Re: Red Dead Redemption 2 Posters Have Started Popping Up in the Wild

Shokwave2

This games gonna be huge. Rockstar not showing anything on purpose means its gonna be something special when it releases. I'm guessing full co-op/multiplayer campaign, along with the best graphics seen in a game, realistic animation and physics and a massive open world with unlimited gameplay. I can't wait.

Re: Guide: Most Addictive PS4 Loot and Grind Games

Shokwave2

Borderlands should be in the top 3 IMO. Gameplay is tight and fun, plenty of humour and you can play for ever. You never get the same gun or stats as everyone else, unlike Destiny where everyone 2nd person is running around with the same sniper rifle and abilities. Gotta agree on Diablo as top spot though.

Re: No Man's Sky NEXT Trailer Shows Off Multiplayer Space Exploration on PS4

Shokwave2

I jump on after every update to see what's new. The game seems to be getting better, almost to what was first promised. I look forward to this update. Though there's still something missing in my opinion. It needs random missions or something. It is a relaxing game, I just hope it isn't spoiled by randoms killing everyone while trying to mind your own business, like in GTAV.

Re: H1Z1: Battle Royale Is One of the Biggest Games on PS4 Right Now

@MrOso sorry for not "@ing" you before...

Game modes in other games usually contain different objectives, maps or missions. Not just changing the squad number from 4 to 20 or 50. You're still doing the same thing, on the same map, with the same outcome.

I also wouldn't call different colour pick axes, gliders and emotes a great deal of customization. There's no progression or reason to keep playing, unless you want to brag to the kids in the playground. Why pay to look like everyone else that has also played?

Also PUBG was the first of these BR games to hit the consoles. I don't talk about PC here.

I know "gamers" who play Fortnite and nothing else. They brag about their wins and the amount of hours they play. Throw them on another game with objectives, or different genre, and they play like its the first time they've picked up a controller. They stumble around and call any other game crap.

Yes, Fortnite is one of the biggest things in gaming right now, but it's targeted as a kids game IMO.

Re: H1Z1: Battle Royale Is One of the Biggest Games on PS4 Right Now

Fortnite has customization and different game modes? You call giving me a random character every game and an umbrella for a glider customization? And the only game mode is Battle Royale (no one plays single player mode).

PUBG could be a good game, if it was released in 2006. The gameplay mechanics and graphics are so messy and basic. The only reason it's popular is because it was the first of its kind. Just like Fortnite it's just a craze that will die off.

Re: EA Already Promising Changes to Star Wars Battlefront 2 Following Fresh Loot Box Outrage

@bbq_boy "Don't know but it seems like game companies are ripping us off by charging a full RRP cost but it's not to fully own the game but more like an initial entry fee. Then if you want more (eg. The fuller experience) then expect to pay the continual VIP fees hence microtransucktions."

But you can get everything in the game without spending more money. It's called playing the game. It's like standard shipping and express shipping. You'll still get it, but it will take a bit longer. But if you want to be the cool kid on the block and have it first than spend more money. Give us everything unlocked at the start and people will complain about that. This has been exaggerated way too far. Paying for loot boxes ain't going to make a bad player play any better. And a good player can still take down a good player equipped with star cards.

Re: EA Already Promising Changes to Star Wars Battlefront 2 Following Fresh Loot Box Outrage

Shokwave2

@dryrain So true. I've played about 6-8 hours of multiplayer so far, have 13,000 credits in the bank, and I've already spent 20,000 on heroes and loot boxes. So that's about 33,000 credits in 6-8 hours. So either the "40 hours of gameplay" statement is exaggerated or the guy that worked that out is just terrible at playing games.

I have no problem with micro-transactions because I don't need them or use them. I just ignore them. I think the loot boxes are fine and they don't unbalance matches. I just top scored, MVP'ed and top killstreaked a game with no star cards on a vulture droid. I bet half the players in the match had at least 1 star card and it didn't affect me. If they want to waste their money, go for it.

I'd rather enjoy the game and grind and receive random loot. That's what's most games are about these days: grinding for the unknown, random treasure. If there were no loot boxes like the first battlefront everyone would complain. I love the game because I'm a star wars fan. It's not perfect but it's fun and that's why I play games.

Re: Star Wars Battlefront 2's Lootbox Fiasco Keeps Getting Worse

Shokwave2

I've played for about 2-3 hours and don't see it being a 40 hour grind. You also get credits for duplicate star card received in loot crates and completing challenges. Dont see what the big deal is about all this grinding and microtransactions. Grinding gives you a purpose to keep playing, just like any other game. And microtransactions may get you good gear, but it's no good if you don't know how to use it or can't play to save your life. It's the same as weapon shortcuts in previous games IMO. Just another exaggerated topic to get people crying over something that won't affect the players who play to enjoy the game.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 193

Shokwave2

If the COD servers would let me play more than one game before getting stuck on the loading screen I'd be playing that. So I've had to go back to AC:Origins and Mudrunner. Also tried out Fortnite, it's ok but no character customisation makes replayability boring. There's nothing to play for.

Re: Hands On: Does Call of Duty: WWII Bring The European Theatre Back to Life?

Shokwave2

I agree with the lag/hit scan issues. Plenty of times I died after emptying 5-10 bullets into an enemy, only to watch them in the kill-cam put 2-3 bullets in me using the same gun as I was. Also sprinting seemed slow and short- lived. Initial press of the L stick only lasted about 2-3 seconds of sprint. Press it again and get less time sprinting. Other than that I enjoyed the stripped down basics of the game. Reminded me of World at War, both in time period and basic shooter gameplay. Wait and see what this weekend brings.

Re: Guide: Elite Dangerous Tips and Tricks for Beginners

Shokwave2

@thedevilsjester I thought the same with the controls. I changed them but then later they reverted back! Then after a while I released I had clicked L3 which alters flight controls.

@Xavien steep learning curve, you'll be bouncing around docking stations for minutes until you finally land or crash. Do a few courier missions and buy an auto docking component. It will do the hard work for you. Then upgrade lasers to help with auto aim. It does get better if you have patience. The first few hours I was starting to regret the download. But then it just clicks and you want to see everything. It's not a game for everyone.

Re: Guide: Elite Dangerous Tips and Tricks for Beginners

Shokwave2

Went out on a limb and bought this. Disappointed by No Man's Sky and the lack of missions. Really enjoying Elite Dangerous. Steep learning curve but rewarding when you complete a mission or make a smooth landing. I find the game relaxing as I'm running as courier for factions. Great visuals and audio as well.

@Quintumply is this open world/free to roam like The Witness, or do puzzles restrict exploration to a more linear game?

Re: The Battlefield 1 Beta Ends This Thursday

Shokwave2

Yeah people make the mistake of putting COD and BF in the same basket. COD is pretty much run and gun, while BF is more tactical, more atmospheric and less arcadey IMO.

Im really enjoying the WWI setting. Seems more skill is involved then just spraying automatic weapons all over the place and shooting lock-on rockets. From what I've played so far the atmosphere is perfect. The visuals, the sound, the sandstorms, all set the mood.

Can't wait for the full release as I've always enjoyed the BF series. Plus the rumour of an ANZAC Cove map has me excited as my great grandfather fought there in WWI. Bring on October 21!

Re: Soapbox: No Man's Sky on PS4 Is the Biggest Disappointment of 2016

Shokwave2

People saw different gameplay elements in the trailers and expected the game to be what THEY wanted it be. I saw a space exploration game, where I could fly from planet to planet, observing, collecting, enjoying each as it was created. And that's what it turned out to be IMO.

Others wanted Destiny style combat, or Star Wars style dogfighting, or hardcore RPG trading and upgrading. Who knows what the future updates hold? Maybe they'll tighten the controls and add improved combat mechanics, or ship customisation, or NPC missions and quests.

Yes it's repetitive, but so is COD, most RPG'S, and Mario games. Destiny is one of the most repetitive games there is. Everyone has the same few guns, new enemies are just old designs with new colours, and you rinse and repeat the same missions. Every game is not for everyone.

This is my favourite game this year. I'm intrigued by space, planets, etc, in real life and this game fulfils the space explorer in me. Its not perfect but I didn't go in expecting everything I seen in the trailer. They did say this is a procedural game and everyone will see something different.

The game isn't disappointing. Those that are disappointed expected too much.

Re: Feature: Here's What You Do in No Man's Sky on PS4

Shokwave2

Cannot wait for this game. Haven't been this hyped since Red Dead Redemption. I know it won't be everyone's cup of tea, but I love sci-fi, space exploration (both in game and real life), and the art direction looks amazing. I'm guessing the combat won't be as intense as the common Fps, but this is more of an survival/exploration game. I can see this game being the type that once you complete the story/reach the centre of the universe, you'll continue playing for years, switching on randomly, discovering new planets for fun.

Re: No Man's Sky Video Series Aims to Answer Old Questions

Shokwave2

I think this is my most hyped game now, overtaking when Red Dead Redemption was released. I can seriously see myself clocking up thousands of hours of gametime, just flying around looking at other planets, not even landing on them. Just flying low over the planet, letting nature run its course.
