Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 411

Deep into playing Odyssey for the first time and on a PS5. I can’t compare to playing it on the PS4 but playing on PS5 at 60FPS with little to no load times has been a joy. Graphically speaking the world is pretty stunning and I must say I’m really enjoying myself. I was hoping by the time I finish Odyssey that Techland would release the 60FPS patch for Dying Light so I could experience that game for the first time at optimal settings and if I liked it, I would pick up DL2… But looks like that’s most likely not going to happen so I will take my time with Odyssey and be ready for Horizon Forbidden West to roll out in a few weeks!

Re: Poll: Would You Still Buy PlayStation Consoles Without Activision Blizzard Games?

ThunderStashGaming

Yeah, I don’t NEED COD. I really just played them for the Campaign mode and that became a secondary for Activision awhile back. I have Crash 4 but haven’t played it yet. I have the Tony Hawk 1+2 remake and I feel like that’s all I need in terms of Tony. To me, the loss of Bethesda was much larger than the loss of Activision/Bliz. My hope is that they don’t buy more companies… I do believe this will force Sony to do more and be more aggressive which should translate to good news for us.

Re: Soapbox: Where's My Red Dead Redemption 2 PS5 Version, Rockstar?

ThunderStashGaming

I do wish that Rock* would optimize RDR II for PS5. In fact, I’m waiting to play it for exactly that reason. I preordered and picked up the game on day 1 and played it for a little bit but wanted to take it slow and savor the experience much like I do when a new Zelda comes out. I have it on my shelf waiting for that PS5 optimization to be played. All I’m looking for is 60FPS. Anything more would be an absolute bonus. Here’s hoping…

Re: Mini Review: Jay and Silent Bob: Mall Brawl (PS4) - Mallrats Brawler with Nine NES Chapters Nootch

ThunderStashGaming

I bought the boxed NES version from Limited Run Games (still sealed) and then bought the PS4/5 version. I was born in 85 and grew up with the NES and SNES so naturally I am a huge fan of games like Double Dragon, TMNT, River City Ransom, Final Fight, Streets of Rage, etc. I also loved Clerks, Mallrats and the rest of the Kevin Smith movies. If you appreciate what I appreciate then I can confidentially say you will enjoy this game.

@lolwhatno that’s not good man. I’m writing to you because I want you to show this to your parents in an attempt to help you get your PlayStation back. ‘Video games don’t cause violence. I’m 35 and started gaming in the late 80’s and they never caused me to be violent. I will tell you that they helped me a ton in problem solving, troubleshooting and applying logic. See back when I grew up there were no players guides or internet to help you so you had to figure it out for yourself. If you were stuck in a game, you’d just have to keep trying until you tried everything. That teaches you persistence and determination because you have to have that to beat some of the games from the 80’s and 90’s (still games like that today. Take Demon’s Souls for instance). Long story short, I wouldn’t be as high up in my company if it weren’t for everything I’ve learned from video games. I never went to college and believed I never needed to because I was fully equipped for life. Of course it wasn’t just from video games but I kid you not I’ve thought about adding video games to my resume. You’d be surprised how many people out there in the workforce are quick to give up and show no level of resourcefulness on how to troubleshoot any sort of problem that crosses their path. People at work ask me all the time how I fix stuff within our system/software etc and I always tell them it’s from video games. Some smile and ask me if I’m serious and I tell them I am dead serious and explain why. I couldn’t have asked for a better hobby to aid me throughout life. I’m a Director for the 2nd largest private lender in the U.S and making a healthy 6 figure income for the last 6+ years. I’ve never asked anyone to borrow money, I pay my bills on time, I donate money, I keep cash on me for one reason and that’s so I can give to the homeless whenever I see them and I have no debt, not even my house. And I’m not trying to toot my own horn to anyone who reads this, I’m just trying to help a Brother out. I can guarantee I wouldn’t be where I am today if my Parents took away my video game system when I was growing up.’
Good luck. -Steve Z

How do I feel about it? Everything that had happened could have been avoided if only they had listened to their industry elders. I have the game and installed it day 1 but didn’t play it. As more news came, I deleted the game. It’s collecting dust on my shelf until the PS5 free upgrade. Too many other amazing games to play in my backlog to even try this one until it’s truly ready.

Re: Cory Barlog Admits He Had 'No Idea' What He Was Doing When Directing God of War 2

Man that was a really fun documentary to watch. I searched YouTube to watch the whole thing and I found this new GOW documentary by Sony. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ra_R-K_IoUc Can anyone recommend it? It’s almost 2 hours long! It’s cool to get an inside look at the game development process and to see some of the struggles Barlog went through being new to the Director position. I am the Director of Operations for a mortgage company and I am in meetings all day and Barlog explained exactly how I feel about being in meetings all day lol. It’s just a lot and can be mind numbing at times with all the information you need to carry in your head. Nice to see I’m not alone in that feeling!

Re: Bethesda Says 'Some' Future Games Won't Launch on PS5, PS4

ThunderStashGaming

My guess (and hopes) is the established franchises that have shown up and made a living for years on PlayStation will continue to be available on PlayStation moving forward. New IP’s will likely be Xbox exclusive. For instance, I could see Indiana Jones (sadly) being an Xbox console exclusive in hopes that Indy could make an impact similar to what KOTOR did for Xbox back in 2003.

Re: Rumour: Mass Effect Legendary Edition Release Date Set for 12th March

ThunderStashGaming

I am excited to return to the ME Universe. I last played it when it was released on the PS3 as the trilogy box set and even then, I didn’t finish the trilogy until 2014-2015 according to my trophy log. Feels like ages ago. Two concerns I have right now along with my excitement for the release. One, playing this cuts into my backlog (it’s massive). Two, I’m going to have to wait for the review. Just need to make sure EA doesn’t completely botch the “Remaster”... I’ve got to imagine though that after Andromeda’s critical reception that they are trying to make things right with the fan base before it’s proper next-gen outing.

Re: Soapbox: PS5 Backwards Compatibility Has Kept Me Glued to My Next-Gen Console

ThunderStashGaming

Lol I like how you call your backlog your “shelf of shame”. I have a shelf of shame too and I’m not proud of it but trying to make things right. I’m definitely playing my PS4 games on the PS5. I have one of those large 20 cube shelves from IKEA and around March 2020 I dedicated a cube to PS4 games that I won’t play until I could take advantage of the then ‘future’ PS5 release. Once I finish up Valhalla on PS5 I will have a tough decision to make about which neglected PS4 game to start.
