I think the review sums up my feelings. There is no nostalgia for me and it looks a bit meh, but gameplay does appeal (I like cover shooters). Does the disc have the full game on it or is it just a download code?
Seeing digital foundry, the pro implementation is absolute pants (looking worse and performing worse than base PS5 in some cases and lacks the mode options). Will wait to see if there is a patch
I plan to get it in near future. Just too much of a backlog. I spent a good 30 hrs on the first but never completed it. Not sure why, but it was definitely worth it to me. Will get the second as it looks improved in every way.
@PegasusActual93 I’m afraid you are right. It’s at this point it goes from interesting conversation to tribalism (choose whatever faction you want) nonsense.
@Bionic-Spencer Exactly the same mindset I had. I realised since Indian Jones that MS might do something similar. Once it was confirmed it’s a Key and not full game on Disc, I decided to wait until it’s on sale on PSN.
Well it’s the first AC game for a long time that I will buy at some point… mid way through Witcher 3 (finally got round to playing it!) and just bought Khazan … it next on my list after that though
@Khayl, demanding time of the player when playing is Ok, but what’s not clear to me is that if I left it for a few weeks (or even a few months) and hopped back in, does the game provide the necessary quality of life features for me to pick it up again?
@Dragon83 why do you assume their reason for casting characters was because of DEI… So if they chose a white shaved male there would be no issue right? Then it must be because story or other reason was at play. Any choice (other than white male), and it’s because of DEI? Give me a break dude. No issue you not liking their recent output but citing “DEI or whatever” was their reason for character choices is lame.
To all those that missed my point. Usually when you acquire a company it’s not just to recoup the cost from its revenue stream (in business terms that usually takes too long because if it didn’t then it would be undervalued). It’s usually because there is a synergy with your strategy. Having been involved in several M&A that’s usually my experience but of course I can’t speak authoritatively about MS.
About someone’s Fan boy comment…increasing gamepass growth does not have to mean excluding other revenue streams (hence I never feared about PS for the short term at least).
Basically I’m saying companies usually have strategic objectives with such acquisitions and if it wasn’t increasing gamepass what was it?
How top XB execs still have jobs is beyond me. A $70Bn acquisition with no real improvement to XB market share and no clear outlook to how they intend to increase it (not just talking about this title). Given Gamepass is stagnating, surely the strategy isn’t to rely on sales of Acti games outside gamepass to recoup the investment?
Polyphony please take my money and start releasing some new tracks including classics like silverstone. These car updates are nice especially as they are an effectively free but I’m more than willing to pay for more. After 1200 hrs, I’m more than happy to support this game by buying paid dlc (of substance)
So I will be able to buy a 30th anniversary disc cover at the same time (26th) to go with the pro (I already have a disc drive) or something they promised to realise at some time for anybody or only those that bought the 30th anniversary consoles?
Astro bot is a real gem. I have got both Space Marine 2 (big w40k fan) and I’m loving it but I’m finding I’m playing Astro Bot more. Sheer joy. It’s all the little details, the consistency and classy way they tied it all back to PS history. It’s more than the sum of its parts (and it’s pretty polished in every department). Fantastic game, and I hope more people buy it over time.
@WiccanMagick75 I suggest you watch Digital Foundry. Sony and Xbox released a competitive console for the price. They would have done much to bring the cost down and also initially subsidise the cost (loss leader). This console is not subsidised as it’s aimed at probably 10% of their customers. Base PS5 will (like PS4) remain supported for the entire generation. The only difference is they are simply providing a premium option for those willing to pay the price. I likely will buy it but I completely understand those who think it’s not worth it for them. Good thing is no one loses out.
I’m going to wait until we get a physical version with a physical disc.
Right now, i have a huge backlog of games (incl. spiderman 2, star ocean, octopath traveller 2, Cygni, and about 10 other beat-em ups and shmups) and I have my pre-order for Space Marine 2 so I can wait a while before a proper physical release and a bunch of inevitable patches are applied.
Love FromSoftware output since Demon Souls (and completed everyone since). I just had to react to his comments about not playing as he sees things left on the table. Clearly frame stutter isn’t one of them 😂
Looks like spiritual successor to Sekiro and/or Nioh games in combat terms and may open world inspirations from Elden Ring (guessing on last part as not evident from video). Anyway, looks like my kind of game. Just on NG+ (hard) run to get plat for Stellar Blade (one of my surprise favourites this year).
@Superstar74 100% with you. Polyphony free updates are nothing to complained about and are very welcome. However, I would like them to put some money and extra development time needed (licensing costs etc) to get more tracks (real and imaginary) to the game…I will happily pay £5-£10 per track knowing that with that you get circuit experience, new world events and online.
I think the reason they are not doing it and staying on free for updates is because they don’t want to split the online community (which is what is keeping GT7 relevant and has ah healthy number of players across the world).
I recently did a video interview for internal communication at work on a fairly large programme of work…basically the video/media person pointed camera at me, and just asked me to give my thought for 45 mins. They used about 5 and it wasn’t bad but some points were not completely in context. So I can see how this happens. It’s not really a sensational piece of news just the organisational machine getting it wrong.
@MrMagic I call that BS. It’s not about being sensitive, but about ensuring we acknowledge the lazy stereotypes and ‘subconscious’ racism that exists and is very real today (I don’t know your ethnicity but as someone who lives in Europe and is of ethnic minority, this kind of racism day2day is still vey present in our society (and of course overt racism in social media). I applaud the way they have handled this.
“ You may not be fully satisfied with how PlayStation is running its business right now, ”
Don’t want to sound like a fanboy, but honestly I have no complaints. Ok a few, Polyphony needs to release more tracks (Silverstone for example), for which I’m happy to pay for (and honestly GT can be a great live service game so I am confused why they don’t invest more in it as a live service), secondly, I need Killzone and Resistance (even a remake of Resistance 3 would be great).
Polyphony have done an admirable job in supporting GT7 but there are still simple improvements that have not yet materialised (e.g. lacking information on race when in PSVR2, option to have speed and rev counter etc) and rarely are new tracks released (doesn’t have to be free and will happily pay). I just don’t understand Sony’s reluctance on this - on one hand they want to invest in live service, GT7 is in all practicality, a live service game so why not create and monetise on more content (like ACC for example)?
Good decision in my view. Choice between ND single player games or most of time spent maintaining a live service, it’s a no brainier. So good to see Sony and ND realising what contributes to PS success is Sony’s commitment to single player experiences.
I’m on my third playthrough (Ng+2) to get 3rd ending. Without farming, I have now got to a point where I can apply extra defensive spell and continuous healing while regenerating Mana as fast as I spend it. So basically (apart from some bosses - light reaper (without shield any) and.sundered end boss who basically have ridiculous HP) it’s a cakewalk.
Truth hurts. Instead of defending Call of Duty they should be apologising. And using popularity is not a measure of quality. Weird how working for Sony (via Bungie) he can get away with criticising God Of War sales fogures

Re: This Is How Gears of War Reloaded Looks and Plays on PS5 Pro
If the full game is on disk, I was going to buy it, but that screen shake is really off putting. Is there an option to turn that off?

This is the dominant, arrogant Sony starting to emerge. It’s ridiculous you don’t get rewarded for loyalty.
Re: Analytics Firm Predicts Paltry Full-Price Sales for DOOM: The Dark Ages on PS5
If they included the full game on disc I would have likely bought it. Now just waiting for the inevitable PSN sale

It’s their right as publisher. I’m not going to complain but It does mean I’m going to wait for sale (on PSN or physical copies to be sub £30).
Re: Xbox Is Absolutely Dominating PS5's Pre-Order Charts
@Chupa_loyzer I guess for the automated download? but yeah, I’m with you on this. I just don’t see it either.
Re: Poll: What Are Your Thoughts on Bloodborne, 10 Years Later?
Do a fairly quick remaster on PS5 and PC, use the revenue of that to fund a sequel.
But Sony will likely do a Demons Souls remake thing in time for PS6 launch in about 3 years.
