparently.

I did try Outlaws via Ubisoft+ and put in 15 hours and it was just a bit dull in terms of story & progression. I have other games I can play that offer me more fun without slogging through a bunch of dull nonsense first.

The world's looked nice though and that's something Ubisoft usually get right in most of their games
