Why even respond lol, you know the track record of a developer that always delivers, a lot of people don’t understand the logistics of game development like time scale and how resources even work hell they even think they can develop it under their terms and do better with 0 experience 😂. Save your breath Insomniac, too many ragebait entitled gamers rotting the internet these days.
@FuzzieGinge88 Straight up, some people’s priorities are clearly a mess.
There are boundaries to everything in life and to take something way deeper than it needs to be is clearly an issue it really is bringing out the society in todays world there are far too many ‘know it alls’ and new gen brain dead gamers where all they know is a handful of games and have never touched grass.
Real shame, it’s not like the trailer forced anything in anyones faces there’s a difference to seeing it blatantly in your face gamers have played all kinds of fictional worlds with female character leads watched movies with all types of fantasy worlds.
It’s why we can’t really have nice things anymore devs aren’t willing to take risks to the extent where they would face criticism for their vision. I respect ND for thinking beyond the norm I’m sure they won’t care too much because they always deliver with their games so it will speak for itself.
@DonJorginho Tell me about it lol. The industry is full of haters and so called wokeys that think they know it all and can make games and don’t apply logic anymore. Inspiration comes from anywhere and going beyond the norm is always a risk in this industry as the idea has to work soon as people see what they don’t want to see it automatically means it’s rubbish because it isn’t about ‘them’. Make it make sense.
@DennisReynolds I honestly feel the hate is driven from the negative publicity Ubisoft has from social media because it’s normalised to hate on them for anything these times…
Yes their quality has degraded in recent times but it gets boring and silly when the hate is overdramatic. C’mon they are long timers in the industry have given plenty of great titles over generations and are also human beings constructive feedback is one but some of the negativity is unnecessary. Many actually don’t care but force it to seem like all of us do it’s a video game I could name a dozen that logically doesn’t make sense.
@TheMightyImp2 Yeah businesses will continue to profit that’s the whole point of it being a business obviously we don’t want them to continue ripping us off but look at the statistics people still buy it and support it meaning they will continue to rise and factor in economical changes. The next 10 years are already pre-planned as it is and advancements in tech will continue and it’s up to the general public to support it or not and that will determine the outcome overall. Sadly the masses are split and it’s unlikely the world will wake up to the reality of it. Let alone the industry the shift in priorities and the world alone is in a different position than it was the good times we had are now a distant memory.
Ah of course we live in a time of ‘Entitled’ individuals that can depict what they want instead of the vision of the creators insisting they can do better. The so called know it all generation.
I agree with Shawn if you’re not part of the process or do not believe in the direction don’t buy it and perhaps not have a fit over something that’s been done across generations anyway? People watch movies and simp over lead female roles if this was a hot looking women people would be all over it and vise verca… Just because something isn’t designed for ‘you’ doesn’t particularly mean everyone else has to agree. Sheez it’s why we can’t have good things anymore🙄.
The issue as well is everything is taken far too literal or serious as if it affects your daily living, it’s not like the lead protagonist is way off from the logic of the game.
Ah there wasn't a solid selling point to this at all we've already had numerous current gen re-hashes and the games we've played already have already been great and are far long behind, it's not being integrated with every game I just can't see the point of replaying everything we've played already at that price point, this is more for developers and their future developments, the investments just isn't worth it at this point in my opinion.
Look at the state of the generation, lots of remakes/reboots, sales not meeting expectations, lay offs, prolonged game development… the costs to develop souring have seemingly had a domino effect within the industry, there’s too much risk involved and too less time to meet publisher/developer expectations. They obviously wanted to reach the last gen audience as there’s still a significant amount of people who haven’t moved on but it’s still a factor to the current state of the generation we are in.
This is an interesting move considering how it ran on current gen hardware from launch I always thought this was a next gen game alone I enjoyed it so will be one to see what they had to do to make sure it’s playable.
@naruball Hit the nail people automatically become industry specialists to match ‘their’ expectations. Hardly any logical thinking goes into these complaints, they know the industries shifted it’s tone, it takes longer to produce quality over quantity, it’s not as if they don’t know and sitting on their a** they are leading the market and competition is healthy for the whole part of it. The silence is deafening and that’s the main issue, but I truly believe when they eventually pull themselves together and communicate better it will shift the tone massively. I agree that communication is lacklustre but teasers/trailers are all hype builders when a product is ready that’s the main part, do we want to know what’s going on? Yes. But I guess only time will tell and patience that doesn’t really exist in the social world of gaming. Based on history the latter half of the generations always come out the strongest titles. It will be interesting to see how the rest of the year pans out.
Ah give him a break he puts on a show with a live audience with the hopes of engaging with the gaming community again into an event despite the collapse of E3 he still makes the effort to keep this feeling alive, his opening talk was great and hate it or not he actually represented less mainstream, dominant publishers to spotlight new devs and games highlighting the status of the industry at the moment with a few decent showings, but oh well people will never be happy.
IMO I think Sony have understood that when a product is ready they will announce everything when things are more definitive like development progress and release dates. The silence is terrible as we can all agree as fans we want to be in the know but it just means the end result is a great line up to look forward to at full quality. The industries changing drastically and to be honest a lot of the studios have been quiet for too long so it is a little bit disappointing we’ll have to wait longer.
I expected the rumours of a state of play to coincide with a showcase in September to be true because Sony will likely throw a few things in the summer showcase, leaving them to a full blown showcase last later in the year to show off ps5 pro with new titles upcoming.
Developers have debated for a while why games should cost more based on production value and costs. I find it silly how people feel pressured to buy games at full price when it is entirely optional and with the ability to wait for used games and sales still available openly…
In my opinion some of them are honestly true to their value and we can use our own initiative to justify if a game is truly worth a single pence of our money.
This is applicable to literally the whole world in many other various industries where products are over priced or being sold above retail value, yet people still buy these out of discretion.
Miss the likes of Shawn Layden and Kevin, brought real personality to Playstation, this was a well deserved re-upload, that was a time to honestly witness greatness.
There are most likely going to several other showings through the year most games are probably not ready until the next year honestly speaking. I understand games are taking a longer time to develop so i’m okay with knowing there’s still something for everyone.
It was okay. Nothing spectacular but I do have to give it Geoff, simply because he put on an ‘authentic’ show, actually bringing people on stage, real showings and genuinely the only person to do a proper on the stage showcase after a long time. He brought everyone together again and it felt traditional rather than forced out. It wasn’t made out to be a out of this world showcase anyway so I knew what to expect.
It was ‘ok’ I understandably know it’s definitely not to everyones taste there were a few that stood out but what it really lacked was an insight into many first party studios, there wasn’t really much of a showcase for VR I expected there to be something along the lines of Half life alyx to really drive some sales to the device… I guess the agenda was they are pushing with indies and releasing variety but it did feel like there was a void to be filled, something was definitely missing and I think 2 years of silence should really have kicked a notch especially because of the Microsoft Activision acquisition recently.
Many were simply teasers with minimal information about them in particular. I’d say 6/10 for me honestly.
@RBMango exactly, why not build a proper infrastructure, get the correct talent put a couple of ideas into studios, restructure their own resources they have great studios it just seems that they aren’t really utilising any of them. Instead of taking shortcuts Invest wisely for a longer term solution!
Geoff is the only one that believes in still putting showcases, he does put a lot of effort in the industry trying to bring the communities together so fair play nice to see we still do have a few things to look forward to regardless of an e3 absence again.
A part of me says fine support the developers they probably deserve it more than others but then again some may want the box too… depends if you’re really that fussed to save a tenner and by the looks of it British people like throwing money away.
@Ashina yeah I don’t know I feel… turning into a monopoly for Industry giants, it’s gives me bad vibes for the direction it’s going in pushing a subscription based agenda, forcing companies to result to their services… think about the end result and how developers have to react to these changes does it push for less authenticity, lack of passion and heart into development if this continues then the old ways of gaming will come to an end and will have to eventually pay for what we get even if it’s garbage.
No offence but at least Sony invests in upcoming developers or hugely talented studios without any major tie-cutting purchases that could result to disconnecting an entire platform from major titles… it’s clearly an extra revenue for them and that’s all it is.
@The_Moose Good stuff.. see not many people realise that and it’s creating huge change in the industry. Think the focus is definitely quality and fairness to developers and not necessarily trying to be ahead pf competitors because in the long run you can see the differences.
Yeah.. I mean it’s mainly due to expenses and how the industry is changing I am all for the thrill of presentations they just bring good vibes, reminds me of times i’d sit down late with snacks for years excited to see what’s next it really made me feel a part of a larger community.
